    What's up y'all, welcome back to another episode and today we're talking about the Nikon Z30 and Nikon Z 24-200mm f4-6.3 VR and how it's an going to be my main camera combo for telephoto landscape images. Both lens and camera compliment each other so incredibly well and cover a lot of weaknesses that they both have. Feel free to watch the video and let me know what you think of my opinions, thank you for experiencing the world with me!

    I use the 24-200 on my Z6 and Z50. Great results.

    I have the 24-200 and a Z6 II. I often switch my camera to DX mode to get that extra reach. Even in DX mode I still get great looking pictures. Love your videos by the video.

    I have both, z30 and 24-200... just never thought about using them together... I don't do landscape much, but something I want to start doing... interesting concepts, thanks for sharing.

    My best hiking setup was the Z50 with the 24-200. It's a shame I sold it but I am holding out for a Z50ii.

    What's your take on Laowa lenses? They're about to release pre orders for their 10mm f2.8 + autofocus

      Mmm I don't really have a take tbh. If I'm honest, I tend to be more skeptical of third party lenses as everything I use is native. But the fact that there's now a 10mm for the z mount is pretty amazing tbh. I'd love to try it!

    You also lose on apeture, but considering you will be using it outside, that wont matter.
    Planning to use my 24-120 with a used z30.

      The aperture loss only affects depth of focus, not exposure. For example in DX mode on FX, you're capturing a smaller portion of the image, but the light coming into the lens is being distributed evenly across the entire 35mm frame. Cropping in does not change the amount of light entering the lens, it only affects how much the scene with that particular exposure is visible to your sensor. So although your sensor is not capturing the whole field of view, it is still taking advantage of the f stop of your lens for the exposure, even when shooting on a DX body. An easy way to prove this is to take a photo (focused at infinity to have the same DOF) on FX and then change to DX mode in camera without changing anything else and look at the exposure between the two images. There will not be any difference. This is a common misconception that comes from the fact that many CZcamsrs and gear reviewers will just say something like "this 24-70 F/2.8 becomes a 36-105 F/4.3 on a crop sensor body" and neglect to explain what that _actually_ means.

    What would you recommend on a Nikon z30 for a recording lenses?

    • @TheProjectPhotography
      @TheProjectPhotography  Před 4 měsíci

      The 12-28 is the one I have and is great for video especially for vlogging. But I'm also a fan of the 17-28mm f2.8, it's a full frame lens, but is great for tripod use especially (no image stabilization) since you get that shallow depth of field at f2.8
