  • This wee beastie is the same age as "Apache" and was removed from an "Iroquois" catamaran so it seemed appropriate as a new engine for Apache. It has been reconditioned and will be installed using an "aquadrive" cv joint and masses of accoustic muffling material inside the engine box.

Oh, I remember these. Had one in my Catalina 27. It was reliable, started easily and made enough power, but it was loud, leaked oil and vibrated like hell. After a few years I repowered with a Universal M2-12A.

Watch out for the vibration. Had one of the low pressure oil pipes rattle loose and seep oil into the bilge. Also had the crankcase breather pipe pop loose once haha.

Hi, I have the same engine in my Catalina 27. Is the engine oil dipstick and filler cap located at the rear of the engine, basically the rectangular box at the rear?

How loud is this engine when it runs? A rough estimate in decibels? Refurbishing one for my small wooden boat and was wondering if I could live with the noise haha!

can you explain the fuel system and how I can get mine running like this. Is there more than one fuel line?
