Michael Landau and the chocolate rain kid on bass
Wow this dude kills it - every time. Catch him live if you ever have a chance.
Great performance. And: What a beautiful Jazz Bass!
Finally Michael gets the endorsement from Fender that he has always deserved, good to see :)
Michael Landau, Gary Novak and Reggie , my faves
Gar is No.1 !!!
My guitar teacher told me about this mufuka. Awesome!
Wow, Landau is always on point
Incredible performance. The unmistakable Fender signature, along with Michael´s good taste and feelings. Great!
Ah! This is so beatiful!!
I'd watch 20 more videos from this session
Marcus Vinnas i'd watch a thousand...
Really great guitarist. No cliches in there, real improvisation and great tone.
My God, this man has The Strat tones. He sounds so good it's almost frustrating
Another one to check out is Blake Mills.
my 2 favourite fenders a start and the Jazz Bass the best creations that fender has ever made.
remember seeing Michael the boss at Baked Potatoe in early80's along with Larry C!
Awesome talent. Drummer and Bassist are kickiin' it.
LOVE IT!!!
Beautiful playing and tone. Mike is a modern day guitar god.
I think it's coming from the stereo chorus arion pedal...
@@lorenzmuller3542lol
HELL Yeah!!!
Oh Fender I love your basses!!!!!! they have the best sound in the world
da ist aber viel Fender!!!!!Amazing!
Beautiful, dreamy, charming&magic melodies come from Landau's fingers! I hear colours and see sounds!!
That is some way out cool for sure! Exciting new sounds.
Phenomenal!!!!!
Extraordinarily talented musicians, I love a great 3 piece. Landau is highly underrated. For me he's up there with Herring, Carlton, Lukather, Ritenour, etc. But you don't hear his name mentioned as often as you do with them.
lukather is one of his best friend they grow up togheter and one time told he wouldn't be what he is without ML
He is one of my favorite guitarists. As a drummer I am a big fan of Vinnie Colaiuta who has been a very good friend of his. They did many many recordings together. Landau's sound and musical approach is extraordinary and unique as far as I can see.
mike is sublime, perhaps the very best,GOAT,scott henderson likes mike in the top spot
Landau is easily as good as those guys you mentioned and far better than Herring. The more I listen to Landau, the more I fucking love his playing and the choices he makes.
Landau needs to post short clips almost daily on Instagram. That would cause billionaires to pay him gobs of cash to pay their b-day parties. And attendees would go "holy shit", listen to the guitar player!
Excelente,que magia,impresionante.felicitaciones.
The master
Hell yeah!
En un momento la guitarra se escucha como la guitarra de los shadows. Ese sonido limpio de Fender con Reverb
SO COOL!!
Great playing!
This music reminds me a lot, I mean really a lot, of the Gateway album from the mid 70s on ECM. Abercrombie, Holland and Dejohnette.
Sick tone.
I think it's coming from the stereo chorus arion pedal...
Nicolas Cage + Denzel Washington
hahahaha sounds amazing~!
+Chang Pahk Nicolas Cage + Danzel washington + Bruce Willis
que bueno que esta ... y que bien que esta tocando la bata Juan Carlos Baglietto!
podrian sumarlo a Vitale... seria increible!
Michael Landau Stratocaster, my fave guitar (I've got the same model, but can't play as good, but the guitar smells extraordinary!). Great sound anyway, on this vid and at home with my fender amps ;-)
+Robert Bossart I had a friend that very briefly had a pink Strat that smelled like fish. He used to call it "the stinky pink."
1:45 just needs Sting to jump into frame and sing "eeeeeeeyeeeeeeaaaaaaayyyoooooo".
Excelente.
nice!
It’s his ability to stay away from the predictable in all the musical elements: blues licks, rhythm patterns, harmony even tone colours.
a strat is the best
This is fucking dope
Nice;)
Is that Denzel Washington on Bass? kidding. Great music! love the bass.
Yes it is.
gerdzpogi lol, that's it.. I was trying to think about it- this dude looks familiar:)
how lucky is he playing with those two guys, the best of the best
Fuckin hell, Gary Novak is the drummer? Scary playing man
This reminds me of Jeff Beck.
I loved the Elite basses. The Ultra basses have ugly colors.
Can someone tell me what the name of the finish is on that jazz bass? Looks nice!
what's that chord transition he does at 5:38 ? sounds extremely peculiar. is it only a fast volume swell or is there something more?
He´s shifting from E minor to Bb7(b5) to Csus4 to C
some melodies similar to "Spider Time", interesting
Very first Mike Landau video. Sounds very similar to Andy Timmons. Also Jeff Beck. Not sure who emulated whom. Sorry for the ignorance. .
They're all "emulating" the blues!
AFAIK Beck comes first, then Landau, then Timmons (in time). I thought the same the first times I heard Landau, the Beck influence. I also hear Hendrix, perhaps more in other songs. But I guess they all have they're own thing going, ie, here Landau reminds me of Bill Frisell.
Is he using a fender super reverb?
No... Fender Deluxe Reverb i think reissue
those drums must be Gretsch .. probably renown maple kit
I wonder why he chose a rosewood fretboard versus a maple?
signal chain?
there is any album that contain this track? i want it :(
Yeah whats the amp, looks like a Michael Landau Single Channel signature Hot Rod Deville might be on the Horizon?
let's hope so!
Deluxe reverb use here
so this is what fender wants? that their artist must play all FENDER equipments?
That's why John Mayer is no longer a fender artist
yeah. thats what i thought when writing this comment
Resuteru Kaitano This is truly nonsense!! Fender give them money to play their stuff. What do you expect them yo play at a Fender sessions? Gibson/Ibanez/PRS equipment maybe?
Resuteru Kaitano I heard they even make him wear Fender underwear.
+Enzo Prestinenzi landau used to plqy suhr or custom audio electronic amp , now he switched to hi signature fender amp.
jonh mayer brought me here
man he is great. Its a shame he like to use the chorus tho :p
Prefer Landau Bands....without ford
Really? Gotta be supporting Fender? Can't just put out videos for the sake of music without supporting a product. Shameless. I remember when Landau was playing a different brand of guitar years ago. Guess money speaks. I say "sell out"....
Landau has been using Fender for decades.
Mike has been playing fender amps and guitars almost exclusively since around 2008-2009.
BGoldtone, you know why companies like Fender support musicians, right? To get some advertisement in return. These sessions are named "Fender Studio Sessions" aren't they? Mr. Landau didn't put this out, Fender did.
In return for giving Mr. Landau something (perhaps free instruments or amps) they may have asked him to perform some songs where he promotes the instruments and amps he is using. This type of advertisement has been used since the dawn of companies. You say "sell out" and "Shameless", I just listen to the nice music and say "thanks for the great performance".
2ndlars
He was playing Suhr for a bit too mixed in with his Fenders. He is also the inspiration on the Tyler guitars. But he would sound just as good with a Pignose and an old Squire.
Landau has done just fine for himself. He has played on more studio sessions than most of his better know peers.
im sorry but this for me is pointless and going nowhere ...
+Ruben Trevino No need to apologise, some folk get it and love it and some dont
+Ruben Trevino Where would you like it to go? For me it's perfect just right where it is.
