    It's amazing that you find time to get these rides in not to mention editing and posting the video. When do you work on garden and indoor plants? I'm struggling to do both and take care of household chores.

      Yeah, I have always been kind of a workaholic. I am working on this from the moment I get up until I go to bed. My wife says she is happy it is all online now as in our younger years in construction and truck driving she did not see me much. At least we get to be together now. : ) I basically try to allow a certain amount of time to each task and put off the rest until the next day. My back issues kind of dictate how long I can do everything. My 2 hour bike ride is my escape from it all, so that is not hard to keep on the schedule : )

    Always a great video! By the way, what type of camera do you use on your rides? The video's always clear, and I'm currently in the market for one for safety reasons. Lots of crazy drivers in the city.

      Thank you.
      My 360 camera I use is in the description. I tried to go exclusively to that for my rides, but going through 2 hours of 360 footage is very hard especially since the audio does not pick up well on the 360 at 35mph. So I have to sync everything by hand. The files are also huge so having over 2 hours to work with is hard. I have since went back to recording with my iPhone. With the phone I can auto sync the audio so it saves a lot of time. I ride mostly country roads so I do not have to deal with much traffic. I run the 360 for the whole ride, if something happens I want to see more of I can pull up that part in the 360 footage. So it ends up being kind of a bike dashcam. I will also do some footage for the music portion of the ride. The DJI mike has a receiver you can plug into your camera, but it does not work for my 360 which is a bummer.
      I would recommend figuring out your audio first, then get a camera that works with it. Then your audio would be synced already. Hope that helps : )

    One thing I noticed on your favorite bike rides is that you are very vertical over your pedal cranks . Peddling upright may be putting undo pressure on your lower back .
    Maybe someday try a cruiser style bike with a forward recumbent pedal stroke.
    I believe this will help your lumbar lower back pain greatly.

      Good tip! I want to see if maybe I can rent one to see how they are. Maybe one day I can get a velomobile and just sit back and ride. I am afraid to spend the 10k to find out if I like it or not ; )

    Hi, did you have to adjust the derailleur any, or get a different chain?

    • @papablueshirt
      @papablueshirt  Před měsícem

      No, I did not have to do anything. Please note I previously changed it to a 52t that had a removeable chainring, so it was very easy. Just take out the 5 bolts and swap out. Worked great : )

    Hi P.B.S Question for you. On your Philodo H8, Do you have a 11/28 rear freewheel on it or 11/34 ? Please let me know. I' want to install the right 1 without the headache you had in your video. Thank you .

    • @papablueshirt
      @papablueshirt  Před měsícem +1

      11/28 is the one I ended up with. I think all my bikes have it now. If you go to 11/34 you will have to change your derailer as it will not be able to get up to that high gear. I do mostly road riding so I figured I did not need it, especially on an ebike that I tend to only use the top 3 gears anyway. Hope that helps : )

    Noticed at the beginning. Please good sir. Will you share how you reset the trip meter?

    • @papablueshirt
      @papablueshirt  Před 29 dny

      I have not figured out how. It will reset every 506 miles automatically. It drove me batty trying to figure out what I did to make it reset. I found another bike with the same display and it said it would reset at 506. So then I knew it was not something I did. It is supposed to have an option with the odometer reset, but there is no option there for the trip.
      The other day when I changed the tire I got an err 14. So I plugged in the plug again and still had it. I cleared it by rotating the tire backwards. The error went away and my trip reset. I say all that to say, I have not figured out how to do it. If you figure it out, please let me know.

    Didn't ride today as FedEx was supposed to delivery a 105 lb box, but they were a no show. Guess I'll get it Monday.
    Yesterday, this 70 yr old rode the longest single bike ride of like at 67 miles, and I was beat.
    Might get out on Mother's Day for a ride, we'll see.

    • @papablueshirt
      @papablueshirt  Před měsícem +1

      Fedex, over promise , under deliver. I always hold my breath when it is them. They always say, your shipment is arriving early. Then if I am lucky the original date they will deliver. Ruined a few rides for me too, so I just pretty much ignore their estimates now LOL.
      Congrats on the 67 miles. I have been doing 50 and my hindsides and back are hurting pretty bad when I am done.

    • @NOWitsOKto
      @NOWitsOKto Před měsícem

      @@papablueshirt Now that I think about it, FedEx does seem to estimated deliveries early quite often.
      However, in all the forums/groups I belong to, it seems more people complain about UPS messing up the items more so than FedEx. Meaning, if I wasn't clear, stuff like bikes more often come torn up, holes in them, etc.
      Personally, my experience has been about the same, perhaps it is certain areas with high turn over rates where the drivers don't give a damn. I UPS and FedEx drivers that deliver to me, I've been seeing the same few people for years and almost 100% of the time the packages are undamaged. Now Amazon, I rarely see the same driver twice in 6 months, and it seems that there are more bent corners on boxes than the other two. That's been my experience as of late.

    • @papablueshirt
      @papablueshirt  Před měsícem

      I am so far in the boonies, I have never even seen an Amazon driver LOL. So it is UPS or FedEx for me. UPS comes here almost daily, so they are used to us. FedEx I seldom see the same FedEx driver twice. UPS they kind of rotate between a few people.
      I heard they were going to combine the two companies and they are going to call them FedUPs, ; ) {I know, Lame Joke]

  • @drogers5511
    @drogers5511 Před měsícem

    Did I see that right? You did not have the smaller 2 chain rings?
    I have the H8 and it too needs a 50+ tooth chain ring as anything over 25mph, peddling is not a value add. :-).

    • @papablueshirt
      @papablueshirt  Před měsícem +1

      Yes, I removed my triple on my H8 as I never used the other two chainrings. I used to think changing the freewheel was easiest. Now I have changed so many cranksets, I think it is easier. I can do it in about 10 min, VS 15 min for the freewheel : ) I have a video coming up showing me going to a 52t on the H8, I also went with shorter cranks. I really love how what it did for my H8
      : ) As soon as I get it edited, I will upload it.

      @@papablueshirt I really like your expression about ghost peddling. That is a fact. I too agree that the bike is to heavy to make peddling in the higher gears impractical without peddling assist. I really only need the 7. Thank you.
