    It maybe a good idea to add a tiny splash of blue to this deck so you can put some card draw in it using curiosity which makes your burn creatures turn into card draw for whenever you cast a non-creature spell becomes a better version of needle drop . Sure adding a few islands to your deck so you can ensure card draw might cost a little bit in terms of the mana economy I think the benefits of having continuous gas to ensure you keep getting fuel to kill 'em all with fire and lightning is far more important.

    I keep wanting to like pauper, mainly just to have a janky-cheap format to brew lots of decks. Unfortunately, it's still not necessarily "cheap", although it's still much cheaper than any other mainstream format, even on a bad day. For me, the main problem is the very top most expensive cards that are legal in Pauper and should ideally be used in many places.
    Here is a Scryfall link for pauper cards ordered by price, using the cheapest edition: scryfall.com/search?q=format%3Apauper+order%3Ausd&unique=cards&as=grid&order=cmc
    Here are the top annoying cards: Oubliette ~$37, Rhystic Study ~$17, Manamorphose ~$14.50, Lotus Petal ~$8.50, Darkness ~$7.50, Thought Vessel $7, etc. I ignored the $78 "Three visits" ignored because of Nature's Lore, and what's the deal with Telekinesis?
    The other end is that I think in the history of magic there are a ton of "not quite good enough" but fun jank / bulk rares and uncommon that you can get for pennies that would be great to have a format for.
    I am mostly thinking "out loud", but I would love to be able to brew in a way that is always cheap, but also gives me wide access to these uncommons, rares, and maybe sometimes particularly janky mythics. I have a solution I have been chewing on for a while, but it means a bunch of work. Does cheap + janky cards of all rarities sound good to anybody else?

    Think a pauper red green shaman/elemental deck would be doable? I feel like there's something there that'll feel like an old starter deck, but actually good that I just can't see.

    Eya prof! So i don't actually expect a response here or anything but like I've been trying to get into pauper but it seems to lack something for me. How do I put this? It's the case that I would like to play something a bit more over the top in terms of flashy turns and such. To illustrate my favourite deck in commander, legacy and modern is storm. Is there a pauper alternative that caters to that sort of itch? Making a tone of mana in one turn, drawing your entire deck and burning your opponent to death on the spot? I'd really appreciate a response from any pauper expert or whatnot. (and please do not suggest tron, i dislike it)

    Does playing a foiled out burn deck defeat the purpose of playing pauper?

  • @zeroeffortmtg3977
    @zeroeffortmtg3977 Před 4 lety

    As a long time Burn player, I actually prefer to avoid the Lavarunner: he's not evasive and dies easily. I am thinking to use Gingerbrute from Throne of Eldraine instead, since becomes almost unblockable for 1 and can be sacrificed for food in an emergency. Otherwise, Fanatical Firebrand could be an interesting possibility.
