Ok. Just a quick comment about a few points:
    1. Your videos are very well made, informative and free from lame jokes (eg. Matt Watson)
    2. Sinead is a very capable presenter
    3. She is also gorgeous and has one of the most beautiful smiles I’ve ever seen. It’s good that she uses that a lot :)
    4. I love her Irish accent too
Keep up the good job guys.
Wanted to leave this comment for quite a long time but I usually watch CZcams on my TV

Thank you for defending the cvt, I am a fan too. For normal people doing normal driving they are great and very relaxing. One myth that needs busting about hybrids, it’s not just the electric subsystem that saves you fuel. On a long journey the aerodynamics, light weight, Atkins cycle, reduced accessory drain, and cvt all combine to give excellent long range fuel economy and low engine revs at 120km/h. I generally average better fuel economy on a long journey than around town. The early Prius (pre 2009, mk2) had to rev a lot at high speed causing high fuel use (about 35 mpg) but from 2010 (mk3), a reduction gear was added and raised the fuel economy into the 60s at high speed.

Europe is so luck to get practical cars like hatchbacks and wagons. North America seems to favour sedans, so our 2020 models are either Corolla hatchback or Corolla hybrid sedan - looking forward to seeing the two great features combined in Canada in the future. *fingers crossed*

Thank you Sinead, finally someone reviewing cars who dislike the infotainment system in that position, Ford, Mazda, Hyundai seem to be going down that road, it really puts me off, much better integrated into the dash as you say, it’s like an Aldi or Lidl special buy for car accessories. Enjoy your reviews followed you over from Bob Flavin great to see the Irish market reviewed so well, keep up the good work

Please hire a sound person to adjust audio levels, make your spoken review louder, and the interlude music less so. Nothing more annoying than having to turn up the volume to hear you, then get assaulted by your musical interludes, or ads inserted on your reviews. Otherwise, charming and informative, as usual.

  • @thomasatanto
    @thomasatanto Před 3 lety +2

You done a great review of the new toyota corolla. I think the new corolla is well able to take on its main rivals, [ the focus and golf] . It ticks all the right boxes for me:
    - Good amount of standard equipment.
    - Excellent reliability reputation.
    - Enough space for all my needs.
    - Good fuel economy and lower emissions than most other diesel rivals.
Some people may argue that the corolla isnt as fun to drive as the Focus, to some people, thats very important and its essential to them. On the other hand, alot of people like a calm and relaxing driving experience which the corolla delivers.
It may not have the perfect comfort levels of the golf but it is certainly better than other rivals like the kia ceed and honda civic.
But most importantly, the most important thing when owning a car is how reliable it is, when it comes to reliabiltiy, it sure is where toyota is best in class. The focus and golf doesnt even come close to the reputation of the corolla. The only other car in its class that comes to the same reputation is the honda civic and the mazda 3.

Can some explain why European pricing is so high, compared to the USA?
30k Euro equals 33.9k dollars. That kind of money gets you a WRX.
A Corolla in the US is probably like 23k.

    • @TheBlueCorolla

And like the E12 it's got a good sized boot thanks to the clever suspension set up, a lot of hybrid cars suffer in the boot space due to battery pack size but this is a good car. Spacious interior too at 6ft 3in I set the driver seat to my driving position and then got in the back and had good leg room and my head didn't hit the roof.

What is going on with manufacturers and those feckin screens that arent integrated? Brutal distracting dust catchers. We were looking at changing our runaround car for a new Fiesta but the screen on that looked so terrible Ive gone to the UK to get a Ecoboost Titanium X spec of the previous generation instead. Half the price and no jumbo-tron perched like a bobble-head Garfield on the top of the dash!!

Such a shame they got it so wrong with the boot & rear space. Would have been forgivable, only for the price. I think that makes it a non runner. I'm sure they'll have good PCP deals for this, but for someone buying it outright, it needed to be €25 - €26k max. A real pity.

Is the hybrid version coming to the US? We already have the standard hatch and the hybrid Corolla sedan - just saw it at the Chicago international auto show but nothing about the hatch hybrid. Plus we've lost the Lexus CT hatchback hybrid,.. so I'm assuming they'd fill that void with this car?? I'm honestly hoping so!
