This video is for players that have never played checkers before, but want to learn how, all the way up to advanced players. It shows how to win 9 out of 10 games using 13 strategies and secrets by a player that has played over 20,000 games online and became a Grand Master on Flyordie.com recently after only 5 months. Videos of live games will be uploaded unedited apart from graphics to explain how I use my strategies and secrets to win.
Watch me briefly discuss the strategies and secrets then take a look at the live games to see them in play:
1) Only learn 1 opening move for white and 2 responses for black and become an expert on these
initial moves.
2) Control the center.
3) Move your checkers out from the single corner first.
4) Always try to keep a checker on square 5 up 3 from the left.
5) Always attack your opponents double corner.
6) Keep your checkers on the back line intact as long as possible.
7) Get a king before your opponent.
8) Pull your opponent's checkers from his back row so that you can get a king.
9) Set traps.
10) Line your checkers up in lines of 3 or more.
11) Trade checkers when you are ahead by 1 or more checkers.
12) Stop, look, listen before you move.
13) Practice, practice, practice, practice.

Wow I’ve been playing this game for over a decade and I never realized that you have to jump a checker if there is an open space behind it. I would avoid jumping sometimes because I knew it was bait for a double jump lol
In American checkers or English Draughts there is a must jump rule. In other versions of the game, jumping is optional.
Yeah I’m partial to the NON mandatory jump version as well because I’m bad at getting trapped into being double jumped too lol

Yeah. I always thought checkers is a simple game. But when I played against a strong AI, I realized that it's quite tricky and very unstable. You could lose very easily in just one wrong move (especially against maxed AI engine). Unlike in chess, you can still hold on even if you have made a huge blunder.
I need to watch your vids very often I have a tournament very soon so I need to practice

14. Take a thought whether you move one of your checker to the side of the board because that will only forward one square and do not control many and might be useless in the future if the enemy's chechker guard his legal path.

Hi Patrick, I have bought your book. Do you know if there is a site where you can download a checkers board, set it up for the situations as they occur in the book and then move the pieces yourself to work through the various techniques, patterns and jumps.
Hi Sydney. Thank you for your purchase. I hope it's improving your percentage of wins. Please write a review when you can. It helps promote it to other players. Unfortunately I don't. I use a real checker board with checkers to analyze games I lost. I find it easier to do that.

The editing is really creative, even nowdays, thanks for the amazing video!
What should be my opening move?
And what should be a great response?
Btw loved your explanation.
The strongest opening move is old faithful. Become an expert in winning with this opening move. Most players use it. There are 2 great responses. The 1st. is to respond with old faithful (watch the various videos and you will see that I do that all the time!). the second is when your opponent moves to position 6 or 7 as their first move. Always block them from getting into your right hand corner square. See our various videos and the upcoming ones. This is normally the weakest opening moves, because you can pin one of your opponent's checkers.
We dont want to check your shitty videos
thank you
You are welcomed!
I’m here bc of ACBC. Are there easier mini games to gamble on?
im in a checkers tournament so this could help
Yes it will! you will win 20% more games with the stop, look, listen and then move strategy.
How do you get the checkers to find it’s check mate? And I understand that the checkers are checking for opponents and friends. They check and check and check
do you recommend any book? By the way, I liked the video and subscribed.
No, there are so many books that talk about the theory of playing Checkers, especially about the various openings. I suggest only one opening and 2 responses when playing second. In this way you will immediately start winning more games as you become more experienced with the subsequent moves, since you will have eliminated hundreds of different possible moves if you use all the different openings and defenses. When you start winning more, you can then start experimenting with all the possible openings eg. The Waterloo, the double corner, the dyke, the souter etc. Please let me know if you want me to record our game beforehand. Good luck!

Where are you from?
I use only one opening and 2 responses when playing as black. This makes it easier to start winning more games quickly as it reduces the possible moves that you have to be aware of. I am from USA California.
@@WinningCheckers and 3 move checkers?
3 move mandatory opening moves (from a randomly drawn card) was created to avoid players making the same opening and responding moves, which ends up being a draw between 2 expert players.
Cool video. Doesn’t black move first in draughts?
In this app. white moves first. It really doesn't matter who goes first or next as long as you agree on the rules before hand.
Are there any competitions with cash prizes??
Great video. I love checkers. I am playing a new checkers game for cellphone, is called checkers clash. You got a chest for every win. Can you explain double vs single corner? The corners look the same to me
The single corner is on the left hand side of your board and the double corner is on the right hand side. I normally circle them as I refer to them, just in case it's the first time you are viewing our videos.
single corner is#4 with red and double corner is #1 and 5 !!
Are there any differences in the international version apart from being up 2 checkers instead of 3?

I was a 12 year old checker champion I didn’t lose a game . I always Take the Connor in my 1st move .on the right .
If my opponent misses a jump, then I can take his piece for not jumping. Is that correct? And when I do take his piece for not jumping is it still my turn
Hi I have question my cousin told me if you don't kill the other players checker it foul so in 9:53 white one could have killed the black twice so isnt that foul then
In American checkers or English draughts you must take (or capture or kill) if you can. Other forms of checkers have different rules. If you have a choice of taking 2 checkers or more or 1 checker you can decide which way you want to go as long as you do either one. Hope this helps.

I am going to publish a series of videos later where I lost but should have won as a puzzle for our viewers, to see if they can work out what the correct move should have been. So thank you for your suggestion.
whats the name of the checkers app you play on?
For 2 years Checkers online by Hagstrom on Google playstore. More recently Flyordie.com.
I don't play with the force capture rule as I just feel like it makes the game less fun. Also, the rules that came with my set said that black always goes first.
¯\_ʘ‿ʘ_/¯
I somewhat agree with you if you are just playing for fun, since then it's hard to take the game seriously (lol) if you don't have to take if you don't want to. It really doesn't matter what color goes first, black, red or white, our videos cover every possible opening and response.
Checkers in general is one of those games that you’re meant to change up the rules. For example, I make the king be able to move similar to a bishop in chess
@@potatoboy549 Many versions of checkers have that rule (eg. Russian, French etc.). It's called a flying King. However, it's a good idea to decide which rules you are playing by first before you start playing1
@@WinningCheckers you giving false information, you have to jump and red has an edge moving 1st !!
@@potatoboy549 no ,thats flying kings game !
Do you play English or American or what type of checkers do you play?
In my instructions for my draughts set, it says black moves first. I wonder why its different? 🤔
It really doesn't matter who moves first.
This was an amazing video but I can’t find the app is it on iPhone?

Is it mantory to caputure enemy checker if I have chance ?
Yes, in English draughts or American checkers. Other versions have different rules.
Okay that joke shouldnt have been that funny at the end but it was lol

You just need more practice it sounds like. My win ratio dropped at first too but when I got used to using these techniques then it went way up
5:23 Kadazan Dusun and Tuaran Sabah still the top now?
No Sultan Khokar and Dusun Lotud the biggest hackers!
Oh, and your winning ratio is insane.
Yes. But if I play an expert to a master player it comes down dramatically, because a game between 2 masters normally ends in a draw.
Can you capture a checker backward
In American checkers or English draughts, only the king can capture backwards. Some versions of checkers allow any checker to capture backwards.
Im used to playing russian checkers got confused as why the king didnt take the opposing king here. 4:41
Because in English Draughts or American Checkers there are no flying kings. A king can can move backwards or forwards and jump backwards or forwards, unlike a checker which can only move and jump forward.
@@WinningCheckers yeah I realized that as you were playing the game. Thx for taking you're time to comment.

What I think I remember the king can move everywhere like a queen does in chess
Yes that is correct, but only diagonally on the colored squares (brown in this case). It cannot move sideways or up and down like the king in chess one square at a time. Also, the king in chess cannot jump! like the king in checkers.
@@jasonjrf Yes like a bishop in chess, because a king in checkers moves diagonally, but unlike a bishop in chess (which cannot jump) a checkers king jumps over the opponents' checkers to take or capture as long as there is an empty space behind or in front of the opponents' checkers (English draughts or American Checkers rules). Others, variations of checkers, like Russian, French have flying kings!
what app is this?
For Android phones and tablets from the playstore On Line Checkers by Haagstrom.
In my country, if you choose to move your checker and not to eat the other if you have the choice, it means your checker is burned/taken out. If you choose to take only one item out of your opponent, and not more- you don't have to. But at least to take one of them out. The 'king' doesn't walk only one step ahead of the other color.. the king is able to choose wherever it chooses as long as as it is on the black lines.
This game is not the real game.
One checker isn't allowed to eat backwards.
Play real checkers, or don't play play this at all..
To each their own. lol. These are English draughts or American checkers rules. There are many versions of checkers. You just have to agree on the rules you are going to adhere to before you start playing.
What is the name of the app
Checkers online: battle friends by Haagstrom. Available on android devices only.
I didnt know you have to jump. I'd rather not jump to finish setting up my traps for a better chance at winning
In English draughts or American checkers if you can jump a checker you must do so (mandatory jump). In my opinion this is an excellent rule since in your case you may set up a trap, but what if your opponent decides not to jump? What happens to you trap?
It's to stop someone from getting a king and just going back and foward

The must jump is stupid
Id rather run away or block it rather than jumping
The must jump rule in my opinion is a great rule in English draughts or American checkers, because it forces your to play accurately. There are other versions of checkers that give you the option of jumping or not and also flying kings. Those versions are called French or Russian draughts.
