Using Capresso grinder. Just learned of “RDT”. I just wet my fingers and flick them into my measuring cup before pouring the beans into the grinder. I can’t imagine so much moisture would be left behind in the grinder that it would cause rust. I guess we’ll find out in a few years.
I use a Technivorm Moccamaster coffee brewer and the Breville Smart Grinder. I do not rdt and I never have any problems. I also do not get any static when grinding either. This is a great video!
I have the same pair and static is a major mess problem here. A couple sprays of distilled water from a tiny perfume style bottle on the beans and poof. I've been doing this for a couple years and there is no rust on the burrs.
Good advice for newbies. Seems to me, at least in videos I've seen on YT, many spray way too much water on their beans. I just wet the end of a teaspoon, shake it off and stir it around the beans. My grinders have stainless steel burrs so rust is not an issue. No static mess on my grinders or on the counter.
I did get static when I grind my morning coffee. Now I light the burner under a kettle of water on the stovetop right next to where I grind. After 10 minutes on the burner the added moisture to the air eliminates the static issue.
SCG, the volume on this particular video is very quiet on mobile! I've noticed that with some other soft spoken members of your team as well. Maybe it's worth tweaking that audio up a bit for those of us with the tinnitus who watch on our phones!
0.2 grams of water isn't going to cause rust issues, especially with how oily coffee is. I understand that you're just trying to cover your bases being a distributor and all but I've using RDT for years and have had 0 problems.

I have the same set-up what coarsnes setting do you use on your Breville Smart Grinder, I have been using either "45" or "46".
See, I've encountered a ton of static with my Breville SGP.

Never seen rdt cause rust. Too much oil in coffee protecting the burrs. Maybe if you made coffee very infrequently and used too much water

I grind into hand made borosilicate glass jar.. never any static.

Some still do! It's a unique flavor for sure.
