@@PennyTovar hah, me at home: cannot for the life of me organize a thing, know where I left my coffee or just be an adult. Panic and knock lost coffee cup over. But not the one I just lost, the one I lost three days ago.
Me at work: Checklist for everything, and if the checklist is lost, no worries I know exactly what I am doing. Do my best work in acute surroundings where others panic, I feel myself calm on the inside while working fast but surely on the outside, worked in the NICU for a while. But my body caught up with me so now I am an IBCLC.

But in all seriousness I have spent A LOT of time in hospitals and the way that Penny describes her passion for patient care is just incredible. Unfortunately a lot of nurses either just don’t have that innate sense of caring or they lose it due to how difficult and discouraging the job can be. I don’t fault them for that at all but it can be really damaging to have someone who is essential to your care plan but dismissive or angry or downright hurtful to you (My hospital horror stories abound it’s really not ok)
But nurses like Penny can change the way you feel about your experience in such a positive way and those feelings lead to a much higher and faster rate of healing- - - and also just a sense of safety. Being in the hospital is scary so having someone who is comforting and reassuring is so important. Really proud of her for putting the trajectory of the career she is truly passionate about as her top priority, because people like her are SO NEEDED in the medical community right now.

I had a professor who was also a speech therapist tell us she had been hit, punched, called whore, called bitch by her older patients in her career. ☺ She said there are also patients who have inappropriately grabbed/touched her but those patients were brain injury patients and they didn't know that what they were doing was wrong.

There was a graduation style but not quite graduation at 16 but it was mostly for the kids who were leaving, otherwise you just got a certificate for results day at 18 and left...?

Night shifts really help to show you your true personality. Night shift me and day shift me are two different people and we don't get along.

I literally just decided I wanted to try and go down the nursing route a few days ago after a whole lot of soul searching. I'm still unsure if I'd enjoy it, cause there's so much negative info about the profession on CZcams, reddit, etc. And so many people dislike it, that it discourages me to even try. But you make me feel inspired girl. Seeing your joy and seeing that you feel fulfilled makes me inspired to still give it a shot.
