    Just had my first infusion of 5 and I already feel like I can literally do anything. I feel like I have my old personality back, the color on my skin is back and I feel 22 (I am 22 years old) before I just felt like an empty shell. It was so funny, I said "i feel 17 again!" And was asked later today if I was a minor. 🤣for reference, people always assume I am much older than I actually am.. I had that "tired accountant" look. It is amazing how iron deficiency/anemia/hemoglobin levels can make or break your health. It is true, our life is in our blood

      Hi! I still feel amazing but I HAVE to stay on top of my iron supplements. I take Blood Builder with vitamin c infused into them. For some reason they work better for me than the generic kind.
      As far as your gastritis is concerned, have you ever done a black walnut or Paramax cleansing? My naturopath said it can clear H.P and potential parasites that could inhibit iron absorption

      Hi mydaughter just fainted recently, then we learned “ iron deficiency” I feel like after speaking with her physician taking iron supplements, I make sure she gets spinach or iron enriched meal everyday. Vitamin c…… I just wonder how long it take to build back up because she went from 7.9 to 7 days later 8.4 currently. Any advice? Did you try on your own? What was your Hemoglobin?

    I was one of the few that had the rare bad side effects. It spiked my bp to 185/110, had the awful flushing, got an instant headache the continued to worsen throughout that day, went home to lay down and couple hours later my family found me seizing. ( never had a seizure before in my life) they couldn't find a pulse, my pupils were fixed etc... lucky an ambulance arrived quickly and im still here at age 52.

    My iron deficiency anemia is due to heavy periods every month. And the heavy periods are due to uterine fibroids. Especially, the big one I have that has caused my uterus to become enlarged. A Gynecologist told me it's pretty much like I'm 5 mo. pregnant. That's how big my uterus is right now. I was wondering for years why my stomach was poking out a little. I thought I was just getting fat, but NOPE. It's uterine fibroids. And I'm now in the process of getting them removed/shrunk. But, I can't do any of that if I'm anemic. It's like in a nightmare cycle right now. So, I really hope these iron infusions help so I can get the fibroids removed asap! And start having lighter periods and less anemia.

      @@h3royalty606 Your doctor will ask you some questions to diagnose you with a heavy period or not. Track your flow by taking note of how many pads/tampons you go through on your heavier days and how often you have to change them. I was wearing the thickest pads I could buy (those long, thick overnight pads) and was soaking them every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. That's way too much, when the packaging says they last for 10 hours. Not for me they didn't.

    My neighbor in her upper 80s and her daughter in her late 40s both have iron absorption issues which seem to be hereditary and they both get iron infusions on a regular basis. Both of them seem healthy otherwise (the mom has the usual age related issues but nothing horrible). They have not told me if there is a specific name for the cause but I can ask them. About 15 years ago I was treated with some vitamin infusions at a naturopathic clinic and reacted with extreme exhaustion. They had told me I might feel worse before I felt better and it took a few weeks and suddenly many things corrected. One doctor described the reaction to being thirsty and given water through a fire hose, that the body is grabbing for whatever it needs. Believing with you for complete wholeness. Thank you for sharing your journey.

I have had low iron since a teenager but it has gotten significantly worse the last year or so. When you spoke about the heart rate that is exactly one of my concerns and caused me to finally do infusions was the heart rate waking me up as I start to dose off. It wakes me up and then makes me anxious. I was like alright there is a serious problem. I have also have had a time getting over normal seasonal allergies this time too. I just had iron infusion # 2 today. The craziest thing I noticed the day after the first one was that I completely stopped craving ice !! For two straight years I ate ice all day every day. I would go through Chick-Fil-A several times a week just to get a huge cup of ice. I constantly ate crushed ice at home. Anytime we would go out to eat, I would automatically take a fork or spoon and start digging into the ice in my drink. Well, the day after my first infusion, I was in the car with my husband and he had a fountain soda he had just finished but the cup was full of ice. Normally I would grab it and go at it, but I just glanced at it and looked away. Then it hit me I didn’t want it!! CRAZY! I also noticed about five days post infusion that my legs weren’t shaking when I walked down the stairs anymore! My dr said my first couple of infusions would be eaten up by bone marrow and it would take a couple of weeks to see huge improvements in my exhaustion and functioning. I am SO excited to feel human again!!

      My husband has to get his iron infusion and that's why I watched this video to at least know what he might feel and what I should know about not to worry. But at the same time, even though I do not have low hemoglobin but have very similar pattern of feeling tired, not getting things done what I want to do and that makes me feel frustrated as this is not I was! I don't know what the reason is. Perhaps dealing with so many health issues to handle has affected my true personality. Our son's esophageal cancer, then my husband's lung's bacterial infection, (diagnosis took too long as much as 2 years! ) , thankfully he was out of that and we both had corona. It took a long time to get normal for both of us and now he is diagnosed with colon cancer, the reason we found out because of low hemoglobin in blood work, leading colonoscopy, colon cancer, surgery and still low hemoglobin, perhaps he might have to go for a chemo therapy, he need to have hemoglobin level up and so he will go for iron infusion. I hope I too can get one iron infusion to bring "ME" back! 😀 I love portrait painting and I have not been able to pick up my brushes and colors as my mind is not free! I wish I can get back to my passion. I have no regret for not being able to, because I am being there for my family in the tough time. They are infusions not transfusions as it’s not a blood product. I’ve been on IV iron for several years and get usually 2 rounds per year. I’ve been on IVIG for over 2 years and that comes from donors plasma and IV fluids and meds at home with a central line. IV iron burns. I used to bring a heating pad to put over my IV when I had a regular IV with the iron. When the PICC team was laid off and no one could come start my IV because I was a hard stick he started to order a PICC line for my IV iron. Now I’ve had a central line because I get IVIG every 28 days and I’m on IV fluids and meds at home. Be prepared for the medication to burn and I have bad reactions to IV Venofer which is IV iron. Ask for Benadryl prior especially with Venofer. Even with the premeds I still reacted during one of the 4 iron infusions. Always ended up spending the night on the floor in the hospital because of it. Know the reactions you may get. Most don’t get sick but I do. Can’t have IVIG and Iv iron because I really react and last time I ended up hospitalized for 5 days.

    I had all those symptoms too but I know why my body doesn't absorbe the iron. It's due to a gastric sleeve procedure. Since then my levels of iron in blood, ferritin, and everything related to iron started to drop 10 years ago! But this last year it was terrible. I got the iron infusion yesterday and I hope to feel the effects in a week. But BE CAREFUL, if you take ANTI ACIDS to protect the stomach, that is one reason a lot of people don't realise but it doesn't let the iron get absorbed. Iron needs acid and vitamin C to be absorbed so please, bear this in mind, everybody, just in case. An hematologist will know what to do.

Also hypothyroid, SIBO, NAFLD and gallbladder issues. I'm taking a supplement with intrinsic factor, vitamin B12 & folic acid as well as an iron supplement. The first thing I noticed was my skin texture and tone changed and that was on the next day after taking the iron supplement. No way can I absorb iron without taking intrinsic factor! PS - one of the iron supplements I take also has vitamin c. It's part heme and part non-heme iron.

    I just had a light bulb moment, Nilli. The things you are describing are so much of what I have gone thru my whole life but everyone said it was all in my head UNTIL I demanded my thyroid be looked at in tighter tolerances. Come to find out it was NOT all in my head and my thyroid was taken out (at that time it was all I had to do) and diagnosed with Hashimotos- which I have had since birth. But I have still fought all the symptoms I had before, especially not having energy/brain fog, etc.- always fighting to go on. Do you have a regular doctor you see or someone else? They always say it's my nutrition but I know it isn't. I don't mean to sound smug but I seem to know more about it than the nutritionists so I have given up on them. Also, are the test you are taking written up somewhere were we can get the tests you recommend and their names? I can't tell what they are with 3 letter acronyms. Also, are you paying out of pocket or is there a way to get your insurance to pay for at least some of the tests? I have spent $20,000 in the last 6 years and gotten nowhere accept what you have taught me along the way. Any help with these questions would possibly make the rest of my life easier- I'm turning 71 and would like to say the last part of my life was spent WELL. There are different IV irons and I’ve had bad allergic reactions. I was on Venofer for a few years when I needed IV iron and before my first dose I was given IV Benadryl. Before I left I knew I wasn’t feeling well and I felt feverish and I was supposed to work a 12 hour shift that night at the hospital. I had to call out and go to the ER where I had a high fever, heart rate was around 160, and I was just really sick. I was admitted to the floor overnight. After that incident I had anaphylactic premeds that was Tylenol, IV Benadryl, IV steroid, IV Zofran, and IV fluids to avoid getting reactions. I usually also got IV iron for 3-4 rounds about every 2-3 weeks apart. Out of the 4 infusions I would always react once and some reactions happened several hours after I was done and others were almost right away. It was like playing a bad version of Russian Roulette and which infusion did I react to. One was a few hours after getting home I could tell my heart rate was 160 so my mom took me to the ER and I was taken back immediately where the doctor was waiting for me and they had a code cart. I was given Adenosine which is awful and we did 2 rounds and it didn’t work. I was put on IV fluids and given other meds and again admitted overnight on the floor. On another round of IV iron about 6 months later I had just finished up and they took the IV out. I went to the restroom and when I came out I could tell my heart rate shot up. Mom said to tell the nurse so they said to sit down. They had just checked my vital signs before the IV came out and it was normal. She rechecked it and my pulse ox was in the upper 80’s or low 90’s, heart rate was up to 187, and my blood pressure dropped. They called EMS and back to the ER and admitted to the hospital floor overnight. This is all with the pre meds. The next infusion my doctor admitted me to the PCU floor so I could be monitored overnight but thankfully nothing happened. After moving to FL I was switched to IV iron called Injectafer and I never had a reaction but I always had my premeds. That’s if all I got was IV iron and Iv fluids. Since moving to be back home to help my parents I saw a new hematologist. I started going on IVIG every 4 weeks and IV iron as needed and he also ordered Injectafer. So my first IV iron at the new infusion center we did IV iron first and then my IVIG right after on the same day. DON’T EVER DO THAT! I had a very bad reaction with a fever of almost 103, a high lactic acid, high white blood cell count, and high heart rate. I’m immunocompramised so anytime I have a fever of over 101.5 I’m supposed to be admitted to the hospital and they did that day for possible sepsis. I was admitted for 4 or 5 days. It was a reaction between the 2 meds. Only once was I sent home with a fever of over 101.5 and that’s when Ian was knocking on our back door. The hospital is about a mile from the beach and Ian was a major hurricane. When we left I was almost knocked over from the wind. So I react badly to some IV iron and with the one I can take fine with pre meds I can’t do it with IVIG (IVIG is made from donated plasma from blood donors). Bad reactions happen with IVIG. Im also on IV fluids at home and 2 IV meds (IV zofran and IV Benadryl) so I have a central line for my iron infusions, my IV fluids and meds at home, and my IVIG as well as IV antibiotics, steroids, and Lasix when I get pneumonia and my pulmonologist tries to treat me outpatient first even with those 3 IV meds. Still usually end up admitted so I go through a lot of infusions. Iron can be nasty and it BURNS with a regular IV. No burn with a central line and I’ve had a central line for 7 years now. Sorry this is so long but I struggle with IV iron.

    • @C-eq1tj
      @C-eq1tj Před 10 měsíci +1

      What an awful time you’ve had! Why the IVIG? it is for immune diseases. Is that supposed to help you not react to the IV iron? Have you reacted to all the types of IV iron? I have Feraheme infusion, which has black box warning. I’ve not had pre-meds. I do the IV fluids afterwards. I’m not sure if I’ll continue. My body does not absorb iron. Feeling worse after the infusion. It’s been a week. I’m due for another one next week. Feeling worse can be because of phosphate levels or side affects of the drug Feraheme.
      Dr. Said my body destroys iron. I need to find root cause of malabsorption. Have you checked into what is causing all of your health struggles? I really hope things get better for you.

    • @debrakleid5752
      @debrakleid5752 Před 10 měsíci

      @@C-eq1tj one thing that can cause you to not absorb iron is celiac disease. Have you had a blood test or endoscopy for it? I do have that and that could possibly be a cause for that. I am on IVIG because I have CVID (common variable immunodeficiency disorder) and that has nothing to do with celiac disease. It appears to be genetic in my family because it appears that my mom has it and I found a copy of her blood test a year or so ago but she is 79 and doesn’t want to do treatment as there isn’t a cure. Just IVIG. I got IVIG and IV iron back to back one day and I had to be admitted for a high fever. I’m supposed to be admitted for all fevers over 101.5 because I’m immunocompramised. I only get IV iron when my labs show I’m low. IVIG I get every 28 days via my central line. I’m still prone to certain types of infections such as pneumonia , sepsis, and GI infections and I’ve had all 3 numerous times and numerous hospitalizations especially the pneumonia’s and sepsis. I’ve had sepsis 4 times with one hospitalizing me for a month. That sucked. Pneumonia I’ve lost count and the hospital stays I’ve lost count. IVIG is made from plasma so we have to have enough blood donors to make the drugs.
      If you haven’t been checked for celiac disease at least ask for the blood test. If it tests positive then you can also ask for an endoscopy as well to make sure it’s that.
