My son started working in the kitchen beside me when he was three years old. Many happy moments working together over the years. Imagine my surprise when he went off to college for four years and returned making homemade sourdough bread, cooking exquisite butter chicken and finding a duplicate recipe for a hambone soup that was almost exactly the soup my grandmother made for me as a child. It is so rewarding to see what they do and how they continue to grow and then come back home and teach us new things. And we get to enjoy THEIR delicious meals. Now I'm the one in the kitchen cleaning the dishes as he makes another wonderful meal!!!
Beautiful kitchen, delightful to view your cooking habits of wearing a fresh clean apron, hair up and under control and my favorite saying of 'cleaning up as you go."
I adored watching you and your son am ok together. Priceless memories. It so bittersweet to have them leave our homes to start their one lives. So happy you have a little more time together at home. Thank you for sharing your family with us.
Its great that you are keeping the. German language alive and have taught it to your children. It probably helps you to be able to express yourself more fully. German speakers seem to talk clearer and more precise.
How lovely to see you cooking with your son and speaking German. My son is also bi-lingual but always speaks to me in German although I am English. Before he left home we spoke only English together and he spoke German with his father! What fun. Easy as pie!!
So wonderful to see your son joining you in the kitchen. I admire that you continue to use your native language to teach your son while he is cooking. It is a special time to share and an important part of sharing your culture to continue on. He is a fortunate young man.
I agree all boys and men need to know how to cook!! I love how your son helps you cook. My husband’s mother had the idea “ it’s not a mans place to cook!!” My husband did not know how to boil water when we married!! But now he is a pretty good cook. At least he will not go hungry!! That’s the goal!! ❤
My mother was born in Germany and came to the United States as a 6-year-old, so she didn't remember ever being there. As an adult, she said that she wanted my Oma to continue to learn English, so no one really spoke German around my sister and myself....it really makes me sad that we aren't bilingual in German...I know a few words here are there, and I can count! Lol....I really enjoy watching your videos....thank you and God bless!
My husband couldn't boil water when we were first married. Now he is quite handy in the kitchen. He can prepare a quite tasty, from scratch meal, all on his own.
So nice to see you two cooking together 😊 Could you please recommend cast iron brand (enameled)? And also, which size do you have? Many thanks in advance ☺️
Seems the lighting is very dark! This one is lighter than others, but some i can jjust make out figures moving but can't see the dishes or food! I love your cooking, recipes, the food you cook!!
i would love to know any and all info for cranberry sauce, can it be oven canned, open kettle canned, or must it be wb or pc it's beginning to become quite expensive for 14 oz jars we're at 2.29 a can i can get a pound of berries for less than that, it's sinful. Maybe holiday items you can teach us your knowledge if possible ty

Aww … thank you! I love when he helps cook ☺️~ Anja
Great to see a cook who actually really cooks. So many US recipes start off with ‘a box of yellow cake mix’.😂😂
Oh no, not on this channel!
Wonderful video! I love your relaxed approach to cooking. 😊
Thank you! That makes me so happy to hear! Happy cooking 🥘💛 ~ Anja

Thank you so much for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
I hope one of these days I can cook like you! Without any recipes!!❤️
You can do it!
That would be quite a good variation, with the addition of some onion too.
Yes, thank you 😊 ~ Anja
Lovely. I do like the way you do the gentle commentary. Could you pronounce ‘herbs’ in the English way? The American makes it sound like a burp x
That towel next to the stove flame is making me nervous
Haha, yeah, nothing like a little kitchen fire 🤪 ~ Anja
True.

That’s so great to hear! Good for him 😊 ~ Anja
I have to clean as I go. My husband not so much. But I am thankful he helps cook ❤😊

Hi you can check the cast iron that I use here: www.amazon.com/shop/ourgabledhome/list/2SXHNAM5Y04ZC
Hope this helps! 😊 ~ Anja
Thank you for the reply Anja!
Could not find the cast iron on the list though 😊
It’s ok, guessing it’s a Lodge, around 6-7 quarts 😊
All of those dishes look delicious Anja! I’ve been wanting to try gnocchi- now I’ve got a simpler way to do it.
Hope you enjoy it!
So nice!⭐️
Mmmm. Jetzt habe ich Hunger!
I love that you use sour cream, cheeses, butter, and whole fresh milk and cream!! Such good flavor, richness!!

The cranberries have a low pH so they should be good w/o waterbath or pressure canning, especially if you add sugar ~ Anja
How much sour cream are you using in the zucchini/egg frittata
Probably around 1 cup 😊
😍👏👏👏🇪🇸
The guy almost burned the garlic and used the cooking spoon to taste the food 😢😢😢.
