On the Season eight premiere, fans saw an unexpected exit as bosun Ruan Irving left the show amid a personal tragedy and quite a bit of drama surrounding his qualifications. Ruan later broke his silence on the situation on Instagram. New episodes of "Below Deck Mediterranean" air Monday at 9 PM on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.

When Ruan asked for the group to meet him on deck for a group meeting. Captain Sandy said she wanted to come as well. When she was there, she asked each of the crew (first Ruan, of course) what the distance was from the Ship to the Barge. When he said 50 metres, right away you can hear Luka say, No. The other deckhand said, 75 metres and Luka said 100 metres. He was the only one that got it right. There is a big difference btw 50 metres and 100 metres. If he is so experienced, working as a Bosun for 3 years, that kind of mistake should never happen. So, do I think he is still lying? Yeah, I do.
Not saying he is lying about his friend dying. How come he never told Captain Sandy about it? And we all know that this was filmed a year ago, that is nothing new. He could have gotten certified since then. If you are in the Yachting industry, there is no such thing as getting a license quickly. You know the protocol of how to do it correctly. There were other Red Flags too. When Captain Sandy asked where did you go to school. He fumbled on his answer and when Captain Sandy said there was no school in Monaco. She caught him lying. He tried to find a quick way to get a license maybe for the show and he got caught.
He lied, he actually admitted this on his insta, when it first aired he said "doing it for the clicks" but then removed it all when his page stated getting attention. He claimed his was a forex trader too - so basically, he's a fully time con-man. Also, looks like he needs a good wash!
@@ClarrybellaBoobies Really? Good to know. Even if he did not say that on IG, we all know he was lying. I think he was lying about his friend too. Anything that comes out of his mouth, 99% is probably all BS. And, yes, he does need a good grooming. LOL
100% is was lying to try to save face....
I have just watched this now but did no one else notice how he said it was a guy who passed then a girl and then his brother?
The minute he was asked to produce originals I knew he was dodgy from his reaction.
@lilg9359 Yup, he sure did. He fumbled on his answers. If someone asked you if you went to class to get your driver's license. You would know the answer to that even if it was years ago without fumbling. Plus, when Captain Sandy asked him and the Deck Crew how far the distance was between the Ship and the Barge. He got it completely wrong. Ruan said 50 metres and right away he could hear Luka say No. The other deckhand said 75 metres and Luka said 100 metres. Big difference between 50 and 100 metres and working as Bosun for 3 years, you would never get that one wrong or better yet working in the yachting industry for 8 years. Big Red Flags. 🟥🟥🟥
Bit rough for them to set him up like that. No way they didnt know this before hiring him and bringing the cameras in

This is SOOO dangerous! It's worse than the Russian Chef they hired who couldn't cook; she couldn't even make edible nachos! This guy could have caused some serious liability.. How convenient the timing of his friend's passing. This guy is shady af

We all make mistakes. He learned his lesson in the most brutal of ways (in front of millions of people) so let bygones be bygones.

He said 50 metres and Luka said 100 metres which was the correct answer. If you have been a Bosun for 3 years or better yet working in the yachting industry for 8 years. You would know that without any hesitation. That is a huge red flag that he never went to school. He probably did since then. He never said when he sent a video showing the proper copies. Was it months later? Also, when she asked him where did he go to school or did he go to school. He fumbled on his answers.

@@ksmith1728 Agreed!!! There were way too many red flags. Not knowing the difference btw 50 metres and 100 metres is huge. You don't get your license on the boat as Captain Sandy said. You have to go to classes not just be on the boat to get your license. Also, why didn't he ever say his friend's name? Your friend since you were little kids and you don't tell us his name? Never mentioned it once.

Maybe whoever he took the yachtmasters from in moneco was the fraudster, he could have thought it was real but he got played by the teacher? Maybe, benefit of the doubt? Devils advocate? Who knows
is it not the captain job to do full back ground checks before hiring,this one is on sandy.
@annebutler2648 Not really, it's not on Captain Sandy. The person that Captain Sandy was texting with to find another Bosun. That is the person (guessing HR) is responsible for doing the checks properly.
Bravo does the hiring for the show. Not the Captains as Bravo hires them also.
Liars always have defending explanations, where as Truth tellers have confusion assumptions.
Ruan kept giving defensive replys, his friend safe, his friends sudden death, his course seller gave him fake doc's...nah mate you should have been confused and acknowledged the importance of having the original doc's.
It's a wonder if his paperwork was forged??

I think it’s strange that they just found out of the 11th hour right before they were about to leave on their first charter that this guy didn’t have the correct documentation. I feel like bravo vets their cast and crew thoroughly and this just seemed odd. Maybe it was for a storyline. Have you seen the statement that he gave? He explained what happened and noel has all of the documentation needed. It’s hard for me to speculate on the 50 m versus 100 m thing as I have nothing to compare it to I have never seen her ask that before, and I’ve never seen any other captain ask that question before. Like I want to see what Jaoa (Jwow?) and Nico and Kelly and all the other bosuns would answer.@@demijour1234
