Wonderful plane.. Love those Spitfires.. I'm sure she's gonna be a perfect flyer once Jeb gets everything setup like he wants.. Thanks for sharing.

Good support for a maiden, it’s nice to have a decent crew with you!

I have the same model, from a couple years ago. It is such a beautiful model, and such a sweet flyer.
    The challenges that I faced:
    - high torque on takeoff, hard to keep it straight. I needed to ease the throttle open instead of just gunning it
    - she's such an extreme floater. We have a 100m grass runway that ends in a deep ditch. My Spitfire ended up in that ditch twice, landing it long and then failing to stop or turn it in time. It really needs an extreme amount of flaps, just like the real one, about 80°. Those flaps can really slow it down.
    - the wheels keep giving me trouble, due to their construction: the forces on the wheel axles are just too big; the wheels tend to bend sideways.
I fly mine on 10S, weighing in at around 8,5kg.
    Great maiden!

Good notes! I'm sure Jeb will appreciate them. Already Jeb said he wants to look at replacing the wheels.

@@all_rc Forgot to mention a tip on ground steering from a pilot who flew the real thing: when you want to steer to one specific direction on the ground, applying roll input to the other direction will also help. The downward aileron provides more drag than the upward one, giving you a yaw in the desired direction.
I tried pulling the tail to the ground (up elevator) after landing, to try to increase tail wheel authority, but this only resulted in the model taking off again! That was my second "in the ditch" moment with the Spitfire.

Yes. I always tell people who are new to warbirds to apply RIGHT AILERON on the roll out. Rudder is not enough. And as the prop increases in torque, the load shifts off of the right wheel and causes the airframe to pivot more easily toward the left. Adding RIGHT AILERON puts more downforce on the right wheel to help keep the plane straight and level as you accelerate for proper rotation.

Nice flight. Im building an 81'' Top Rc spitfire and I wish I would have gotten the Black Horse one instead.

What dont you like about the TopRC Spitfire?

@@all_rc The plane itself seems of good quality but the hardware is stull that belongs on a .40 sized trainer. 4 of the hinge pins were broken in the wing, 2M push rods were not threaded, the Pull/Pull was 4-40 but ball links were 2M and the tail wheel arrangement is a joke. The rear stabilizer anti rotation pins are both wallowed out so it moves 1/16'' up and down.
