  • Q & A with Robert Spencer on the historicity of 7th century Islam. This is the second time we've had Robert Spencer on Pfanderfilms (the author of 'Did Muhammad Exist?', and the founder of 'JihadWatch.org').
This time we had people write in their questions for Robert to answer, while Jay took on the role as moderator.
The questions concerned the difficulties with the historicity of 7th century Islam, including who exactly Muhammad was, what we must know about the inscriptions on the Dome of the Rock, and whether the details we have of Islam tabulated in the 9th-10th centuries are merely an amalgamation of legends, myths, and folk tales, all redacted back to the person who may or may not have existed in the 7th century.
Following these questions Jay and Robert then discussed a new video put out 10 days ago by Dr Shabir Ally where he seems to admit that the Qur'an had changed, but that those changes didn't corrupt any doctrine, belief or practice in Islam. While this may be an amazing admission on the part of Dr Ally, it doesn't go far enough to explain the discrepancies in the manuscript evidence of the Qur'an, nor the classical account tabulated by Al Bukhari in Vol. 6, hadith number 509-510 concerning how the classical writers understood how the Qur'an was compiled.
In the next livestream we plan to delve into just these area on the problems with the Qur'an.
