Robert Webb laughing is what comedian's look like when they're so far deep into their own nonsense that the brilliant ridiculousness is too much even for themselves. Love it.
What you've witnessed here is 2 comedians who know each other so well, that they can get into a bit before they really think about it. So Robert riffed off David, caught himself, and lost it.
Absent his consent, Tom Cruise would complain that they were taking the piss out of him.

I get the feeling all comedians are like that in private, and when you get groups of them together that's how it goes. Comedians bullshitting with each other is my favorite kind of comedy. It reminds me of hanging out with my own best friends as a kid.

People always talk about Mitchell & Webb like David Mitchell was the shining star that put the team on his back, but this reminds me that Robert Webb is wildly hilarious even if he seems less prominent in the media and on panel shows.
I just assumed that he'd moved into more of a writing... production... directing ... kinda direction.
David has a personality and a persona made for Panel shows. Webb is probably a great writer.
Every time I see Webb interviewed he comes across across incredibly arrogant with little respect for other people who aren't in a position to further his personal ambition.

think about the quote dumb dumb, the funny part is that in his mind he's making the stretch of Tom Cruise no doubt talking about doing something monumental to taking a piss, which is something no one else can help or really make you do, its so dumb it loops back on itself and becomes hilarious

One of my favorite things is watching comedians overcome with laughter. They are always composing and cracking jokes to elicit laughter and I always find it so interesting to see what makes them lose it.
Peoples reactions are often more funny than the joke itself.

I wish this show got a second series but considering how busy both Richard and David I’m not surprised it didn’t.
More likely, the show wasn't successful enough. I love Mitchell and Ayoade, but if the panel show was a hit, they would have run with it.
I don’t think it had to do with their schedule.. primarily anyway. It’s funny but I feel they are trying too hard to be funny

I think that's only time I've enjoyed being "made to" wait til the end of a video for the punchline.
It's a shame this one didn't get past the first series. I really enjoyed it. Although on reflection, it was largely thanks to David Mitchell that I watched it at all. If it had been hosted by someone who relied more heavily on the script, it would have been a lot more dull.

Their format is a bit bland. Only reason to watch are people like David, Rob and Richard.

Took a while to get to the joke in question, but worth the wait.
When they're talking about "sauna" and the woman goes "well that is the Scandinavian pronounciation of it" I just had to chuckle. The pronounciation is closer to the original, but "sauna" is a Finnish word, which is not Scandinavian. In Scandinavia it's called "badstue" or "bastu."
That woman is Mariella Frostrup - She's Norwegian - born in Oslo.

I watched this whole series. Twice over. Not ONE of these is a "blooper". All were shown in the original broadcasts. Nice to see them again, but misleading lies nonetheless. x

The term 'blooper' doesnt refer to bits not shown in the original broadcast, it refers to mistakes, fluffed lines and unintentional happenings that occur during recording. Something that fits these descriptions that were shown during original broadcast are still 'bloopers' regardless.
FWIW, the description also says "All the best outtakes", as in taken out, as in not used in the final, publicly released version.

That is exactly what blooper refers to.
@@JarthenGreenmeadow from what i can find the term originated in the 1920s because of radios. Apparently if you tuned them poorly the radio would make an unpleasant bloop noise. Then i think theater and Hollywood popularised it as a movie term (blooper reels etc) and it fitted because of that sound check they do when cameras start rolling, meaning each clip would be separated by a "bloop" sound.
Having said that, the radio origin and all the definitions i could find do seem to specifically make note of the clips "usually" being removed. I found no definitions specifying that they had to be cut or else they werent bloopers.

This is my favorite show for Richard Ayoade's performance in. He's so... Richard Ayoade... without the over-the-top "lunch-bag-that-Mum-packed-for-me" stereotype that he puts on CONSTANTLY nowadays.
