$44.00 for a pair of underwear?
I've got a pair of sheath. My balls are too big to tuck into the pouch. When I wear them like normal jocks, I can feel the pouch on my tackle and not sure how I feel about that
The Cure needs to do a Residency there!!
U2 yucky.
Simon dl you know what ever happened to that " bird park" that was relocating and building the world's largest aviary?
There was a documentary about it on youtube and there was never a followup....
I've had the pleasure of seeing this thing in person. When I booked my suite in the Venetian, I had NO idea I'd have a "Sphere view." I was being cheap, and not paying for a strip view. Wow, was that the right choice!
My friends and I, ready for an adult weekend in Vegas, sat in our dark room, sipping drinks, and staring at the sphere. It was difficult to accept the thing is real. All of the strip was waiting for us. We had travelled very far to get there, and still we sat in our room and watched this thing for an hour.
Outside, seeing it on the Horizon, feels like a science fiction movie. It's really, really trippy. Next time I hope to get inside!
What do you mean “adult weekend” in Vegas?
I just read that the company is $100 million in the hole for 2023, but then with a price tag of $2.3 billion that's understandable. It might take awhile to make into a viable venue. As far as musical acts go, I can only think of a handful of bands which have music that's good enough for such a place, but I'm sure that won't stop Taylor Swift from playing there anyway.
I live in vegas, and I swear, it looks fake... and that's not an insult. It literally looks like a bad photoshop job... it's that reality breaking. I love it.
Have you been up to it? Is it really just a bunch of LED hockey pucks? The image looks like you said....too good to be real.
I can see a sphere working in cities like Las Vegas or Dubai, but not a city like London. It would intergrade well in newer cities, though in historic cities like London or Paris would ruin the aesthetic that people pay for or appreciate the preservation of heritage.
@@standurround589 It's hardly a structure you can see more than a block away.
@@standurround589 If you would care to write in plain English, I'd be able to understand what you mean and respond to your request.
It's got it's commercial aspects but it seems like something that's doing all it can to integrate into the community at large. When they were trolling F1 with that manhole cover thing it became clear it was more than just a corporate billboard.
The Sphere is truly amazing to see in person, my office is about 4-5 miles away and it blows me away every time I see it.
I really want to go see it.
I’ve lived in Las Vegas for 33 years and it’s probably the most amazing new addition. There is something new and interesting to see on it every day! And I’ve not heard of it causing ANY traffic accidents 🤣
What shape is it ?
Not jealous at all!
@@scatton61 yea i too im totaly happy with my life in the barren heaths, plains, and peat bogs of my native jutland, denmark. with no notable things to see at all when it comes to engineering of the future....
:(
I work at a hotel in Las Vegas and we can see the sphere from our lobby. It changes displays about every 15-20 minutes and the Emoji is when it wakes up in the morning at sunrise. From our view in the lobby, it looks like a massive sun is rising in the city. I haven't been inside yet, but I walked by it during the F-1 race and it was EXTREMELY large. Like, you need to be 3 blocks away or it's just too big to see.
Im emotionally attached to that damn emoji 😂😊
The one in London just got blocked by the London Mayor... apparently putting a big night light in a residential area was thought to be a bad idea
the planning document was retrospectively very funny to read. MSG claimed the outer screen wouldn’t be obtrusive…The plans got officially rejected after it opened in las veags
Yeah its great for Vegas but would be a nightmare for most other cities
"Taken over by roulette crazed aliens"
Well thats a sci-fi episode plot I want to see now.
I was in Vegas the week it opened and its very surreal to see. From far away you can see it and in one sense it seems small because its far away. Then you realize how clearly you can see this huge eye from that far away. It instantly clicks how big it actually must be.
Needless to say I drove right up to it just to take it all in and it was crazy to see up close or in my rearview mirror. The emoji kept looking up at the sky. I can only imagine tourists flying into the airport looking out seeing this huge face staring up at them. Really cool.
The videos I've seen from incoming flights are so cool when the emoji seems to look up at the plane.
Up until now, I had never felt a strong desire to visit Vegas. The eighth wonder of the world is this sphere, in actuality. An engineering and technological marvel.
Someone else posted: "I have never really wanted to go to Vegas, until now. This sphere is truly The Eighth Wonder Of The World. A marvel of technology and engineering."
Wtf....
I've stayed in Vegas twice before flying out in the morning.
If you're not a gambler, it's really overrated. One night of walking around was enough for my coworker and I to agree that while it's cool to be put up there for a night for work, it won't ever be a destination for either of us.
It’s meh
Penn and Teller is much better
I am lucky enough to have experienced U2 at the Sphere and it was sensational. The audio was so good, the band were able to play some songs at a level that felt like they were in a small bar rather than an 18k seater venue. It’s extraordinary
Not from where I was. I'was in Section 301 (upper left corner) and felt a mile away from the stage. Yes the sound was very good, but visually sucked.
If you wanted to see the stage you should have gotten GA tickets then.
I've been following the construction of this thing since the beginning. They were WAY over budget by the time they were done, but it has been nothing but a remarkable success. (Though I hate that creepy eyeball.) One little factoid you missed was that they even have a "quiet room" that's insulated from that incredible sound system for people that get overwhelmed by the experience. Also, the giant emoji face will occasionally troll the golfers at the Wynn golf course by reacting to their drives off the back tees. Quite funny.
I get the feeling that some people taking certain substances get overwhelmed by it and need a quiet room (and probably a Valium.)
Vegas local here, the sphere is genuinely a sight to behold. Even from several miles away it is hard to miss.
Ya boi, I wanna see it. I wanna see it sober; I wanna see it drunk.
...I can't be the only one who read that as "A $2.3 Billion Marble", can I?
Yes but 20 % off with code MEGA
allegedly
Whistler's Beard missed an opportunity in not naming it that imho
I said a giant glass eyeball lol
You're comment is absolutely marbelous!
I am not sure how many Megaprojects videos I have seen, but this sphere has to be one of the absolute coolest projects I have ever seen.
It’s a concert venue with lights on the outside where 1/2 the seats vibrate and blow stink in your nose.
Idk, I kinda wanna see it too.
My wife and I saw U2 at the Sphere, and it was incredible. If you like U2, i recommend seeing them there. If you don't like U2, if an artist you do like ends up doing a residency, go see them. It is one of the best concert exleriences I have ever had.
A bit of advise, though. Do not get seats in the 200s section. The 300s and 400s overhang that section, meaning you can't see the whole dome.
We were in the 300s and I honestly think that was the best possible section.
Thx for the advice
I sat in the 300's and felt a mile away.
@@jsimon it is a distance from the stage, but in the sphere, the stage is only a part of the experience
Probably didn’t mention because it only happened 3 weeks ago but Formula 1 took over the Sphere during the Grand Prix weekend and played an important role in the race’s promotion and overall look.
Who's here because they seen the F1 broadcast in Vegas?
I loved that race and seeing the sphere! It was awesome!
@@cva1122 nope, but I did see the race, and it looked awesome :P
@@cva1122yep. Exactly. I knew of the sphere before the Vegas F1 race. But I did not really give it much thought until seeing it during the race. What an engineering marvel.
So far it's greatest function has been trolling golfers!
Looking at this building, the death star is the only thing that comes to mind.
*Guy with n@zi flag instantly thinks of most evil thing in Star Wars* yep, checks out especially since The Empire was based off what you represent. Disgusting.
You living in a Death Star country
@@MrCheapwiskey but can the Death Star project images on its exterior...no.
They should do the Death Star on the exterior sometime.
That’s the nickname in Vegas
Went to see U2 in Oct at Sphere and it was unbelievable. Absolutely amazing. No, it is not cheap but was for 20th wedding anniversary and IMO it was worth the experience I got out of it. I have heard the 'movie' is cool but not worth the money (the value is not there). If u can make the U2 concert happen you will not be disappointed. Lastly, outside is incredible. We had room with view of sphere and even at midnight the sphere is doing crazy cool things. Just very awesome
Oh you lucky spud! I went to see them during the Popmart tour in 1997 when they had that massive screen projecting Roy Lichtenstein cartoons (amongst lots of other brain-melting stuff), so I’m totally jealous of this Sphere thing! I’m glad you had a fab time I really hope they build one in London ❤🍋😎
In Germany we have a saying "die Stromrechnung will ich nicht haben" /I don't want to have that electricity bill/
And in this case I truly don't😂
96 GWh/year
I pay around 25ct/KWh so that'll run me a cool 24.000€ per year of electricity.
That's some World's-Fair-level tech. Very impressive.
Well put. And why aren't there world's fairs anymore?
@@BlackCeII They still have them, but they've been holding them in places like Dubai, UAE, Belgrade, Serbia, and Astana, Kazakhstan. They don't get as much press coverage as one in the US would. I certainly couldn't be bothered going to any of these places.
Who knows Simon, maybe they'll build a sphere in the Czech Republic someday. If so, your Whistleverse content can be broadcast 24/7.
So glad the Mayor Of London told James Dolan where to put his sphere.
I guess you could call it an...all round success 😂. I'll see myself out now
F'n amazing. Wow! Thanks, Simon and crew.
I went to the Sphere over the weekend and I was blown away. I loved the show. I was seated in section 405, row 1, seat 8. It’s pretty much middle. Best seat in the house.

I thought the London Sphere project was shut down a few days ago. Unless this was filmed before that announcement.
It was blocked. The video likely was filmed before the news came out. So the UK doesn't seem to be getting one now.
@@GalaxyFurthat was actually overturned. However, the company withdrew their proposal.
@Nuvendil Yeah, they cited that London was hostile in the political spere. The UK these days sadly is really good at driving away investment.
Not sure if one person makes all the thumbnails but there have been a lot of typos lately. Maybe have someone proofread them before posting?
This one says Aechitecture. Another one said Magestic instead of Majestic, and there've been more.
This. This is where we create the Thunderdome once the Apocalypse is over.
I am definitely excited to see this Sphere on approach and departure from a planeee!
I have never really wanted to go to Vegas, until now. This sphere is truly The Eighth Wonder Of The World. A marvel of technology and engineering.
Could you do a video on the f1 track in vegas next
I was there for a trade show opening week and I have to say, it’s damn impressive. I’d love to go inside and see a concert or something.
Last month was when I first heard of the sphere and man was I impressed the company pulled off what essentially is the biggest TV in the world.
Building a sphere, is the most complicated at all. And it`s cruel, because every little mistake gets visible in the final result.
Thank you very much for your brillant explanations, Sir !
What really amazes me is that people don’t look at this stuff and think “all of this was funded by people who came here hoping to get rich and left with less than they came with.”
what tourist destination do you not leave with less money?
Went there 5 days ago. Absolutely incredible. Definitely recommend going
Have a great New Year's ! / / thanks
Awesome video feel like I've lived under a rock because I never once heard about this project
So, you just now found out that the Sphere exists? Can you tell me why that might be? Are you a hermit too?
Starting to believe that might just be possible basement life's hard 🤣 😂
No I also never heard about it here in Germany. And i am usually into this stuff corona messed us all up mate
It's like the opposite of a Saudi megaproject that never gets built but oh boy howdy, you're gonna hear all about it.
Will be going in June, very excited!!!
Very refreshing to see a big success on Megaprojects.
The Sphere makes the Flearfers REEEEEEEEEEEE!! in pain!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!! 🤣
The sphere proves the earth is hollow and is really a convert venue!
Can't lie, living in Vegas, it's cool to see what on The Sphere on a daily basis. 😉
Does it's added light and constantly shifting brightness make it any harder to sleep?
@@tanin34 I've heard that people who live that close to it DO in fact complain about it. From certain hours of the day it can't be glowing that bright however. Thankfully I don't live near that close.
@@BIGJATPSU Thanks for the reply!
I watched a show on tv about the construction of this sphere. It was amazing as they showed the installation of the LED panels both on the inside and the outside.
Thank you. I've wanted to know more about the Sphere. I think it's Cool AF.
Gotta love the misspelling in the thumbnail. Great production value there...
I drive by this every day, and saw U2 there. It's truly amazing and I have to really keep myself focused while driving and not stare at it so I don't crash!
I have long said that Las Vegas is a massive pile of money in the Nevada desert. Apparently, they have piled $2.3 Billion more out there.
YET the Mayor of London just cancelled the mini Sphere for Stanford, London.
Stratford, it was going to be the same size as the original and for some unknown reason they thought placing it next to apartments and housing would guarantee planning approval!
Good!! London isn't Las vegas.
Wow! That is cool. We need more things of wonder like this.
I’ve gotten used to it, but I also have a good view of the whole strip from my bedroom window. Crazy on its own but just another addition when you look at the whole Strip.
Look, it's the early stages of the Akira city-wipe.
I'd go to Vegas just to watch a show in the dome. Have to bring a couple tabs tho😅
I was driving a moving truck across the country and stopped in Vegas for a few days. They put me in "overflow" parking because of the truck I was in. I'm pretty sure that gravel lot is where they built this thing! As I pulled out, I hit a pile of small boulders because moving truck...and they all went straight onto the strip all over the road. I drove away as fast as I could.
You drove a moving truck across the country and still weren't cognisant of the need to turn wide? Or maybe the real reason was 'because hangover.'
@@bobsyouruncle1574Try "swinging wide" in a 26 foot truck out of a tiny one lane temporary construction driveway directly onto the narrow and busy Vegas strip and get back to me.
I have a good friend working at The Sphere! 🎉
Everything is insanely expensive even by Vegas standards
Their claim that the outer screen ‘wouldn’t be obtrusive’ as a way to get around the planning rules in London didn’t survive the promo from Las Vegas.
They would've had to agree on basically no/v.few outer screen displays and that would take away so much marketing income and engagement that it wouldn't be viable.
i saw this thing during the F1 race. words just don't do it justice. to see it up close, or go inside, it's absolutely insane.
I just saw the sphere in person it’s really amazing
Damn. I never heard about this. That's nuts!
Looking over it right now for the AWS conference. It is legit insane.
Depending on the band or musician that takes up residence there in the future, I am definitely interested in going and experiencing it for myself.
Vegas resident as well. I actually attended opening night of U2/The Sphere… my wife is a huge U2 fan and was able to get the tickets. The venue is almost overwhelming. Very steep seating. The visuals are unreal and the acoustics are perfect. I personally can’t stand U2, and just went because my wife couldn’t find any one else to go, but I’m glad I did because of the venue and the historical significance of the night…
I look forward to seeing this in person in two weeks.
We did the drone filming for the 4th of July debut. Stoked to finally see my footage in a Megaprojects video!
Im still waiting for them to have a rave there. Its such a beautiful amazing thing ❤🎉
That would be so cool. I really want to go see it.
When EDC happens i wonder who will play hereee
Fascinating
Accidents from looking at the sphere would happens without the sphere. People don't need the sphere to look at to be distracted.
As prime Minister Modi once said The humans are, how do you say? Retarded.
love it! will be surprised if Dubai, Shanghai doesn't pick this up
Dang, I was in Vegas July 2021 we stayed in Bally's across the street from Bellagios and the Water Show Fountain thing, When we looked out our hotel window We Saw This Thing being built Under Construction, Dang I hate I missed seeing it finished how it is now
The Meadow Lands (AKA New York) in NJ needs one.
Watching at 4:43 AM in California. Who else is watching?
Thanks, Simon, Informative.
I was there a few weeks before it officially opened, and it was on for some of the time I was there. It's really cool just wish I got to see the full effect
With all the production that goes into this show, none of them has taken the time to proofread the glaring title embedded in the thumbnail. Real professionals.
People love to point out errors. Engagement, yo
@@JKa244 With the rampant disinformation flowing through the wires, a lack of professionalism is the FIRST sign that the information being relayed is BS. Need any more lessons?
I can’t believe how fast they built this, that’s absolutely insane!
Aechitectural Marvel or Architectural Marvel?
Tool concert would be awesome here
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck yeah...
A Perfect Circle.
I saw U2 there and yes Tool would be sick. Also think Metallica
Wagakki Band and Lovebites would be awesome!
I wonder whos paying the electric bill, and how much is it?
I'd imagine the company that owns it would be paying the bill
And its probably cheaper then most industrial plants.
@@ricksterallain well ”plants” comes in different sizes and do different things so. ”Plants” is a big collection. A plant that makes steel vs a plant that bottles for example sriracha?(btw sriracha plant not so much now 😂) Miles apart
It’s awesome freaking awesome ,the outside blow’s me away and inside looks scary , great , fantastic, Far out!!
Aechetect is an underappreciated profession.
Yandelay Aechitects.
Was there a month ago THIS is the bast part of U2’s Concert. Can’t wait to see what other groups tour here 2:34
'Aechitectural'? Errrr... methinks you are in need of a little roofpreading!
Was front row at the first U2 concert. It’s the closest I’ve been to a sci-fi movie. It was amazing and surreal.
Imagine being able to play video games in the sphere.
Tell me you like neck ache without telling you like neck ache
SPHERICAL!!!
Made me think of the Nintendo 64 game, Tetrisphere.
During Police Chases, the Dome needs to turn into a Giant Eye looking at the escaping Badguy
I’m sure I’ll stop eventually, but every time I see the sphere while driving I still say “hi sphere!”
I always say hi to inanimate objects and animals. Glad to know I'm not the only one 🙂
My parents saw U2 there for there anniversary and said it was a once in a lifetime experience. Not just because of the artist, whom they love, but the technical marvel of the sphere itself. It is certainly one of the modern wonders of the world right now. It'd be cool if Disney partnered with them to bring one to one of their parks, especially with Disney's special Fx department I bet they could do some amazing things with it.
Disney is not our friend! ❤️🇦🇺
I wished they played anything from the first 3 albums. They didn't.
It’s just so impressive
Good ol Canadian export
I saw the U2 show in some of the shots used in this video. They (obviously) do not do it justice. The place is a truly amazing marvel.
I absolutely love that biggest feature of Las Vegas is a TV 😅 and have nothing to do with gambling 😮!
Man we do live in a golden age for tech don't we?
I love the idea that Sphere might spread: would love to see one in Vancouver BC my home town
Wish he would show the inside attractions it's also amazing
Im assuming they charge for the inside stuff...
If you're worried about crashing into the sphere while driving by it, imagine racing by it in a Formula 1 racecar like was done in mid-November 2023…
And are people trying to get clicks by saying *already* that the Sphere is a failure?!
This is I think one of the most INCREDIBLE MegaProject Constructions I've seen in my life! - Better than BigAss Tall buildings - IMO!
AND the Luxor... and Trump Towers... (and on and on) - This is THE BEST new project in NV in a LONGASS time!!
Not going to lie... now I 100% am going to Vegas principally for that. Sounds amazing. Love the ambition!
Las Vegas is amazing and has seven wonders brought together 💪
I built skyscrapers, and ended my career after 30 years building mega yachts. I would have loved to be 20 and working on that project.
The fact that there’s no continuous screen on the exterior is mind blowing 😮
Do you know the link to the Sphere Cam? I want to use it as a screen saver!
Had not heard about this until this video 😱😱😱 I think I need to make a road trip!
