I was in Wrexham not too long ago with my 4 year old grandson He was dressed in his "Knights of old" costume. As we passed by Wetherspoons two locals asked what was the occasion? When he replied " I've come to kill some dragons! One of the guys said " if i knew that I'd have bought the wife"
I found Wrexham to be very welcoming, and the locals were brilliant. It's a great place, and not too far from Liverpool. Go see for yourselves, you won't be disappointed

Wrexham has the Parish Church, one of the 7 wonders of Wales, because of the Spire. We have Erddig Hall, countryside, markets and our famous racecourse. The fans bought the bricks to support the club long before Ryan Reynolds and Rob M because Wrexham is a family town. The homeless are few compared to other places but in general it is steeped in history.
Wrexham-Welsh born and bred and love it here.

Just watched this video and am confused as to the reason of making it. I moved to Wrexham in 1978 and have seen all the ups and downs of a small market town trying to make itself bigger and better and not always getting it right. I have to say that Wrexham is not alone on this, I have been visiting York & Stratford-upon-Avon for years and unfortunately they have fallen on bad times too with homelessness and drugs. There are plenty of towns and cities that have large council estates and prisons nearby so that isn't unusual either. All I took from this video is another jealous dig at Wrexham for being chosen by Rob first to put money into a football club that has had loyal supporters since it first opened its doors. I am sure if we took the cameras around Liverpool and its suburbs we would see exactly the same. It takes time to build on any success and hopefully now Wrexham can grow in the right direction.

Hey jenny, I'm sure Wrexham has great people and areas, and im sure Billy knows that also. It isn't billys style to go film the posh or well kept areas, as Billy has lived on the streets and raised on estates here in liverpool. Billy showed liverpool at its worst recently with the county road riots. I applaud your defensive take on your area 👏 that tells us people who dont know it well, a lot! that there is pride in these comments from residents. Just like you to know it is not a video of any judgement as Billy is as down to earth as they come and trust me he's showed much darker sides of liverpool 😂 what area don't have those sides now ! Just wanted you to know.
There is zero judgement from Billy... truthfully, he's showing the austerity of many neglected areas and the scale of the homeless crisis country-wide. And im pro immigration, but the correct way! They get hotel rooms and homes and ta payers money, and why are they all male. I'd send my wife and child before me if we was escaping to refuge. Also the definition of refuge is to reach a safe haven outside your country, and these people are passing through other European countries, to come here. Why is that? Free Money and property's. Reality Is , if France allow the boats to leave then that keeps there numbers down and any potential risks that one with unidentifiable people, with goodness knows what records or at the least there true intentions for coming etc.

@jennywatson5645 so long as the council listen and do the wishes of wrexham residents problem I to much conflict if interest in the council with buisnrss men running the show and funneling money into their side businesses they are the reason the town is and has been struggling the heads of council do as they want and pretend it what wrexham people want then they move to new jobs elsewhere and bobs your uncle couple mill of our money has gone the football ground is tge onky think keeping wrexham afloat without it wrexham would be a failed city and act more like a failing village the problem is until the council listen to the residents nothing will change in a hurry.

I'm from Liverpool and live in Wrexham (and you used to be my sponsor in Aigburth!) and you definitely gave the guided tour of the underbelly. I live just on the southern border of Caia Park in Hightown, and see a lot of town's street drinkers coming home past my flat's garden... its sad to see how many broken people there are living there. Going east out of the town centre, with all the 80's buildings and the massive Tesco, then Caia Park and Wrexham Industrial Estate and the prison, you'd be forgiven for thinking Wrexham is an utter sh!thole. But go the other direction, you get to Erddig Country Park, Plas Power, Esclusham, Pontycyllte Aqueduct, some very beautiful welsh countryside, some old mining communities and some very decent people. Unfortunately that is the story of Wrexham... it is a town of two halves, and the Caia Park side might as well be in North East Liverpool ... the same social problems, poverty, lack of social mobility, terrible racism, substance misuse and violence. But thankfully Wrexham seems to be a town on the up. It's a city, we have celebrities in charge of the football, and tourism is having a boom too. I hope if you ever visit again you'll be able to show how much it's changed for the better. 🙏

The prison is also something we didn’t want but our disaster of a council insisted on it being allowed. To be fair despite going out of your way to find the worst areas, it’s not bad at all, with less negatives than most cities. The main problem we have is that the council built more modern shopping areas, but did it in 3 locations outside of the centre which in turn killed the centre of town. Also we are not famous for Ryan Reynolds, if you bothered to do the smallest amount of research you’d see our rich and diverse history. We’ve also got a massive art and music scene here.

Wrexham is a nice town. It looks a little drab and lifeless in places, (filming on a Sunday afternoon doesn't help!), with lots of empty shops, but what town doesn't suffer from that these days? The only really reprehensible aspect is the fact that the prison here is basically an all-inclusive holiday camp. Any convict who gets sent down and banged up here would be laughing.

Afternoon Billy lad, you was right there when you said the most harmful drug is alcohol , thing is that consecutive British government's make a shed load of tax from it. l wonder if it was cheap to buy like it is in most other countries in the world, they would equate the tax from alcohol versus the cost to NHS, justice system for silly fines or bind over orders and police officers paperwork for the sake of a ÂŁ50 fine or whatever. l always thought that they had clever people in London working the sums out. obviously not unless they are using calculators and thier batteries run out. stay safe my friend.

@Willst-l4h Thanks for your reply. Quite a lot of ex-prisoners have shared their stories on CZcams. Sam Walker once showed the portion he was given and it wasn't enough to feed a pigeon and looked badly cooked. The 1st thing I noticed about the prison in.Wrexham was how modern it looked. Compared to the men sleeping in doorways that we'd seen a few minutes earlier it looked like a Palace. When Billy asked about the food he was told it was decent. I was comparing the difference between the homeless and the standards in that particular prison
I can imagine there are some very dodgy characters in there as well as some.sound people who've just made some bad decisions. I hope you enjoy your freedom and that life unfolds in a good way for you.💯👍

@@mariadodds2042 I understand what you’re saying but addiction is a choice; incarceration is not
however both are the consequences of people’s actions. I have helped several people who are homeless and addicted over the course of the last few years, and had friends who have been in jail. Both have a profound effect on mental wellbeing and people’s futures. Having three meals a day and en en-suite shower doesn’t make up for the psychological & emotional effect of prison, but having been the partner of a heroin addict I’m no stranger to the effects of addiction and the abuse that causes most of it. The fact that we treat prisoners better than homeless people and addicts is a sad reflection and indictment of our society.

Sometimes prison is the best and only option to turn someone away. They probably get the only chance for a break away from their addiction when behind bars. At least a year to give the body and mind a chance to heal. I know many who went this route and succeeded. This is the best and only chance some will ever have at the opportunity to face themselves. More emphasis and recognition for going this route. We need success, fresh eyes fresh thinking, seize the day.✌☘
