- Patchy rain edges southwards across much of England and Wales whilst brighter skies and scattered, heavy blustery showers follow from the north. A windy day across the UK with gales or severe gales in the north with a risk of disruption - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 21/12/23. Wow these weather patterns are something else and the northern parts are catching the worst of it, my thoughts are with the folks living in the north of the country right now. Yes, Im West Yorkshire and it is definitely MORE than 'incrediby windy' it is galeforce!. This is being underestimated by the Met Office in my opinion!

8.30 and strong winds - 45 knot gusts coming along the coast of Northern Ireland. Light drizzle. 10°C. and its just getting light enough to work outside.
Severe gales here inCounty Durham , make sure you have prepped for power cuts as have had a warning from energy supplier that there will probably be power cuts !

Severe gales have caused a stir in Calderdale, Yorkshire. They kept myself and my neighbours up all night and into the morning. The roof rumbled like never before and the building itself was shaking due to the strength of the winds. Sleep was not manageable. The stats on my weather app reported the winds to have reached 50+ Miles/ph. The rain has been torrential too. I can't imagine how severe the weather in Scotland is right now. Stay safe people. 🙂

Heard something come down at 5am up in the northwest, stronger winds than forecast

strong winds?? This feels like I’m inside a tornado, these winds woke me up. I’m scared to even open my window, will probably rip it off 😭

Not sure if North Wales counts as 'the North' or not but there's some scary winds here.
Strong winds in the North? I can tell you, we are having a severe GALE up here in Yorkshire. I think it will be even worse in Scotland. No doubt, if the worst of the weather was in the "London Bubble", you would have reported SEVERE GALES in the South!!
Second night of howling gusty wind rattling the door and rain beating against the window next to my bed, in Leeds.

Why does the Met Office not mention its a storm(pia) 🤔
If this had been in the south I would have been given an amber warning but because it’s northern England and Scotland it doesn’t matter .
