Why you'll want this luxury SUV! 2024 Mercedes GLC 300 4Matic review

  • The 2024 Mercedes GLC doesn't do much wrong.
In fact, it's a really complete feeling luxury SUV, one that offers family buyers a huge amount of technology, refinement and premium features.
But it's now a hundred grand - yes, more than $100,000 AUD - for the single-spec GLC 300 petrol-turbo version.
There are faster, funner models coming in the form of the AMG GLC range, but this one might be all the car you'll need, with a punchy mild-hybrid turbo powertrain.

    4:13 - I made a mistake - the correct boot capacity is 620 litres!

A very informative video, but describing things as "good" is a bit lazy. More descriptive adjectives are needed, IMHO. I also wish you had commented on the reliability of MB cars, as their reputation in this area is often criticised.

It's a great car, for sure. In fact, there's nothing to fault in this car as long as you avoid a glossy trim on the center console. My pick would be a GLC 300d for more performance and efficiency 😊
I'm from South Africa 🇿🇦 by the way, so this thing isn't cheap. It comes at R1 500 000, which is roughly $129 000.
I'm not complaining because it simply means that I'm just not a target market 😂

Yikes! Yeah that's pricey in SA. We don't get the diesel, though. Sad!

@therightcar crazy expensive, more than it rivals like the X3 and the Q3 . With that price you you get a 2022 BMW X3 M with 20 000km or a very low mileage 2023 BMW X3 M40i.

Genuine question, what does a GLC do better than a mainstream medium SUV (ignoring the badge of course)?
I just don’t really understand the point of buying a GLC300 over a CR-V RS eHEV or a CX-5 Akera turbo or something along those lines.

To many buyers its the badge that matters.....that is the main consideration when buying

Space, comfort and refinement. By space I mean tall people can fit nicely in the front, something the Asian manufacturers don't do well.

Yep, there's rear cup holders. So many reviewers have difficulty with the double tap to bring them out. The rear cargo capacity is 620 litres. The 550 litres you showed is the old model.

    • @therightcar

Thanks mate - I'll pin a comment correcting the boot size.
As for the cupholders - they are badly designed, but clever! HA!

Apparently first tap is for "ipad/phone" holder, double tap is for cup's :)

Really like the new infotainment setup in the new Mercedes lineups. GLC's exterior is always one of the best anyway. However, X3's interior still feels more quality to me, and drives just better. GLC is fixed pricing, while X3 is always negotiable, which will end up cheaper than GLC I believe. Overall, it's just very hard to beat the X3.
Q5 really needs a big update to stay competitive to these 2, especially when you factor in "it's just a more expensive VM" (said my wife..).

I love my Ford Edge Titanium Elite and other than exclusiveness the Mercedes doesn’t offer more. Certainly not enough for twice the price. If I did want to spend more I’d get a loaded Lincoln Nautilus or maybe a Cadillac XT5. These German cars (or Korean knockoffs) just aren’t better.
