- Are you excited to see Steven Wright? Well, he's not overly excited to see us! But as usual (In this interview with Daryl Somers) he delivers his lethargic, deadpan, and sometimes nonsensical jokes, that leave you in stitches every time..

One of the very few times I ever saw Steven Wright actually smile or even laugh.
Such a great guy and funny comedian, still going well after so many years, too. Mitch Hedberg always reminded me a little of Steven also.
Thanks for sharing this humourous clip. 😃👍
What are you on about? He'd smile during his act all the time.
Steven Wight is a absolute legend😂😂
The Original Homeless Comedian. May there be more.
Steven is not pretending. All those who work with him say that he is vulnerable, sensitive and right in the moment. Never strategic to become successful. As genuine as you see on stage. A natural genius - STILL
He did seem like he was trying so hard not to laugh here at what was going on. Wright absolutely fits in with our sense of humour so well.
This show was a staple.....like and old friend, was on the telly every Saturday evening, settling up the night from before my adolescence right through when I was out clubbing in my 20's!
I guess thats very definition of nostalgia.❤
This guy sounds he lives life like the world has stood still at 8:59am on a Monday for eternity. 😂
So many great one liners like "I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize"
"I took a lie detector test the other day. No I didn't."
The master of deadpan comedy
Both him and Elliot Goblet,
Masters of deadpan.
Great comedian Steven Wright!
After this, I'm on a dream of best hey hey videos
Looooved and love the show. Glad I missed this.
Glad you missed this?
@@mebeme007 She missed this when it went live, not this video.
It would be hard to replicate this show but dam well worth trying, this is the kind of TV we need again.
Steven Wright is a comedy legend.
always loved your singing Stevie, don't worry about the drug rumours... who's the peaky dude with the hair and the emu thing?
They where good shows mate. I miss em
.....lol.... when drugs and alcohol was ok on TV. 😂😂
He's an absolute ripper 👍 FAF
Hey Hey needed Steven Wright, and Steven Wright needed Hey Hey to bounce off. They both just needed to go a bit more to their extreme and it would become a European Art Movie.
Darryl took a while to tune in to Steve's frequency.
I think what was funny was when Daryl summers would really laugh at the jokes the boys were yelling out in the background.
🤘
The very personification of deadpan comedy. I often wondered what he really was like in everyday life to talk to cos he was always "on" when infrint of the camera.
Yep she laughed at us ....not with us !
Wow he reminds me of Andy kaufman
How did he get into comedy? He looked in the mirror. He only done one tour of Oz so I’m told and I fugging believe that.😊
Huh?!
I feel deep down inside every comedian this tyoe personality is lingering i know this is his act but depression is no joke....
Yep, many comedians have secretly had their demons and issues with mental health throughout their lives.
Some of the greatest comedians and comediennes ironically had sad and rough childhoods, adulthood, etc.
@@mebeme007 yeah I know the feeling myself only I'm not a stand up world known comedian you can spot those things
@@davemustaki134
I can relate also.
Not a comedian, well not in the professional sense. But I did used to like being the class clown at school and just try to make people laugh in general.
Yet, I never really had any close friends and no-one ever really knew what kinda life I had going on at home, which was not the happiest of families, that's for sure.
@@mebeme007 sometimes these things make us stronger 💪

So damn true.
Proud to be the tough, independent cookie that I am today. Wouldn't have it any other way.
As I'm sure you are, too.
Ever seen someone completely BAMBOOZLED this is it
a woman in the audience at 4:29, looks like pauline hanson.
Which one?
