I have both consoles. To be honest, it's hard to choose the perfect one. While the 2ds XL feels like a small pocket friendly console, the New 3ds XL feels like having a modern 3ds console. I want to have the 2ds xl, but my old new 3ds xl is very important to me.
The new 2ds xl feels cheap and has a really bad hinge, the new 3ds xl has a better exterior build quality and a pretty good hinge

@@MrToon-pk4yl kinda, I just prefer the sturdier hinge it disnt feel like uts about to snap, although if I was buying for a kid I would definitely get the 2ds xl simply because kids will break it no matter what

As in, you should try both out if you are able to, a friend's console perhaps, before you choose which one to buy
IMPORTANT: the 2ds puts the volume slider under your left palm and speakers are at the bottom. I held both and the 2ds feels slightly creakier.
this is one of the main reasons i would pick the new 3ds xl, what a design flaw
You actually dont use your palm normally when using a 2ds xl, because it's "small".
It sounds like a design flaw on paper, but when you use it irl you realize it is not really an issue.

And the 2ds xl isn’t repair friendly at all. It doesn’t have a battery slot instead the battery is under the entire back shell and has to be pulled off the motherboard. And the shoulder buttons aren’t modular and have to be soldered on if replaced
I’m perfectly content with the 2DSxl I just picked up but I feel bad because I just totally scammed my friend for it. He was like “I’ll sell it to you for $100” and then he showed up with it complete in box. From what I’ve seen they can go for like $200+ complete in box 💀
They can sell for that much but doesn’t mean you will sell it instantly. He wanted to sell cheap so his loss your gain

I actually got the small New 3DS cause I found a MH4U special edition + few games for cheap.
I love the customizable plates that I can change once in a while
I got my 2DS XL to play my copy of MH4U

Most of those plates gave unfortunately become expensive af, but yeah I use my N3DS over my N3DSXL cause of the sharper resolution, though the XL is more comfortable for my hands.
My wife has the N3DSXL, I have the N2DSXL. The more intricate stuff is what has to be done by me anyway, soooooo...I'm good with mine. I absosmurfinlutely *_DESPISE_* having to unscrew the back cover of the N3DSXL just to get to the Micro SD card - and it's a fairly thin piece of plastic that can and will stress & break at the screw holes pretty easily. Meanwhile, aside from the very original 3DS inspired panel that opens to reveal the Micro SD card & the cartridge slot (like the panel on the O3DS that reveals the SD card slot), I like the feel of the N2DSXL, it's actually a similar feel to the O3DS...but with better tech inside and bigger, more badass screens.

I had a new 3DS XL,2DS XL & a new 3DS the XL is heavier my new 3DS is lighter more compact and what I don't like about the new 2DS XL is that the battery was not made to be replaced by anyone except by a technician whereas every other model 3DS new or old you can easily swap out the battery for a new one
NEW 3DS XL for the win. However, getting a NEW 2DS XL is an excellent purchase.
New 3DS XL feels so modern even today, plus the IPS display is gorgeous

I remember going to an old game shop, gosh idk 9 years ago and seeing a white old 3ds. Damn it looked clean. Eventually I got one a few years or so later, but it was a 2ds xl. Just. Shame to me that I never got to feel an original

I already had a wedge 2DS when I got my New 3DS - mostly for Red Viper, which actually needs the 3D ability.
I have a New 2DS XL. In my opinion, this one its way more pretty, but its more delicate. Its pretty easy to get broken.

you’re also playing the original resolution meaning it won’t look stretched
@@catburyinthehouse They aren't stretched. 3DS games are designed for both resolutions. Old DS games are upscaled, not stretched, and they look a lot better than the original resolution. And you can literally play them in their original resolution if you want to if you don't mind the empty space being a black void surrounding the game.

True but I don’t even know what the point of using homebrew on anything but the steam deck is anymore. The steam deck is pretty much the ultimate portable for gaming, and this is coming from someone who still uses their 3ds all the time

The new 3ds standard model (non xl) is the best cause changeable face plates it’s smaller so easier to carry around. still as powerful as a regular new V
3ds or new 2ds. And overall just better

I just got myself a New 3DS xl in place of my 2Ds xl. If it were me, I’d go with the new 3DS xl. The screens are the same, but the build quality is THAT much better. It feels so much better in the hands as well.
I have a few 3ds models. I love my lavender new 2ds xl buttttt the build quality does leave a little to be desired as it does feel a little cheaper, but it is lighter so its comfortable for longer hours. I luckily have a dual ips new 3ds xl and its screen is beautiful. However through all of this im leaning towards my dual TN panel new 3ds (non xl) as its light, comfortable, and the matte finish feels amazing.
The new 3ds xl is the best 3ds model to own and the built quality is top tier!

With the new 3ds you have a chance at an ips screen, making it better in my opinion. 2ds xl only has TN screen or whatever it’s called

New 3DS XL honestly. I just want to experience 3D in games like Mario Kart. And i was planning to buy one.
Having the 3D capabilities as an option definitely makes the 3DS still feel worthy especially with the improvements made over the OG models. The 2DS XL is still a really nice and clean system, all things considered. The styluses for either might not be the most ideal though but there's plenty of workarounds you could find! :]
2ds XL it was my second console
I have both and I prefer the 2dsxl. I have a thin case on it and its perfect for my hands and love holding it. The n3dsxl is a little to heavy and sharp to hold on to for long periods of time.
I like both but what annoys me about the New 2DS XL is the tiny stylus

I've been using the new 2ds since september 2017 and it's amazing, the only complain I have is that replacing the battery is more difficult than the other 3ds consoles, it's not imposible but still it might damage the console if done incorrectly

2ds xl is very delicate and no buffer to protect the top screen.
The only other thing that the new 2ds doesn’t have is the auto brightness feature.
I love the style of the new 2DS xl but they are super expensive right now, more than the new 3ds xl so I’d rather take the cheaper one lol

I bought 2dsxl and my friend got a 3dsxl for his birthday and trying both, I like the 2dsxl more because it was cheaper, the 3d hurts my brain after a minute, and I like holding the thinner version.

I heard the top screen on the New 2DS breaks easily and that the speakers are where your hands are, that's a no no
i have both, the new 3ds xl definitely feels more bulkier and safe to use, whereas the new 2ds xl feels a little flimsy and cheap.
the new 3ds xl can commonly run into a paint peeling issue, (especially from the heat of your fingers lifting the wrap off, horrible design choice nintendo.) so if you buy that, please buy a protective shell for it. a clear one would be good if you want to show off your 3ds's colours! for example i have the super pretty orange and black one.
the new 2ds xl is definitely cheaper, but i reccommend just saving up that bit extra for a new 3ds xl & a protective shell.
I was lucky enough to get the new 2DSXL brand new (because I bought it at launch), but I wanted the 3DSXL and it was nowhere to be found. :(
I kinda like both the New 3ds XL and New 2ds XL. Though I have a old 2DS, my most favorite of them all is the new 2DS XL because it's cheaper like a original old 2DS

My 2ds Xl screen got shattered to oblivion without me even noticing so idk if I was just not paying attention but I have a regular 3ds xl and I’ve never had problems so for anyone teetering between these options please consider that the 2ds screen is ungodly thin and is prone to breaking like that plus the screen repair process looks really daunting but I think I’m going to attempt it since I really have nothing to lose it’s already broken

The New 2DS XL definitely feels more flimsy and less well built than the New 3DS XL. It's not bad, just not quite as premium or solid.
Nintendo don’t even sell 3ds’s anymore
The new 3DS XL is amazing but the new 2DS XL is a way easier thing to clean and repair if need be. There seems to be an issue with the screens being flimsey in mine which is annoying but it makes it easier for me to get an upgraded upper screen when i get the chance so i’d say the 2ds xl is preferable. Easy to clean, repair and physically modify.

Only downside to the 2ds is not having an attachment for a second joystick. The nub it has is okay but for some games (mgs3 in my opinion) it can be hard to control. The 3ds has an attachment that clips on and adds a joystick. Outside of that, I prefer the 2ds
We have several 3DS consoles, including my New 3DS XL (dual ips 😎) and my Pokéball New 2DS XL. Sadly the materials used in thr latter feel much cheaper and flimsy, even if it looks amazing.
I really like the 2ds xl, the 3d effect is a little gimmicky. But in my country the 2ds is pretty rare and is like 2x the price of a 3ds
I personally prefer the New 2DS XL. Both because I love how it looks but also because I have absolutely terrible joints. My wrists will start killing me after long gaming sessions on my Switch or 3DS XL, I don't get that problem on 2DS XL since it's so much lighter 🥰
This is the equivalent to Nintendo switch oled or Nintendo switch lite on one hand the light is smaller and cheaper (with a few drawbacks) and on the other hand the oled has removable joycons a little bigger (which means bigger screen) but more expensive

Like think about it like a 3DS it’s so much cooler than a 2DS because 3-D is just so cool without needing glasses Games on Nintendo switch are 3-D but having the 3DS screen projecting the 3-D games you play it’s just so cool. I find.

I got both, n3ds xl heavier and feels more expensive, n2dsxl is lighter, bit smaller, but feels cheaper. N2ds xls trigger buttons feel imo comfier than the 3dsxl triggers. No annoying flap on the 3dsxl but you cant easily access the sd card slot without removing the backplate
If you're concerned about the built quality, go for the New 3ds XL or new 3ds, because the bulit quality of the new 2ds XL is very poor if compared to the new 3ds XL, it's like night and day.
The 2ds xl is more comfortable, because it's lighter and it doesn't have that bump on the lower screen that's gets in the way of my massive thumbs.
And the home button and sd card are easier to access and has a cover, not to mention it looks more modern, but the system itself does feel cheap.
they could've made the top screen for the 2ds bigger then the 3ds since it would have more room, but where are the speakers on the 2ds?
