- Christina Ricci and Raul Julia chatted with ET on set of the 1991 classic comedy, ‘The Addams Family.’ Ricci, who famously played Wednesday Addams, was just 11-years-old in this behind-the-scenes interview! Upon landing the iconic role that’s inspired countless Halloween costumes, Ricci said her friends would annoy her by always humming the TV show’s theme song. Julia, who portrayed family patriarch Gomez Addams, believed the movie’s core message is to respect people who are usually perceived as ‘weird.’ There’s also peeks at deleted scenes while Julia rehearsed Gomez’s ‘Mamushka’ dance sequence with composer Marc Shaiman!

Raul Julia died in the mid-90s.
His last film was Street Fighter, a movie that was critically panned but his role as the villainous M.Bison was acclaimed and got posthumous nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Saturn Awards

I believe that these two movies had one of _the best_ casting ever in a motion picture. They all fit the characters spot on. From Gomez to Lurch there is no role that could've been cast better.
I mostly agree but Scooby Doo live action is right up there with the spot on casting..I'd say they're tied or Scooby Doo is possibly the best most accurate casting of all time

Christina as Wednesday was a great pick but man....Raul Julia as Gomez....that was the movie's soul.
My favorite characters are Gomez, Morticia, and Wednesday. Christina absolutely nailed it as Wednesday. And Raul and Anjelica were fantastic as Gomez and Morticia.
It saddens me though, thinking about Raul Julia. I wish he were still around to see the impact he made (to future generations at least) as Gomez. And his message of treating people equally, no matter how different, is beautiful.
It’s unfortunate that Raul Julia passed away mere months after the second film was released… Otherwise I’m pretty sure they would’ve done a third film with this amazing cast.

@@PaulyWally30 Raul Julia? He technically died of a stroke, but it was essentially complications of stomach cancer. He was 54 I believe.

what perfectly cast Wednesday and Gomez. Don't know if it was Ricci's first movie, but she did an excellent job. Been a fan since. When i heard Julia was gonna do Gomez I was pretty excited to see that.
I don#t know how many films Ricci already made at that time, but before the first "Addams Family" movie, she already starred in "Mermaids" alongside Cher and Winona Ryder.
Even after years the Addams Family is still gold.

what's weird is I think I also had watched mermaids first, but then years later noticed her in her other movies and then realized I had seen her in mermaids. lol. And she did a great job in Mermaids also.
