Technically there is proof not only coexistence but also cooperation all over history: Science helps to perfect religious practices by telling which miracles/events are fake or legit, while religion either helps science to see which procedures are ethical or by shielding it from catastrophic events when governments look away. I think there even was a document from the popes about the importance of non-believers in the world, pretty neat stuff.

Despite being an atheist, I do like a bit of Christian lore and history. Knights are awesome and the Renaissance depiction of angels are excellent. Radiant winged humans are some of my favorite iconography, especially in the Christian style. Archangel Michael is epic in nearly every depiction. Truly glorious. Edit: Yes. I'm personally not religious, but my favorite way I've ever heard creationism and evolution be combined is to ask the question "who are we to say what a day is for God?" In every version it starts with something like "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness". You can only refer to the plural when you are also talking about the object you created/split from. God is a supernatural being, just like how our consciousness is supernatural. God copied himself, making our consciousness be like Him. At least thats how I interpreted it. Whether that means that evolution came after this or not I do not know (neither does anyone really, it's a theory that has not been proven yet), but does it really matter if evolution is real or not?

Despite being an atheist, I do like a bit of Christian lore and history. Knights are awesome and the Renaissance depiction of angels are excellent. Radiant winged humans are some of my favorite iconography, especially in the Christian style. Archangel Michael is epic in nearly every depiction. Truly glorious.

"Let there be light" and the Big bang are literally the same thing if you think about it.
(Also big bang theory was thought of by a person who believed in God.)
Now according to science the universe is billions of years old and the Bible says God created the universe in 7 days. BUT most people don't even know that the Hebrew word for "day" has 2 different meanings.
1: A literal 24 hour day.
2: A certain event or a period of time which can span way longer than a day.
So yes according to the bible the Earth can be billions of years old.
Now the Bible also states that life first arrived from the ocean and science confirms this.
Many people think Evangelista Torricelli was the first to discover that air had weight and everyone before him thought air was weightless.
BUT the bible does state once that God gave air weight in a verse WAY before Evangelista.
Remember when Moses split the red sea and the Egyptian army ended up drowning because there chariots got stuck?.
Well science has shown that there's a land bridge under the water where the bible stated Moses crossed the sea. AND Scuba divers also dived down there and discovered Egyptian chariots and other remains.
Also there is the book of revelation at the end of the bible which is written by John and he wrote about a vision that he saw about the future and there's lots of stuff in there which can be proven by science if you wanna hear about it.

I'm personally not religious, but my favorite way I've ever heard creationism and evolution be combined is to ask the question "who are we to say what a day is for God?"
I.e., one of the most common arguments by creationists against evolution is that in the Bible it clearly states that god created everything in seven days and the earth is only 6000 years old. But on the flip side, we are just mortals, who are we to decide what years and days are for a being as grandiose as Him.

"The Great Flood," a global deluge that killed everyone but one family, absolutely did not happen and even if it had, dinosaurs would have dead for tens of millions of years before humans existed to be wiped out.

Honestly man, and I don't believe that he created everything in six literal days. Like when he created human I like to think that he was actually jump starting life on Earth and subsequent evolution. And that he didn't create our body's in his image, but rather our conscience, which is in my head why out of every other species on Earth that evolved in the same conditions we actually have self awareness. Dunno if I took that too far.

well duh, this is the most obvious interpretation. everyone interprets God's word differently, but when I read verse 26 of chapter 1 of Genesis, that is what I thought it meant.
In every version it starts with something like "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness". You can only refer to the plural when you are also talking about the object you created/split from. God is a supernatural being, just like how our consciousness is supernatural. God copied himself, making our consciousness be like Him.
At least thats how I interpreted it. Whether that means that evolution came after this or not I do not know (neither does anyone really, it's a theory that has not been proven yet), but does it really matter if evolution is real or not?
@@bennothetenno3988 This isn't really far off from the text. The 6 days refers to 6 undetermined periods of time, not 144 hours. And I doubt human flesh looks like God, but our mind and consciousness does.

For example, "The commandments you have set in place are unjust and cruel" or it could just be that he's a dick.
