What Netflix did to The Witcher by firing Henry Cavill who was the most passionate person on set and mucking up the lore was horrific. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich the show runner is another example of what a German can do to anything Polish.....

Andrew mentioned about spinoffs and paying fewer actors as a result. I'm thinking that's what happened to The Witcher around Season 3. The plot was not about the Witcher anymore. They kinda wanted to get away with a spinoff withing a show those Bastardos. :D

Henry Cavill didn't get fired, he quit the show. He was a gatekeeper on set and didn't care about adaptation. All he cared about was recreating the Witcher 3. He read the books after getting the part and got even more gatekeepy and insufferable, saying that Geralt needed to have internal monologues because the books are from his perspective. Completely missed what made his performance so good in the first season.

Its seems a lot of people on here think million dollar actors who live in Los Angeles are the ones who are striking and make up a majority of SAG. They dont. They are in the top 0.1% of all actors in the US.
There are over 160k actors who are part of SAG across the US.
These actors arent just in California. They are also in Texas, Kansas, Georgia, North Carolina and all over doing a lot of extras work as they try to break in the industry to hopefully shifting to Los Angeles or New York or Atlanta.

The only reason the actors could demand such high fees is because the studios were making so much more money off that. They would sell the season to ever other country around the world. Syndicated around the world. But if streaming is in every country. Those shows are still being sold to networks around the world. So the studios are still making money off these series and âpre probably writing off tax against any country where their streaming service is airing the episodes.

Certain shows, like British bake off, aren’t produced by Netflix. They just pay for streaming rights which means it’s available in more countries and hopefully draws in more subs. But Netflix doesn’t negotiate any of the talent contracts. Netflix produced shows usually have a one season with a 2nd option year to be enacted by Netflix. If the show is popular they do a second season. But by 3rd they have to renegotiate which is why many shows are never renewed.

Yea, you can say no one would see the movie without Tom Hanks but if it wasn't Tom Hanks then it would just be another beloved actor. This isn't the 1980's, there are so many "top" tier actors. It all boils down to greed anyways. Anyway you cut it.
