    I'm glad this piece was chosen to be revisited. As was said in the video, you have to try it on to really tell if it's right on your wrist. I have a 6.3 inch wrist, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well it wore on strap (not the bracelet). If you have ever worn a Speedmaster, which I owned for several years, the wearing experience for the BB Chrono is similar to that. Not a small watch by any means, but probably not as big or chunky as what's been said about it. Again, nothing beats actually trying it on for yourself. Still tempted to get one!

      The biggest difference between the speedy and this is the Tudor’s slab side which makes it look huge. The speedy has a faceted case with thin lugs and a rounded caseback that make it visually thinner and sit lower on the wrist

    I bought this watch 2 weeks ago on the bracelet. I did express my interest on day one. 2 years later I see one in the local AD window. So I brought it. The watch is definitely more available to buy in store now. But honestly I thought I would have it a lot earlier. I have purchased 3 Rolex models from my AD since 2019, thought would have in 6 months. My AD were just not getting many of these watches in. The price was £3900 but ended up having to pay now £4450 which is still a lot of watch for the money. Plenty on e. Any under list price. But it’s nice to have a new one, for the sake of a few hundred pounds.

    Another good review Oleg, I cannot disagree with any of your comments including a preference for no date but as you say it works OK with this watch. I got mine on the bracelet back in January and I'm pretty happy with it on my 7" wrist. I also tried it on before making the purchase. The reverse panda dial should have better at a glance readability but I'll be sticking with the panda.

    I fell in love with this watch when it was first released and had come very close to pulling the trigger on it a number of times. Since that time however, Seiko came out with the Speedtimer series, and the newest 41mm with the silver dial was impossible to resist. So, for the money and the incredible looks and Seiko -quality build (solar no less), the Speedtimer was the one I went with and am extremely happy with it. Still admire the panda Tudor BB, but for the money and from a value perspective, the Seiko Speedtimer wins for me, hands-down. Thanks so much for the great review!

    I can't really see Tudor doing a handwound model, it would kind of go against their ethos. That being said, I was lucky enough to get it upon release on a bracelet and I have since added the Tudor nato and leather (incl bonnet) to the mix... Prime stuff indeed!! Though it is no longer a daily wear for me, I go back to it fondly: I love the looks, the movement, the water resistance and the value proposition ❤

I’ve had it on the bracelet since March, ‘22, and I’ve been thinking about getting the brown leather strap to change things up, and maybe tone it down a bit. I keep going back and forth on wether to buy the strap or not, because I don’t know if I see myself really tucking that gold bracelet away in a drawer…. I wouldn’t recommend it for a one watch collection though-so much heft and wrist presence. 👍

    One thing to worry about with this watch is having silver and white hour and minute hands against a silver/white dial. In photos and close-up shots they look great. But in reality it makes it hard to see the time quickly, especially in darker rooms. I've sold off about 2-3 white dialed watches because of this fact. I'd go for the reverse Panda version of this watch if I didn't already have the Tudor Steel/Gold chronograph version. The Steel/Gold version is not nearly as popular as the Panda and Reverse Panda but take a look at them because you can get a good deal on them if you look hard enough. It's been a very solid watch that looks great, funky, but great!

      Ive had this watch for over 2 years. I don't understand this complaint from non owners. Not once have I ever had an issue telling time on this panda variant. If you owned it, you'd know that the hour and minute hand is a more pure white than the dial. The dial is like an ivory white. So there's more than enough contrast. Now if you're a senior citizen with aging eyes, then sure I guess that could be an issue.

  • @jamesminshall4601

    I thought it looked fantastic in photos but I was dissatisfied with the non matching date wheel when I tried it on, the stark white clashes with the pearlescent dial. Trying to match and failing is worse than choosing not to match. I think I would chose the black version with the stainless bezel.
    I could pick one off these up tomorrow on bracelet in my local small town but I’ve yet to even see an fxd. I’d say that’s the most difficult one to get hold off.

    Ok. I have this watch with the SS bracelet. I bought in used, but perfect condition almost unworn condition. It’s a terrific chronograph with a great power reserve. It’s a keeper for me!
    The two most important points that I want to make very clear for anyone who is considering one are:
    1. The pushers can absolutely be (A.) Unscrewed while on the wrist simply but tilting the wrist away from you. Then, even I with very large fingers/hands (size 14-15 ring finger and 8” wrist/ 6’2”/220(100kg) can easily unscrew them without taking the watch off and (B.) You 100% can leave them unscrewed without having any concerns about accidentally getting water in the case as there are excellent gaskets that will not allow water in for example from a sink faucet or shower head.
    2. This is a large 41mm watch that is built tank like and is not for someone who is not use to wearing larger watches. Do not waste your money if you are concerned at all about size. If you do not have at least a 7”+ wrist and weight 200+ I strongly do not recommend it. It is the heaviest watch I have ever had on my wrist with the exception of a 46” Breitling Super Ocean Heritage. The way I purchased the watch was from someone who bought it and then immediately after wearing it for two days thought this is simply too much watch.

    There seem to be alot of people selling their Tudors atm. I’ve tried this one on at an AD and it’s mahusive. The thickness per-se is not the problem, it’s the slab side that makes it *feel* so much thicker. But the lug-to-lug is too long - there’s no need for it - and that sealed it as an absolute “no” for me. Maybe the slab-side and unnecessarily long LtL design language is causing many people to move their Tudors on, despite the attractive overall look? 🤔
    It will be interesting to see how the more reasonable (on paper) BB54 fares by comparison (I’ve yet to try one on).
    Thanks for sharing 👍

    • @trailrunnermike
      @trailrunnermike Před 9 měsíci +1

      As the happy owner of one of these, I do agree, however this is only happening because of the high percentage of people who are new watch buyers that buy a watch without trying it on. There mistake is a larger guy’s blessing of what I have come to discover is the most excellent chronograph you can buy for the price. Incredibly accurate and a 70 hour power reserve that’s a game changer.
      I still find it amazing that virtually everyone under 35 thinks that buying most everything on line is the ideal shopping experience. Watches, clothing, shoes etc.. I guess is you put a low value on human interaction and think the way to go is to believe what you “learn” digitally is good enough information to make a purchase than you get stuck reselling your new watch at a loss to someone who does not follow the same rules.

    Had the inverse panda. Loved it ... but it had a few fatal flaws, so I had to sell it. First, on a bracelet it is very heavy - over 175 grams. On a strap (nato or leather), it is very comfortable though. Second, the right subdial is not very legibile. As a person who uses their chronographs daily, that was an issue. But the death blow was screw down pushers, which I hated much more than I thought I would. If you time multiple events daily, it is destroys the enjoyment of the watch, at least for me.

    • @qchang09

    • @GCPlati85
      @GCPlati85 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@qchang09 Nope, didn't dig. It is that you have to take the watch off and unscrew the pusher to activate the chronograph, and then take the watch off again and unscrew both pushers to stop and reset. If you're using a chronograph multiple times a day, it is a pain. Two more things. One, you can't unscrew them while it is on your wrist, as it risks damaging the pusher stem. Two, you shouldn't leave them unscrewed (I know Paul Newman did...) because it 1) exposes the pusher stem, which means it can be snapped off, and 2) destroys the water resistance such that I wouldn't even wash my hands with the pusher unscrewed.
