I adore the Pentax 645 (I have the 645N). It is fun and satisfying to shoot!
It has been fun!! Thanks for watching :)
I have a pair of Mamiya med format cams and I love them, specially my 6x7!.
Such a good day :)
Fun video! I would have skipped the diffuser on the 645. It kinda defeats the purpose of 120 film.
Yea unfortunately it was an accident and we didn’t realize until after we used the camera :( I took it off quick haha
Just got a 645 loved your video.
Ah nice! Enjoy it :)
what a beautiful human being you are. I feel very happy to see you, in this video,
ah thank you for watching!
Here I was wondering if it's worth continuing to shoot both film and digital. Lovely video, and that's a generous gift!
Thank you for watching!! :)
Good stuff. Tip for taping your exposed roll: fold the small leader tab at the end of the film roll underneath itself before taping the film down. This is not necessarily vital, but whoever is developing your film will be happier for it, since it makes their job easier in the dark, and is the “correct” way to do it.
Thank you - I am constantly messing that up lol... Thanks for watching!
@@TheZachMendez Gladly! I forget at times. I’ve re-taped them before with a paper tape when I caught it before developing, since I go to a local place and know the guys who develop it.
Hey! Great video and gift! I had some questions and maybe y’all could shed some light on this for me. Is that the LS 75mm?
I just bought this set up and I’m pretty sure I understand how to use it NOT in leaf shutter mode, but as a standard lens. But since it doesn’t have an Auto setting, do you set your own aperture and the camera selects the shutter speed?
I'm sorry I don't know enough about MF cameras to help you! But thank you for watching!
The 645 feels like has a 1/2 black mist in front of the lens which makes the photos less contrasty and spread out the high lights. , nice video tho
Yes I know :( We didn't realize until later that there was a diffuser. Thanks for watching!
Landed here after finding that exact camera lens combo at a local yard sale. What does it mean to shoot Portra 400 @ 200? Are you simply under exposing or will you tell the lab to process as if the film was 200 ISO?
If you shoot as if the film is 200 (but it’s actually 400), and then allow the lab to develop it normally, as 400 film, you are simply overexposing by 1 stop. This is because 200 film would require 1 stop more light than 400 film for correct exposure. This isn’t really pushing or pulling, which is done by altering the developing time. It’s sort of like turning up the “gain” or the “brightness” of a digital image by 1 stop.
its pull processing. yes basically you are under exposing film but the advantage is you get a finer grain. If lighting is good you will get crisper pics with pull processing. I often push film which is the exact opposite.
Why would you take the time and effort to set up an entire side by side comparison shoot, and then completely ruin it by adding random "plus diffusion" to EVERY shot...? To be clear I'm not saying it's ugly or terrible, just that it's not a clean comparison anymore.
The camera was new to us and we didn’t realize there was a diffusion filter on until after the shoot.
@@TheZachMendez I don't really see this as a "comparison" video, technically or even just a try. I enjoy this video as it shows the best part of taking photos, enjoying a sunset walk with closest partner, and plus it does show how satisfying of taking film. I recently bought my Pentax 645. Zach you guys are really cute, and good job keep going!
