A new Hornby Dublo modular layout

- After many years of collecting Hornby Dublo trains and constructing Airfix Railway Kits from the 1950's and 60's this is the first stage of constructing a layout using modular baseboards. Today's video is mainly running a few trains to see if the track plan works and to identify any problems.
Hello from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. What an amazing and excellent layout Guy, I am 68 now and can remember a lot of things on your layout. The first track I ever had was the two rail track with the grey plastic base. When I left school i got a job with British Rail in 1970 and spent most of my working life on our railways and I don't regret a moment of it. Thanks for letting us see your wonderful railway. Hello Martin, many thanks for your lovely message. I very much enjoy modelling with Hornby Dublo trains and Airfix kits from this period. I often see your messages on Oscar Paisley's excellent CZcams channel. I'm delighted to hear from you. I grew up in Tasmania but my Dad came from Sunderland, so I have always had an interest in British railways. I live in France now. Building this layout has been a great pleasure but there is lots more work to be done to get it finished. All the best, Guy

@@martinhall60 The French railways are great, very interesting and the TGV is very fast and comfortable. Most French people model in HO, but the layout I am modelling with Hornby Dublo is 00 of course. The standard of modelling in France is very good.

@@martinhall60 Hi Martin, lovely to hear from you again. I am trying to finish a new video but springtime is a very busy time for me with my business so I haven't quite got it done. Maybe this Sunday, after watching Oscar Paisley first of course. The next video will be about my new Hornby Dublo EMU. I always liked the Dublo EMU and finally I have got one. I am also working on some new trams for the little municipal tramway on my layout. I will do a video on that after this one. All the best! Guy
I like the simplicity of your modelling. sometimes I think the magic is in the models untouched, not weathered, just let the imagination do the work.

Hi Oscar, thanks so much, I'm delighted that you have seen my video. I hope to do one about once a month. It's more of a winter project for me as I am very busy with work in spring and summer. I've still got my R1 that arrived in the H/D goods set 60 odd years ago.

Hi Tom, I think the world has always been disintegrating around us. I am a specialist in ecological restoration, have been for 40 years, it is complex and difficult work. I find that 'playing' with and restoring vintage trains is relaxing and clears my mind so I can work more effectively.
