- Hi, I am Preksha 👋🏽
I graduated from NLU Delhi in 2022 and worked with a corporate law firm here in Bangalore for a few months after that. That is, until I quit.
In this video I share that story with the world.
Before you watch the video or even as you watch it, it is important for you to know that I didn't make this video to share gossip or bad mouth the people and organization I really respect. The sole reason behind making this video is that if there is anybody who wants to leave their law firm job but is unsure how to, they can watch this video and feel more seen, heard, and at ease.
After leaving the law firm job, I now work with a wonderful health teach startup and we are building mental healthcare for India.
I am here to talk to you if this video resonates with you and would be more than happy to answer any more questions you might have 🫶🏼

How to work with start ups? could start up work be done remotely? please answer
Whatever you said in this video I have faced all of these while working in one of the top private sector bank of India. So this is a normal practice of companies be it a law firm or Bank or anything else. Being a married man you even can not quit whenever you want to specially when you have to pay your home and car EMI's. Har roj khoon ki ghoot pee kar naukri karni padti hain..

more power to you !!
Truly spoken out the harsh reality of our lives!!
This thought is always building up in my mind as a litigation firm, where I am fed up with work culture of law firm. However mine is not that bad but to think in terms of growth what type of work culture is offered in tier 1 firms is scary and makes me shift career paths all together.
"I really related to you when you explained the first reason why you left the legal industry. It felt like I was listening to my own thoughts, as that is exactly what I want to do. Thank you for sharing your experience and making me feel like I'm not alone in wanting to shift from law to entrepreneurship."
I am a NLU Visakhapatnam 2021 graduate. I have been working for Big 4 consulting firm for the last 3 years and I can completely relate to you. Long working hours, lack of work life balance and no room for innovation and a new approach to your current work. Money is good but it can motivate you to some extent only
More power to you❤
thanks!
What to do with a law degree other than law ? please make a video on it.
One thing i want to mention doctors also have the hectic schedule but they can't leave the job.
Very proud of you Preksha!

What about litigation?
Can you tell me, do the big firms also hire employee who are from local college?
they do but it is undoubtedly more difficult to get there. all the best
What work in going on law firms , example taxation, which app should people. Awareness to interview purpose 😅😅😅😅plz make video
FINALLY SOMEONE SPOKE ABOUT IT!
Thanks!1
Aside from the fact that one is not an employee - what you describe in terms of leaves, competition, working weekends is in fact of life in every single field including in fact startups of any kind. Some startups can be toxic in every sense of the term just as an established listed company can be just as toxic. Well rounded/ balanced life is a fallacy unless u work for yourself and your business / profession has tajen off. And u didnt hit on the politics in a law firm - why not?
👍
You speak so well, Preksha! So proud of you and all the best for your future endeavours.
Thank youu Ritwik
You experienced the firm culture and quit. That's great at least you quit after experiencing it. But the thing you quit the same law firm job...is a distant star for many who come from small towns and are first generation in the field of law. They may never even get a chance to be part of it for their whole life.
It's just perception..which drives all of us.😊
Ma'am after law in which field are you working currently.
If someone wants to start a business which field is the best?

Regarding the point you mentioned about "Not an employee"- does this also happen with the support departments in a law firm? (like Finance, HR etc).
Also, as a "non-employee" in a law firm, are women eligible for maternity leave?
I'm unable to find any information online regarding this.
@@ashwathinambiar4004 Hi so lawyers are on retainer basis and I believe other employees are on employment/ contractual basis so it might be better for them in that sense. In terms of maternity leaves etc, the policies are very good so they do provide that but as far as I understand legally, on a retainer basis, they are not obligated to provide them to their lawyers.
Okay, thank you 😊👍🏻
Can you put some more light on how you got a job in a startup and what skill sets are required, because I am in the same position I want to switch as an in-house council in a company but I am unable to land any opportunity.
