This is a Wuxia game. Think Romance, Prevailing against all odds, Flashy supernatural melee weapon combat. Film examples include "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", "Hero", or "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate"

Hard disagree on "this is what Ninja Gaiden would've turned into". The combat in this game is flashy, but many the actual character movement looks hella jank. Reminds of the Chinese/Korean tech demos that graphically look great, but controls are stiff and jank.
