    I connect PS1 via RGB SCART to Retrotink5x and PS2 via component to Retrotink5x and use the 1080p HDMI output on my flat panel LCD TV. However, my TV is old enough to have inputs for composite, RGB SCART and component as well as a couple of HDMI ports. I've connected both the PS1 and PS2 directly to the TV and the picture is great that way too. However, no way I'd called the Retrotink5x a 'budget' option

    I got Level Hike adapter, which is same form factor as your recommended adapter. I got a Samsung QLED 75 (is the only TV I have) and the adapter is no good. It is very pixelated regardless of the settings I use, and it gets worse during gameplay. Now, I must consider that perhaps the adapter may have a size limit for the screen.

    3:19 Apparently, PS1 games were showing up (and are playable) when using that adapter but probably because I was using a widescreen/flatscreen TV that supports the adapter and 240p? I have other widescreen tvs in the house and none of the others work besides that one.

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  Před 8 měsíci

      Try flipping the widescreen switch over and back. I bet it works again

  • @Kryspa7
    @Kryspa7 Před 5 měsíci

    Hi! How does look the situation with the input lag, was it noticeable on the levelhike adapter? I'm currently playing Gran Turismo 1 & 2 on my old led tv which has RGB/Scart port and i'm using it for playing. Although depending if I set up 4:3 or 16:9 there is a significant change in the reactions I get from my inputs so from 16:9 I have to go to 4:3.
    And now because i'm planning to use a HDMI Adapter on my display instead of the TV which is also in my room where I got my PC, PS4 and any other things I would like to use it having good quality but also no input lag. My question is does the upscaling to 720p have a bad influence on the lag and does it also vary if I choose either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio because I could see myself playing full screen or 16:9 "maybe" but i'm also a little unsure if on 4:3 actually there would be still bigger lag than on the TV with 4:3 set on a RGB/Scart cable.
    I have a bit of dilemma because Kaico PS1/PS2 Adapter uses the RGB/Component switch and I think in case of at least PS1 it doesn't upscale, just clear and improve the image quality so it should not increase the lag with adding resolution. While the Levelhike the seller and some peoples reviews says that even with 720p upscale or the aspect ratios switch there is unnoticeable lag.
    Which of those HDMI Adapter should I use to have "not saying the best like on retrotink" but acceptable quality on both PS1/PS2 consoles while also not having any input lag. Could it be Levelhike, or maybe something like Kaico, Hyperkin would be a better option.
    Answer and help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and nice video btw. 👍

    • @GearsAndTech

    Have a 4k Sony Bravia TV and it can't handle the ratio switching from the hyperkin. Quite annoying for Silent Hill because opening and closing either the inventory or the map means I have to hit the switch.

  • @systemmonitor5295

    You're completely wrong about the PS2 To HDMI not working for PS1 games ON PS2. The issue is that the PS1 games switch outputs depending on what's being displayed, for example cutscenes or the inventory menu in Silent Hill. The device still works fine, but those resolution changes freak HDTVs out and cause a black screen or a signal loss for a few seconds, which makes something like Silent Hill impossible to play. A way around this is to use Free McBoot to force PAL or NTSC in the GSM settings.

    Is there a simple setup, that doesn't require a PC? Just a straight-up plug-&-play!? For both consoles!

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, the method shown does not require pc. I'm outputting to a pc monitor here, not connecting through a pc.
      You can plug this into your system and right into any hdmi display or TV

    Oh HELL no... Kaico Adapter is NOT the way to go! It produces a soft video output as it doesn't know how to "Process" the signal it receives from either Console correctly. The Pound PS2 HDMI Cable is the same junk as this! They use Cheap RGB to HDMI converter boards in them!
    Just use good quality RGB Scart Cables and an OSSC.... That is the best way if you don't want to buy and install a PS1Digital (or equivalent Device).....

    My Xstation PS1 with Memcardpro is on a CRT (and looks amazing,) but that TV will probably die, at some point. I think I will need to add HDMI to my PS1, eventually. Currently, I am on disc 2 of FF7.

      The cable likely is using the composite signal to switch to hdmi.
      You need a different cable and it will be more clear
