In case anyone has ever wondered where to even start with mods in Cities, we think this video will give you some good ideas ;) Big thanks to two dollars twenty for compiling them into a top 10 list!
Would you have any other candidates?
please reply! i love this game and im a ps4 cities skylines player, and i want mods! please reply to this!
Edit: i really want the "plop the growables" and "move it" please!!!!
Yes a person did functional parking gates. And areas. Will be cool see that as part of the game in a future update. Is add train stop sequence to roads residental parking gates and elevated funtional bridges.
Parking Lot Roads!
Can you guys recommend PC specification to play cities skylines full dlc in 40fps or more (with a 80k population or more) and below 550watt power?
,but with just a little stuff from workshop like:
1)move it
2)extra landscaping
3)fine road tool&anarchy
Thats it, i dont even want to use asset from workshop
Right now i'm really strugling to play in Asus GL503GE laptop. 550watt is my limit because my house only has 1300watt power
@@drifzyy understand ps4 is omega weak in ram. This game use ram like water. At least 16gb ram as base for mods. Otherwise will be impossible
"81 tiles" would be in my top 10
Definitely!
I think 81 tiles could replace relight
👍👍
Causes instability and countless other underlying issues. Stick with 25 Tiles if you care about a more stable game at all.
@@aseroxd I've never had any issues with 81 tiles. The only instability I've had has been with network mods.
OMG!!! We almost had a fatal accident in 6:20
This girl in yellow is craaazy
Lol
You must not play this game that much
Excellent list, well done 2d20 👍😁
hi biffa
You rolling with advantage?
Excluding Ultimate Eyecandy, these mods define the playstyle of Cities Skylines almost as much as the basegame itself. I feel like you really need these mods in order to unlock the true potential of this wonderful game.
And Relight {No hate btw}
@@MrAmericaninUK oh yeah, that's not essential to gameplay either
@@namenamename390 not eyecandy maybe, but something alternative it’s a must have
"How do you plop the growables?"
"With Plop The Growables."
With Find It 2
I've recently come back to Cities after a long hiatus, and am so pleasantly surprised by your content and character. What a joy. Thank you very much for supporting the community.
You took an impossible task, to pick ONLY 10. Yet still a pretty good list. Maybe the top 20 would be better?
Loading Screen Mod should be in top 10 definitely.
Precision engineering is not essential for beginners, but it is still the most popular on the workshop of all time
Plop the growables is nice for beginners but it is getting obsolete since the new Ploppable RICO has that functionality incorporated.
A well deserved 1st place. Move it is really the heart of modded CS. Overall, the list itself is on spot. Only one i have my doubts is Surface Painter. Not because it's not useful, but i always felt it could benefit from some improvements. Like Sway amazingly did with find it. It doesn't work a lot of times and some surfaces always paint at 100%. Something like opacity control would be beautiful, as well as the option to upload our own textures. For me, Forest Brush would be a challenger. It is very well implemented and it's incredible for greenery. But choosing a top 10 is a hard job. Mods took this game to another level. I would never play without them. Thanks 20, your vídeos are always very empathetic.
Real Time would probably be my top mod, since that mod makes the day/night cycle actually work.
Real City is amazing, too.
Top of my list. Always, always installed... *Loading Screen Mod*
Of course
remember watching his videos for the first time, marble mountain just started then. I was so stunned how good he made everything look!
this video is exactly what I have been looking for for so long. Thank you so much!
Move it made me wondering: what is the ALL TIME, any game, Most used mod in the History of video games :)
Probably optifine for Minecraft(?)
Team Fortress for Quake/Half Life?
Defense of the Ancients (DotA) for Warcraft 3. the only mod that create its entire genre (MOBA) and spawn so many games like Dota 2, LoL, HoN, SMITE, etc.
@@knmaherijayatp8181 counter strike was a mod to Half Life, so not the only one ;)
edit: oh wait, you said 'genre' so CS does not apply, but Battle Royale was a mod in arma first, so there, not the only one ^^
If we're talking total numbers, then my guess is easily something related to Minecraft like optifine. If we're talking by % of players downloading a mod, then my guess would be closer to something like gta san andreas multiplayer, hoxhud for payday 2, or the skyrim script extender just off the top of my head. Also while TECHNICALLY it counts, I'd argue that Garry's Mod is its own standalone game rather than something "modding" another game. Otherwise it's likely that Gmod might be #1.
Awesome video! I came here to see if there were any essential mods which I wasn't using, I was already using 9, so thanks for the tip! Move it surely is the number 1 Mod!
Pretty good list! 👍 Thanks!
These mods are so good that we usually forget we have then installed. Great list!
Always love these top 10! 😀💙💙
Excellent choices!
I loved it, thank you very much
Thank you!
220 was a great choice for this video; with such a huge diversity of series, you get a pretty good feel for what you need every time! And it's a pretty spot on list.
I think mine would be similar. Move It, Fine Road Anarchy, Fine Road Tool, Prop and Tree Anarchy, Prop Snapping, Tree LOD Fix, Adaptive Prop Visibility Distance, Plop the Growables, Hide It, and Loading Screen Mod would probably be my picks. Assets can stand in for Surface Painter in a pinch, and I think if you find a good enough LUT you can get by without relight. But it's hard to pick, there's some really good ones ;)
I know "should be part of the base game' comments have been done to death, but there are a couple of these that feel like strict improvements. Find It is often just more convenient than the menus, and no reason vanilla players shouldn't have access to that, I feel. Likewise, even though Loading Screen Mod isn't *strictly* required for doing anything in the game itself, it provides such a dramatic and obvious performance improvement that I really feel that something similar should be integrated. I understand the argument about keeping things like Move It out of Vanilla, though. If you're clever with Move It then the game basically becomes trivially easy.
Amazing but I thought Network Extensions would be number 1!
There are a lot of roads on the workshop now that are far better than network extensions. It kind of now exists just so it doesn't destroy people's savegames
this mod never worked with me since I started playing in 2018
Cities skylines: Look at all these mods that will heavily improve the game!
Cities skylines 5 seconds later: mmm no how about donut van
thank you so much, s i was going to get a gaming pc soon and new the mods i wanted but couldn't remember the names. now i can. 2$20 is a grinder
I haven’t finished there video yet, but either find it or move it will be first
I can't wait for the Casino Strip challange. I think lots of this mods will be used there
Does plop the growables contain the vanilla assets when you initially download it or you have to download assets as well from the workshop in order for it to work? I want to keep it as much vanilla as possible in my cities but save the time to select which assets I want to specifically spawn.
It has the vanilla assets in it when you download it. You don’t have to download any custom assets for it to work
@@coomtard8218 Thank you good sir!
500'th like, this video is super helpful.
Plop Growables as seen in this video has a lot more options than the one which we have been using!
Custom/ Vanilla ? Selection boxes above and to left of main selection menu? What am I missing?
I found the answer! You need to use Find It 2. Not the old version of Find It.
Love the Troy McClure intro.
yeah those are my 10 mods and one more "procedure object" is a must have to.
I think that the forest brush is more useful than tmpe. Just seems like more of a game changer and doesn’t mess with fps as much.
Forest brush does include in Extra Landscaping Tool
I sometimes forget move it is a built-in function of the base game instead of a mod since I have used it since the day I got the game. Also I wonder why it wasn’t a built-in feature for the base game.
I have over 2000 hours played of CS and im looking to build a new custom pc that will be able to handle all mods/assets/props with ease, while still having a good frame rate. What type of hardware do you have in your pc? How do you get CS to run so smoothly even with all these mods????
How did you paint snow on mountain tops? Some kind of sand replacement texture?
Spot on! It's a custom theme that has snow instead of sand texture. There are a few on the workshop like that.
Can you guys recommend PC specification to play cities skylines full dlc in 40fps or more (with a 80k population or more) and below 550watt power?
,but with just a little stuff from workshop like:
1)move it

Thats it, i dont even want to use asset from workshop
Right now i'm really strugling to play in Asus GL503GE laptop. 550watt is my limit because my house only has 1300watt power
A mid range CPU and graphics card should be more than enough, however to run the game smoothly at 80k pop, particularly with several mods I would recommend at least 16 gigs of ram.
I dont get why some of these aren't added. I get how they want to maintain the vanilla feel, but find it, landscaping, eyecandy, and some of the other mods are lagless and make the game look and feel better. i know they won't add any features that might lag lower end computers, but still
Top ten mods-
10- Prop Line tool
9- Prop and tree anarchy
8- Extra landscaping tools
7- Fine Road anarchy 2
6- Ultimate Eyecandy
5- Relight
4- Plop The Growables
3- TM:PE
2- Node controller
1- of course Move It
Also 81 tiles but couldn’t fit that in ten 😬
Should there be cinematic camera extended imcluded in this list 🤔
ngl color presets will help me a lot as far as i am colorblinded :D
Been playing this since the 10th of March back in 2015, but damn did this age well!
thanks for the Russian subtitles
how do you have such a large shipyard and also the airport roads ?
Precision & Move it. lately though....Remove need for pipes & Remove need for Electricity. I ain't counting squares or laying utility.
i misheard "springfield" as "springwood" and i was really confused as to why his old series was his new series
Move it most important one
81 tiles 2nd place.
Metro mod 3rd place
Poppable rico
Find it
Unlimited trees
Optimized cargo
No death care
Eye candy
Intersection marker tool
first person camera
unlimited money
And rest are fill mods
What about Mods for Ps4? Do they even come?
If you want Traffic Manager download the Labs version. It's a lot better than Stable version.
Well I can miss them
The real question is why arent most of these mods integrated into the base game? Classic Paradox expecting modders to fix their half baked games while they sit back and release bland DLC's.
several of these mods feels like things that should have been put into the game ages ago. but havent for some reason...
It feels like Cities Skylines is way too dependent on mods for really basic things.
i myself, arent a very mod heavy person. in any game. not even in Gmod...
but even for me, i find that most of the things i use come from mods.
honestly the game feels alot like it was made by americans, almost every city made in the base game feels like it had to get approved by a set of 50, 80 year old american city planners...
requiring mods to make anything that doesent feel like new york or san-francisco.
which is weird because the developers are finnish and the publisher is swedish. :/
@@vulduv Yes, I really don’t know how surface painter isn’t in the base game already.
@@vincentbillings6907 Its because collossal order saw the modding on cities in motion and decided to add it like that.
but how do you plop eco houses in plop the growable?
Find It! has a drop down menu. Select 'Growables', and look for the Green Cities specific tabs.
Obviously, you'll need the Green Cities DLC.
@@trisstock9047 doesnt work, do i need a mod to find it (other then find it mod) i have green cities
@@najls3733 Ah! Yes. Find it! 2 - which is the version I recommend - also requires the Harmony 2 mod to be installed. In case you subscribed to the original Find It!, make sure you unsubscribe from that first.
Good luck!
@@trisstock9047 it worked :) thanks
Plop the Growables is now included within Ploppable RICO Revisited so you get two mods in one, with a note that 'disable automatic level-up' is not available… but why would you need that anyway for a detailed build.
so it doesn't change skin
yo nice
I’d put Procedural Objects in for Ultimate Eyecandy, otherwise I’d pick more or less the same mods
What about the Node Controller Mod and Intersection Marking Tool? I think these should be right after Move it!
Nope.. they r not essential.
With the upcoming Helluilam you're working
My top 10 is ur top 10 too x)
Please bring some of these to console versions as a part of the game itself if possible
Yes.
Feel so sorry for the console players out there. Must be gutted when you realise what an amazeing game it is with the Mods.
I do find Lifecycle Rebalanced is a really important mod for me because it solved one of my biggest problem playing C.S! Nobody likes deathwave! 😅
I was wondering how i got to 24k yet no death wave. Guess it was because of biffa's mod collection 👍👍
And my life is suddenly going to be lost! Lol I can't play Skyrim because it sucked my life too much, I think this may now take that place!
if you have ploppable rico don't use plop the growables because ploppable rico has that functionality.
I think we need Loading Screen Mod to load all of them xD
3 seconds of my life back....yes please
You really sound like grian form hermitcraft in some parts of the video
Procedural objects 😍
6:20 TOMASZ HAJTO
Surface Painter doesn’t work for me, the painted surface dissappears when loading into your map again. Anyone else with this problem?
Use ultimate area fillers instead. The problem is caused by subscribing to stuff with your game open.
@@Stegar Oh thanks
creators should include these features in the original game
>When Chirpy Exterminator does not make the list.
81 tiles, plopable rico?
S2 !!!
I predicted the #1 haha, so obvious
Me: time to find new mods!
But I already have all of them :(
Yeah same, i just reinstall the game now (after 2 or 3 years, cant remember) and i have already 80% of those mods instaled ;) Thx to moders community for updating their works :)
Asking to choose only 10 mods out of my ~ items long list would be an inhumane task… 🤷♂️
… and those are the ones I consider essential.
Personally I'd rank Traffic Manger over any of the visual mods on the list.
What about csur, imt
Csur is great, but i personly think its to complicated for what it ads. I think that network extentions is a better competitor
# more-mods-for-consoles!
Cries in console...
So I guess this video *wasn't* sponsored by Procedural Objects :(
too complicated and it isn't really a must have. I don't think most of the player base would know how to use it
@@burgerkingofficialyoutubec2798 haha I know it's really not an essential mod. I was just quoting a joke from $2.20's and Skibbith's podcast.
I don’t know if this is the city skylines company or if they’re all listening to me or reading this but can you guys can the producers of service Carolines please make a military base DLc
There are numerous army props in the workshop. This is a good starting point: steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2139446057.
Ploppable RICO, doesn't that do the same thing as Plop the Growables? I'm relatively new to Skylines and I'm trying not to go all kid in a candy store with all the fantastic mods and assets but I find I can't seem to help myself!
No poppable RICO is normally used for larger buildings like Big factories and or Shopping Malls.
Yes. The new version of plopable Rico has essentially made Plop the growables irrelevant since it ported over most of the features
@@inigovanaman1655 yeah sorry I haven't played this game in a while
I guess the visual mods (Relight and Ultimate Eyecandy) are more important for CZcamsrs than for people just building cities for themselves.
6:01 simp
All the zones avaible (81 tildes)
CSUR road mod is a bit confussing at the begining but is amazing for make real highway intersections, 100 times better than use move it!
هل في اراضي لا نهائيا
i wanna know when mods are gonna be on ps4 and why they are on xbox and pc but not ps4. please reply! i love this game and im a ps4 cities skylines player, and i want mods! please reply to this!
Xbox doesn't have mods like pc has. Its just buildings, vehicles, and a couple parks. All assets and they don't do anything to change the game play
@@mccabecompositions i know but i still want more vehicles and buildings
@@drifzyy Then get a PC
@@milton1969able does it look like im rich
@@drifzyy a good pc goes for the same price as a console
bruh who named the chapters💀
Honestly a List without the Loading Screen Mod is a fail already, m2c
$2.20 colabs with the makers of a game, to show you how the refuse to improve it, but allow everyone else to do it for them through mods, after paying for the game :) GG
Real Time is my number 1, give citizens watches and sense of time - no school at 2 am. I think that not using this mod say that as a mayor you don't care about your citizens.
I hate to be that guy but LUT is pronounced lutt, not el you tee... It's stands for look up table and it's borrowed from the film industry.
Console players ;-;
Ahem, console.
8 and 9 are useless for non-youtubers...
They could include 81tiles or unlock 25 tiles instead
Why are you saying the same as biffa? Why?
Meanwhile me Doing a perfect vanilla city without mods: *pathetic*
Again with the project...
FFS when did playing a game became a project...
