  • The spring snowmelt from the mountain ranges surrounding us has started to melt and Saturday, April 13, 2024 was the first day the water started flowing through our property! Leaves, branches, twigs and general debris and sediment has accumulated since last year and the water flow often encounters log jams as it travels, causing it to find other paths or flood a flat area. This section of the seasonal creek is supposed to flow directly through the chainlink Rooster Pen / enclosure area. However, it is flooding to the left (I dammed it with leaves and debris before making this video, it was flooding the backyard). And actually FLOWING to the right, like another branch of the creek.
NOTE IN THE VIDEO how the water flow to the RIGHT diminishes as I make progress clearing the debris.
We've been starting to work on clearing overgrown areas, removing dead branches, bushes and whatever we can do so that the water flows where it has in previous years.
I love love LOVE the sound of the flowing water. In some spots, it's rushing, other spots it's just a lovely gurgle. Mother Nature is amazing. I am so grateful to be surrounded by so much beauty and natural wonders. ❤️
