‘Magnificent’: Meloni blasts France’s ‘exploitation’ of African countries on live TV

  • Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has given a TV interview explaining how France “continues to exploit poor, African countries” which then adds to Europe’s illegal immigration crisis, Sky News host Rita Panahi says.
“She said the solution is not to take the Africans and bring them to Europe, the solution is to free Africa from certain Europeans who exploit it,” Ms Panahi said.
“The left who pretend to care about poor people and the flood of illegal, economic migrants into Europe should be making that precise same argument, instead of making people smugglers rich and painting anyone who objects to illegal immigration as racist.”

The parent company of the French mining companies is "Eramet"!
We see that their establishment is only in two African countries. Senegal and Gabon.
No gold mines in Burkina Faso.
The four gold mines in Burkina Faso are owned by the Russian company "NordGold".
If France mines gold, why does the gold stock in France not increase or decrease? Simply because France sold more than 500 tons of gold from the Bank of France during the 2008 financial crisis.
Why is Italy’s gold stock larger than France’s?
France is one of the only countries to trade with these countries. The merchant port of Senegal was built by France. If France no longer buys uranium, they would lose 40% of their commercial contribution.
According to studies, 80% of the food in these countries comes from Europe, and therefore especially from France. In Europe, population growth has followed the increase in GDP, in Africa, this is not the case.
Europe, therefore, prevents a drop in population by exporting food to these countries....

All her statements were false. Classical populist BS, which works well on people with low to no knowledge on the subject, and rely on hearsay. She is throwing "virtuous" excuses for refusing migrants. Don't get me wrong, Italy can well do so, but no need to lie nor slander others to do so.
For example, she shows the picture of a kid (this should raise a red flag right away) to make an argument that France is exploiting Burkina faso gold and use child labor for it.
Except France is not in the TOP5 of the burkina gold importers. Actually Switzerland alone buys 90% of the burkinabe gold.
Now there is a real issue of child exploitation in Burkina Faso, originating from the fact that this is a huge business for the country (20% of its GDP), so the 700 or so gold mines attract crowds of hopeful trying to escape desperate poverty, including kids. The issue is that the Burkina govt simply doesn't control those tons more or less official gold sites. Nothing to do with some evil white men fareway, and even less France which is not in this business.
Same goes for her rant about the CFA. There is a real debate among economists about the pros and cons of the CFA, and what it is not is some sort of colonial tax. That trope is your classical BS spread to africans by wannabe dictators to single out France as the common ennemy.
Speaking about singling out France, the most interresting part is Lybia. It is amusing to see Italy, and Erdogan, both accusing France of attacking Lybia, when they were also part of the coalition.
And their accusation (bringing chaos to Lybia) does not pan out as Lybia was already in a civil war.
What is real is that Italy started this whole blaming game against France after France and Italy started opposing each other on the post Ghaddafi lybian agenda.
Italy was the former colonial power in lybia, and they saw it as part of their sphere of influence. Just look at the oil trade, even now, between Italy and Lybia, and compare it with the trade between France and lybia, this should tell plenty about who's influenced by economic interrests.
On the other hand, look at the ex french colonies in Africa, France is not in the TOP3, often not in the TOP5 of the trade partners of its old colonies, with the biggest economic players being canadians, russians and chiness... so much for french exploitation and control.

The most ridiculous part is that contrary to what that "news channel" says, this is an old video dating from 2019...

They have an equitable, bilateral business deal with Lybia, whereby they PAY market price value for the gas and oil they get from it; they don’t exploit it, they don’t steal it - they PAY for it! It’s years light different. They pay for their product, for the resources they get, as civilized, modern nations do! They don’t steal the resources unlike France! So try again later colonialist!
Oh and it’s *forgot, by the way. Not *forget. You need the past simple there. See, using correct grammar matters - you know, just like displaying proper, ethical, human conduct! Animals steal, human beings barter!

Don't be afraid. You are learning about your past. And that is knowledge. Fuel your anger with that knowledge and use it for the betterment of your society. Don't let it become fuel for your fear or depression. You are more than your past.
