      @bkstandard882 BSIT is a great degree and you’ll get IT jobs with it. I just have IT Management there instead because it’s faster/cheaper degree to get and you can still get all the same jobs if you add the certs yourself.

    Woah......pardon me as a Ghost adventures nerd, but was that an insect or an orb at around 3:44?? FANTASTIC video, thank you! You mentioned nursing and I agree the FNP and others are awesome. If a person is looking for a career change or new career, Respiratory Therapy is a fantastic choice. WGU does not have a degree in this (now they are mostly BA). I have been an RT for over 40 years and the field is great, ESPECIALLY in a smaller hospital if you have experience. They pay a lot more and the work is more satisfying because you can actually be a Therapist based on care rather than volume!! Again, WGU does not have a degree in this, but it is a great consideration, too! RT's with RRT and 10+ years experience can make 140K on the traveling therapist gigs. I also got a bachelor's in Management and am working on my accounting degrees so I have an easier physical degree to do well into my 80's hopefully!

    Thank you I really appreciate your thoughts on the different degrees and what jobs could be potentially available- I was deciding between software engineering and computer science my goal is to finish the computer science degree a fast as I can and then start an accelerated bsn program so , the goal is to be in school for no more than 2.5 year and to obtain both bachelors - right now I’m torn between tech be nursing so why not both ! Then I can decide later lol

      @alexsheppe  Před 18 dny +1

      I’d always choose WGU over SNHU. As far as I’m aware, SNHU doesn’t allow course acceleration? I made the switch because I’ve always been a hobby coder, and I was doing Accounting to start my own business, but you don’t need a degree for that

    I’m trying to decide between a data analytics degree or a computer science degree. I’ve taken a couple of statistics classes, and that kind of math makes sense to me. However, I know the computer science requires calculus and is more math heavy. Any advice on whether I should go for a data analytics degree, or a computer science degree if math is not my strong suit?

    • @alexsheppe
      @alexsheppe  Před měsícem +2

      I’d aim for Computer Science. Calculus is manageable on Sophia or StraighterLine, even if you are not that good at Math. Although I’d take most of my non-math courses on Study.

    • @jh2519

      Calculus is not very difficult. I have an engineering degree, and my regular math classes were always the easiest. I took a "statistics for engineers" class and found it harder than any of my calc or differential equations classes. If you do decide to go that route and have trouble with calc (if you have a bad teacher, like me), professor Leonard on youtube is an amazing teacher and his videos follow along perfectly with the classes you'll take in college.

    is computer science worth it if your starting from scratch & what about layoffs & high competitive market?

    • @alexsheppe
      @alexsheppe  Před 3 měsíci +8

      Economies go in cycles, I wouldn’t worry about layoffs too much. Plus a lot of the layoffs were a bit exaggerated because of youtube, you have to realize a lot of these Software Engineers are trying to do youtube full time, and a lot of them voluntarily chose to be part of the layoffs to collect unemployment and do youtube.

      Anyway, in my previous comment, I missed a key word: just. What I meant to say was, "I don't go to school JUST to make money." You see, I am a lifelong learner. So, for me, the making money part is the desired output of investing in one's education.
