imagine if those CVs were still in RTS mode, it would be interesting to see nakhimov as a the hard hitting CV but with few squad, only 3/4 but has alot of reserve, Haku with her original 8 squad, MvR, Audacious would have the same as midway, FDR would just be like hakuryuu but with few reserve XD
and immelmann just only has 4 but has the time to make the plane ready to attack again
The RTS removal is what made me quit the game. It's literally a big *F you* to RTS players who love WoWs, now RTS players have no place in this game at all. I tried their action focused CV and it's a complete exact opposite of what made me play the game.

As a generally competitive player in many pvp games, and a semi-frequent wows player (and I more often than not bother to grind ranked to gold) I can 100% support this video. very fair and accurate.
I too, loved the MvR! But after the continuous nerfs - it just does not make up for the RnG reliance. The haku will give you the strongest dependable performance with slightly better performing AP bombs (less dmg than mvr, but more reliable due to drop height), and great torp damage. It also has planes that at least cause a dd to do something other than laugh at you!
Great video, absolutely - Japanese and US lines first. I really wish they find a different gimmic for german rather than RNG.
EDIT: In fact, did I play you at some point? I run my MvR in Ranked (to have fun, rather than to grind up ranks - for that I'll do a DD), as a torp-focused, interceptor build (but funny enough, without interceptors... so they can spot).

Nice review. It is sad thtat even after rework people still complains about CVs non-stop. I enjoyed them so much back when they used to have depth in gameplay with RTS mode. Now you just fly bomb, fly bomb, spot enemy, very snooze to play
People in arcade games that have someone else destroy their favorite toy tend to do that.
Bad players will always complain about getting farmed.

@@Chris-iv8sbsame with subs btw. Subs are very hard to master. In the hands of a good player they’re very hard to kill, but in the hands of a bad player (which let’s be honest is 80% of all sub players) they’re as insignificant as any torp dd. It’s just that the island campers complain about them because an island camper is the prime target of even a bad sub player. You have to jump through several hoops in order to make subs work.

Thanks for this interesting video, Reimu! I stopped playing CV alone without a division, but in my old clan there were much players like "i dunno like CVs, if you wanna play it i`m out here". So i had not much fun with my CV`s. Now i changed the clan and things changed fast! From "it`s ok when you play a CV" to "i love it when you play a CV". Because this players uses the advantages of spotting i can give and love how i can guide enemy ships to show them broadsides. It`s so funny that nearly all ships try to avoid a little torpedo, bomb or rocket damage and then get very high damage from 1 or 2 battleships or just a devstrike. Yesterday at tier 8 i had to compensate our potato DD`s and do much spotting work instead of dealing damage. Did only 11.238 damage with my Parseval, but had 59.510 spotting damage, most on enemy DD`s. And i forced the enemy sub to dive with fighter groups and waste its dive capacity. This helped us win the battle against all odds.
In the last tier 10 brawl my clanmates asked me to play CV for just spotting and doing only some attacks, so i decided to grab FDR for its tough planes and do my job. Worked very nice.
Just got Immelman , after 100 battles a wierd message pops up to my screen ''Aircraft Carrier Commander, Elite Forces''. It's that easy to play. The only bad side is that sometimes u re put up against 2-3 Hallands which delete u re planes before you even see the destroyer.
1 Halland is already enough for that
From my limited experience, the Russian Cv does more damage with what people think it is than in reality. It's the easiest Cv to mitigate incoming damage. It's powerful only against people who sail straight, the torps arming distance is so far and the speed kind of slow even the slowest bb easily doge most of them, whit the skip bomber if the target just turns fully in you will land at best 2 bombs reducing a lot your damage, and the rocket work only on AFK or brain dead player. I would happily be focused by 2 Admiral Nakhimov than one Hakuryu. But they are kind of relaxing to play.
And For the RN Cv that really sad I loved the idea behind them, it was the first Cv I really try to play. But it's really a struggle with them, I know some manage to do good with them but good players will be good with everything, I'm not there yet.
Well yeah, most Russian ships are only really super effective vs brain dead players. If you sail in a straight line and do nothing then Stalingrad, Slava, Nakhimov, and the others will completely wreck you. This is exactly why they're seen as so OP, because half of the playerbase of this game cant think and breathe at the same time.

Your comment about the FDR player, I have a screenshot of my Napoli having shot down I think 2 dozen FDR planes and my clan could hardly believe it cause ITA AA sucks. It is indeed because the FDR player sucked and flew through my catapult fighter, Harugumo AA, and Des Moines AA and who knows what other AA I was deliberately luring it into. By the end of the game I was rushing down the carrier :)

The things that are probably why they are the most hated is 1.) Spotting capability basically killing any ship relying on concealment, mostly DDs, and 2.) When the CV gets good dispersion on a target and chunks for 10-20k, and the player "feels cheated" (strangely they never complain about 10-20k chunks from my Vermont)
I will say spotting needs a nerf along the lines of radar and only doing map updates and not global spotting.
Otherwise there is not much you can do to nerf CVs in their current format without making them useless. They have a very odd balancing that is make-or-break.

What is the best Supercarrier in your opinion?
My only problem with hakuryu is the rate at which u can run out of planes. She's strong and has speed but unless u look after her planes u kinda struggle towards the end of the match. Personally I find more reliable games in the audacious, may not be meta but she's tuff and can dominate if played right, also more fun. Of course I'm not the best in carriers so that could be a factor lol

Malta is S tier, it’s very strong. But still you need to be careful about you map position cause you have high citadel. Especially when there is MVR he can bully you with AP rockets.
as a surface ship player (read: I pathologically hate playing carriers because they’re such a slog to play), this is a pretty decent insight into how carrier players perceive carriers. I’m not going to actually play them anytime soon, but know thy enemy and all that.
I try to make content with as little bias as possible. Don't want to defend them (they're op as hell), nor do I want to overkill them (some actually suffer compared to other of the same tier). I also dropped the class and haven't played as much of it lately (Malta released so needed content for that) but yeah class is kind of boring to me now

This is a carrier UI question. In some of your highlight videos I see that your CV is occasionally detected and on the left side of your HUD would display an alarm for it. How did you do that, I thought all detection alarms are placed on the right side. Sometimes I have no clue if my CV is actually detected or not since it overlaps with my plane detection alerts.
it's from a mod on Aslains modpack installed (I think it's also on WG moderation too). It moves all alerts over so it doesn't overlap with the other indicators. Very helpful.

More survivability is always a plus for the carrier but not invulnerable as it's still prone to enemy CV strikes.

I hope so. I'd love to see Shinano with Ohka tactical squadrons.
Kamikaze plane were only flown by land base pilot not carrier base as it took more time to train for carrier deck and it took space on the hangar, not only that but the plane itself is a giant bomb and would be more of a hazard then a bomb itself

Way too competitive to make a tier list for tier 8. Everything is good except a few CVs in the tier but even that depends on the server you play on (due to playerbase playstyle)

Audacious is one of my fav CV's, I mostly just spec out the rockets and harass the shit out of destroyers. Amen to the CV haters that only bitch and whine, they know nothing about CV's

Still sad to see that CVs are nowdays farming machine and lack some sort of utility like smoke bombs or depths charges and still can't protect other ships including itself against air attack from other CVs, fighter planes are more a spotting tool than actual aircraft counter as it was back in those days of RTS CVs
Oh well they might be adding line splits with more team support oriented CVs, with maybe actual fighter planes who can deny air attack for once xD

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks FDR is just meh in randoms. I don’t care for competitive so I can’t attest to it’s performance in that scene but for randoms, I find myself almost always preferring to play midway; the dmg potential is just better imo. Like don’t get me wrong, slapping 20k off a broadside island-humper is always funny but that 25 sec timer just kills it for me.
Plus lets not get into the fact that playing FDR just invites unwarranted hate from the whole lobby. FDR is in the game so everyone just wants you dead, not because of anything you can actually do to them, but just because it’s got the reputation of being completely busted. I’ve never run into a situation where everyone on the enemy team will open up on a cv 15km behind the frontline on anything BUT my FDR. Midway? Hak? No issues, but playing FDR is just way more toxic than the gameplay itself justifies.
Is it just me, or does every Yamato have a persona vendetta against my Immelmann? Very often I see Yamato players trying to fling shells at my Immelmann during the early game.
Isn't it obvious people who don't play CV's but play every other ship type hate CV's. There is a reason people call them the FUN POLICE.
They see you as a high risk threat and a target of opportunity because your going to play with their hit points and and fun without endangering your own plus your probably auto piloting the ship to go somewhere so your driving in a straight line which to a any self respecting battleship screams send me back to port.
So, looking at your list. The Hakuryu is the better CV to spend time and resources to master (another month of grinding I should have her)? I've been grinding steel to get the FDR, but I also play DDs (clan battles, no CVs allowed). The decision to look at the Ragnar over the FDR for my first steel ship is what is on my mind right now.
Would rather spend time becoming the best CV player in my clan(s). We have one, but he's only OK and doesn't perform as well as I've seen you and other really good CV players. I'm on a scab (sub) clan for a clan that seriously plays Clan Battles and KOTS. Do you do Tips and training vids for this new meta?
FDR and Ragnar are the only 2 steel ships I've bought for the same reasons. I'd say if your going to play a lot of CB as a DD player you should def get Ragnar first so you can help your team win more matches and get more steel. Otherwise rag is still very good in randoms and ranked but somewhat difficult to play without div mates. And frankly people will assume if you have FDR that it's an automatic win so as soon as you start losing your the first one to be blamed and it sucks.
and malta or inmmelman recomend to cvs coal ships tier x better , try and buck up to realize and other tier list of tier 8,line and lines ships,with aquila too, toher tier 6 or more ,very short,no aconsejable. for mmi opini[on chaclov and kaga are excelent cvs premiun tier 8...

Comparing to other classes there is no such thing as c tier carrier.... even the worst carrier is A tier at worst looking at the carriers objectively. They just bring so much to the match from spotting, instant crossfire creation to presence on a map and game influence

@@ReiYukihyo why not return it back to a more realistic style by removing their unlimited planes and making them have to work like a real carrier, have them manually fly their planes back to land and slowly deplete over the course of the battle until they run out? Like real aircraft carriers?
@@ironboy3245 sure wisekid never played a CV. Even playing my midway, my planes run out after 10-15 mins of the game. Smtimes ur full squadrons die before they can even attack

@seasnutz thanks for the carrier video. You don't find many cv friendly videos on CZcams or you hear that how people hate em , but I think they're super fun along with everything else, I like the plane types and there tricks but unfortunately some people hate em so whatever I like em .
@@flfar3445 Some people lol you do know its horrendously frustrating to get hounded by a player in a CV that you cannot see because most of the time CV players sit at the map boarder or behind a rock so you cannot see them or shoot at them yet they can hit you from the other side of the map if they want to, do you think this is a fair fight?

@@toxicelamain2494 well, yeah but that's a super so technically not the same tier.... I have all the UK line and never reset it (I reset all the others). Malta makes up for a lot of RN line downsides. Pity about the Ark Royal but at least it is fun.
I hate CVs as much as it gets, but unfortunately I am forced to play Midway (which i bought with Free XP) in order to get Halsey. Am I doing something wrong cause even though i maneuver a lot, my planes are getting decimated and i can't do any serious damage. What am I doing so wrong?
If you're able to dodge flak, then you're on the right track. You have to also take the ships you are striking + ships that are nearby with AA into consideration. Some ships have stronger long range AA meanwhile some have stronger mid/short range AA. Best tip I can give is to enter and exit the attack as fast as possible to minimize the amount of time spent in AA.
Btw, you can repeat the missions for completion progress on those special tasks. Don't have to play each one for a completion score.

Lol I played USN CV, IJN CV, and some of the GermaN CV lines and I tried the rn cb line after, the hermes had disappointing penetration to say the least. I'll keep working on it

Midway has always been the weakest in terms of stats. But that was just on paper. Now, in practice, she's really sad to play nowadays
Weser completely killed my interest in that line. Wet-cardboard planes with the least reliable DPM on a CV, no thanks. The TBs are fine, I guess, but you can't use them exclusively. The rocket planes also do this infuriating thing where the reticle goes way out if you start your attack run over land. I will say it's good for farming cits in co-op.
Just free exp it, Parseval is so much better.
Hakuryu - Opportunist gameplay. Search for that lone target and blow it out of the water with repeated torpedo attacks. Your planes are fragile so pick your fights because they wont last for a second strike if take them across overlapping AA bubbles. If there are no lone targets on the map, make sure to pre-drop several times and just go for a single attack. Enemy stupidity is your greatest advantage.
Audacious - Brawler gameplay. Pre-drop to save on planes and go for those 1 strike runs. Your primary targets should be ships that are already under attack, so that you can set them on fire and force them to use DC or set them on fire and wither them down if they already used DC. Because of the massive HP pool of your planes, you can go into overlapping AA bubbles and make the strike... and even recover your planes if u are smart about avoiding puffs. The firing arcs of all your planes help with that.
Nachimov - Farmer gameplay. Understand that you are useless against DDs. Rocket planes have 6.5s lead time and torps have too long arming time. However, you are a battleship or cruiser's worst nightmare. Keep part of your booster ready for your attack run, because your planes will die during their attack run if u dont help them with the extra speed in that critical moment.
Midway - Generalist gameplay. You can take a bite out of anything that floats and if you fly them right, your planes might actually return to you after their strike.
Richthofen - Used to be good when players didnt know how to counter them. Now everybody and their dog will turn against your incoming squadron and because of the standard 10km spotting range against planes, you will never surprise any ship anymore. Worst carrier atm, by far. Do yourself a favor and just gather coal for the Immelmann. Its better in every way.
Immelmann - See Richthofen.
FDR - Salt farmer gameplay. Pick this if you want to read instant complaints from the enemy team in chat... while actually being just as mediocre as the Midway. Looks terrifying on paper, but only a good player will know how to use it..and that's a general rule for every ship in this game so that means its nothing special, when all is said and done.
Naki is absolute DD murderer like the rest, it just forces crossfire a bit more than actually does the killing.
@@clankplusm No CV is a direct DD murderer anymore. They are good for spotting but with the exception of Midway, most CVs cant fight a DD if the DD knows what he is doing.

unskilled CV vs Skilled DD -> cv has no chance of hitting him
skilled CV vs unskilled DD -> cv needs to get lucky drops/spreads
unskilled cv vs unskilled dd -> CV will never find DD and when he does it will drop him poorly

You may have had an argument that I would have entertained, but the moment you said a skilled CV needs luck to shit on an unskilled DD yet unskilled CV apparently instantly dies to a skilled DD? That's just Bias. It takes extremely poor positioning of a CV to be threatened by a DD (And even then, to engage the CV requires also entering into bad positions in terms of match influence usually) and a CV also spots for their allies to smash said DD. In skill vs skill it comes down to both's allies. The skilled CV essentially would control the Skilled DD's play by either forcing them to retreat or make turns the rest of their team can capitalize on. The skilled DD can at best push to spot the CV and either be something like a Kleber or Paolo, otherwise fire support from allies is the only way theyll kill said CV what with armoured flight deck and CV already turned tail and running.
@@clankplusm You clearly did not read what I wrote. I used the words "direct DD murderer". Notice the "direct" part. This means the CV doing >damage< to the DD, by itself. I even mentioned that spotting is still the best tool, and your reply is stating the same thing, except you go into details.
Ofc spotting is an invaluable tool that the CV has over DDs, but its also the only tool it has nowadays. Relying on your team mates to shoot a target is never fun.
To elaborate on what i meant by the skilled/unskilled part ... I've been in matches where i had to hunt DDs by myself while in a CV and if the DD is skilled, you can do nothing except pray to RNGezus. Due to the 10km spotting range of planes, the DD will always meet you head on, so you'll have the smallest possible target to hit. Attack planes are now useless against them and more cruiser killers... since you need to lead by 4-7 seconds, depending on the nation - and even then, the rocket spread might miss completely. But ofc, to make the shot you need to spot it, which detection-by-air mechanics makes it so that your planes are always overshootting by the time its spotted. Before you say that you can use fighters to keep it spot it while you turn the squadron to make an attack run, keep in mind that all new DDs come with AA that will make short work of fighters, due to fighter low HP.
I main both CVs and DDs. Those are my favorite ships... and I never get worried if a CV is spotting me while i cant be shot by his team mates. On the other side of the coin, if I need to kill a DD by myself while in a CV, its the worst type of gameplay. Im obviously not including the DDs that dont know how to press their WASD. I'll be the first to admit that not all DDs are skilled... but then again, not all CVs are skilled either, so it balances itself out.
I will admit that the "Murder" aspect only refers to handsless DDs who let themselves be line dropped by skip bombs. However most if not all CVs can hit a DD for some amount of damage regardless of their (DD) ability, and the only way a DD can nullify this is to back off from a cap entirely into friendly AA, which costs a lot of valuable match influence. I play both CV and DD as well having multiple Tier 10 carriers and many (Well, save the fact of a lot of resetting) Tier 10 DDs with a high winrate in DD and relatively good in CV. Scoring damage on DDs can be a bit of a slog, that does not mean that the CV isn't destroying the ability of the DD to exert any match influence, both by keeping it out of key positions and spotting it to be damaged / cross dropping it to force more damage / dealing damage to it, that damage removing it's ability to trade with the enemy DD (If you take enough HP off of a gunboat DD, many "inferior" gunboats and torp boats can suddenly press that one with a positive trade and can press all the other advantages they got from not having that initial gun adv. The opposite can also be true if a conceal DD worked hard and risky to get allies to slough off some of the gunboat DD's hp to do that, but oops, enemy CV showed up and crossed me, now I have to pick between losing my HP trade, angling away and losing gunpower and losing the HP trade, getting torped... Etc, etc, etc...)
As for the whole "AA will kill your fighters" -there are captain perks that offset this. And only a very small handful of new DDs actually have the adequate AA. Partial Blind dropping in from the tail of the fighter squadron's hp is all you need.
And soon some time in the future we will have SUPER CARRIERS with "tactical squadrons" of JETS, and the HORNET with her "tactical squadrons" of B25s. Having played the 6ths id say this is a fair list, and YES the USN is the most "general purpose" line of the bunch. I seriously wish FIGHTERS where better (take Enhanced Reactions at the very least if you want your fighters to murder enemy planes) and AA was better as well as made any logical sense (number of FLAK vs number of DP guns). Carriers just ARNT FUN anymore, its just a BORING farm fest.
With skill those HE bombs have over 55% chance to start a fire (and you get 6 of them), on top of almost 10k damage max damage (9200 if i recall, which due to how pens work 33% of that is the actual damage they do, 3050 i think if i remember how math works), the torpedos arnt grate but not bad, and you have the choice between HVARS (more rockets, which mathematically actually do more damage if they ALL hit) or TINY TIMS (more pen and damage, good for dealing with Cruisers or Battleships) depending on preference.

Like, all he does is complain, complain the same shit all over again how CVs are OP, subs are OP, radars are OP and yet he still play the game. Would strongly disagree with that hakuryu biased list =/ especially for returning/new players, they will get very surprised too see that even attacking single target might cost you your whole squadron, thx to new ships that have stalingrad level of aa.
you misunderstand the purpose of the video. it's not a video on which line to grind for a new player. it's a video for players of all skill levels on what lines to grind depending on their interest. I even give recommendations on which lines are more beginner friendly.

Ranger is def the weakest of the line for sure. Meanwhile Lexington is one of the better ones of the tier, so yes.

Until I dogged into how ranger was bad at first I thought the general nerfs made Carriers unplayable or that I had just gotten bad despite landing mod hits and learning more about the game.
I’m so happy, so glad, I’m not going insane, that indeed the ship did get worse for the tier going down the line. And the stats are a lie.
