What a fantastic way to spend some time whilst keeping fit. These videos are opening my eyes to some places I never knew about in the U.K. 👍 very nicely done
You just keep on saying, ‘stunnin’ because it’s you-and that’s why we watch. Scenery and your personality. Thanks for a great view I will never see in person.
Hi Andy, Stunning simply stunning. Cadair Idris what a beauty and cracking weather with some lovely low cloud. Bet you had a fantastic time. I'm looking forward to my first welsh mountain in the not too distant future. Atb Andy H
Another gem of a vlog. Keep those stunning views coming. I have just come back from waking and camping in the peaks and kept looking at spots you have used. The sign at Alport castles saying No camping, dint seminars very friendly, hey how.
Lovely video, Andy, and impressive performance from the Cricket in those conditions. I had mine out in the Pentland Hills recently in similar winds and although it was noisy the shelter stood firm. Next time I took the Trailstar to the same spot, thinking it would be quieter, and there was virtually no wind (but lots of rain), lol. Both fantastic shelters!!
Brilliant adventure, Andy. Thanks for taking us along. Fabulous ridge walk and those clouds rolling over those edges were something else. Fabulous to see these events when we have high pressure. Cheers 😎👍🏻
Thank you Andy for rekindling so many good memories of all the times I've hiked and camped around there. One more ascent to come hopefully on my Cambrian way trip. As always Andy a wonderful account of your trip. Thanks. 🌞

Thanks Andrew, what a magnificent one... I have a soft spot for the area as I did some of my Gold DofE there when i was a 14 Yr old lad. I'm 66 now and likely only to see these places again vicariously through these films. So thank you again for making such enjoyable and interesting content. 👍
Nice video, a good change for you, I have not been up there for 30 years !!! You will have to do the Snowdon horseshoe next !!! When I go up to Scotland I sit wide eyed as not used to the beauty, Glad you enjoyed it ,Adrian. Keep em coming
Nice 1andy. Wales is fast becoming my favourite place to camp lot quieter than the peaks or lakes, so many places to explore and feel truly wild and remote. Thanks for sharing ATB 🙎🏻♀️&🐕
Aww! This video was a cracker the scenery was just stunning. I always say you put in the effort and your rewarded with the spectacular views it’s a ever lasting memory. 5 stars for this one 👍
Great job Andy, really enjoyed that. Listening to your accent always reminds me of my childhood; I lived in a place called South Kirkby during my school years. Keep up the good work, you’re a talented film maker.
Absolutely belting video and place Andy.! Me niece lives about 60 minutes away from that area in Wrexham and has asked me to do some building work on her house... Well...two bods one stone im reckoning..in fact 15 minutes away and your up there. I love it when a plan comes together , with a gentle push from Mr Beavers.😎 Thanks for a cracking bit a filming Andy...bloody marvellous. 👍👍
So chuffed you’ve shared this one Andy👍🏻 it’s right on my radar so just perfect as reference Thankyou 👌🏻… I can’t tell you how your vlogs have helped me mate, I’ve just got back from a 2 nighter around the Mosedale Horseshoe and just to highlight what I mean…used your latest trip as a guide and took your advice and pulled in Caw Fell & Haycock instead of passing them by👍🏻…broke myself a bit with Gable Sunday morning & with the decent back down but WOW!!.. 100% worth it!.. thanks a million… looks like I’ll be breaking myself in Wales now!🙄😂🏕⛰.. Stunning 😉
thats great to hear & yeah the mosedale horseshoe is a great route & including haycock & caw fell is a must although its a slog out there then back lol..wales is stunning ill certainly be back now ive had a taste for sure..enjoy your'e adventures & stay safe tfw.
Glad you enjoyed my home land, amazing views great vlog Andy, looking forward to seeing more footage from 🏴. Perhaps an Andy and Paul adventure 😉👍👏
Andrew, it’s a long time since we viewed one of your videos. It will not be so long next time. Thanks for this beautiful and high quality record of a walk that brought back personal memories. I walked up to Cader Idris over 50 years ago, but on an easier route than yours. Ours was an early climb then a ridge walk from west to east and back. We used to stay across the Mawdach Estuary and gaze across to Cader, dreaming about the climb, before one day we did it. Hoping to see a video record of your climb from Cwm Buchan. Thanks for all you do, and all you share!
Nice one Andy, now get back up Scotland, the Rough Bounds of Knoydart is made for you my friend, plan for four days to get all the munros covered, experience of a lifetime, take care, Bill
Excellent film Andy, just tremendous. Clear skies are great but you can't beat a bit of cloud for atmosphere. Stunning 😁haha. It is absolutely to be fair. Cricket took that well too. TFS David 👍
thanks david yeah beautiful area..cloudless skys are great but a bit of cloud does add to the experience..the cricket is excellent mate get that purchase button clicked 😉 tfw.
Awesome video buddy. Thanks for showing off Wales 🏴 in an amazing way 👍. Just an FYI, a quick ‘translation’ for you; Llyn Cau is pronounced Llyn Kai…I know, us Welshies have a strange language 😁
it was wicked to see you in snowdonia especially cadair idris, i did my first solo wild camp around llyn cou last april didnt do the summit being my first wild camp, you can imagine the pack size making sure i had what i needed, 4 stoves, 3 tents and 22 sleeping bags lol, its a stunning place, but those stairs up the minnford path are brutal, great vid, take a look at tryfan or pen e olwen next time your in snowdonia, the ogwen valley will blow your mind and its bang in the heart of snowdonia national park. excellent watch
Croeso I gymru Mr Beaver’s. Have watched a few of your vlogs due to Mr Messner. Found you a likeable down to Earth guy. The quality and content in this vlog is as you say Stunning. I’m now subscribed. Magnificent filmmaking. Diolch. Please do more Wales. See it isn’t always wet and cold here. We will be having the same heatwave as the rest of the UK. Thankyou Andy 👍🤩🤩
thank you gail & thanks for the sub much appreciated..kind words too i just try to be myself on these video's & give the viewers as much of same experience that im having..ill definately be visiting wales again already have a couple of trips in mind so watch this space & we'll get paul over too tfw.
Just love Cadair Idris, so glad you found it on such a superb day for your first visit. Stunning was the right word for it! Lovely video yet again. It's said that if you spend a night on the mountain you will either wake up as a poet or a mad man. Saying nowt - but I don't recall you doing any poetry. 😂😂 (Welsh pronunciation is not easy is it - in Minffordd the "dd" is pronounced "th" as in "this" so it sounds like "minforth")
well im certainly no poet lol so must be a mad man lol..yeah the welsh pronunciation is tricky ill struggle with that in future..yorkshire bloke trying to pronounce welsh doesnt go really does it lol..good to know thats how its pronounced thanks for that & tfw.
Stunning as always mate footage makes you feel like your there 👍🏻 and those time lapses 👌🏻 Wales is stunning a place I want to go for definite, the landscape is beautiful… that path up you didn’t take looked ridiculous from the other side 😂 like you say once you got to top didn’t look too bad. Crazy how the terrain can look from different angles/views. The view from the summit was crazy full 360 view was incredible. Hope to get out with you soon pal get in touch with those dates 👌🏻… hope your keeping well 👍🏻 ATB Dan
cheers dan yeah beautiful area up there deffo gonna do more in wales..always looks worse from the other side of the hills but not as bad when you actually get over to it..ill get those dates to you mate & we'll get something sorted take care pal.
thanks ste yeah had it been pitched opposite way that wouldn't have been great those winds would have tried lifting it which would have been interesting lol..just goes to show always check forecasts tfw.
Fantastic route and a fantastic mountain. I've camped Mynydd moel as cadair Idris was busy when I went up. That route down is a belter for the knees 😂 Really enjoyed that video Andy, the cricket was excellent in the wind aswell. Stay safe and well, Adge.
Hello Andrew. That final time lapse is amazing. Total Casper Friedrich. Fantastic. Cracking video. I never ever never ever ever, trust the weather forecasters. I know I’ve had a rant about them before, but I wouldn’t pay them in washers! Looking forward to the next one. Take care. Robert
Absolutely stunning video there Andrew, seriously that was one of best i’ve seen in a long while. My lad lives in Anglesey and we trying to plan a camp together in snowdonia… think we just found it👌. Cheers and alb
Great to see you spreading your wings Andy. Getting to Wales is a bit of a ball ache from Barnsley (I live near you) anyways its really rewarding. Tick off the Welsh 3000s and then the Nuttalls - that's what I am doing (very slowly)
thanks paul you maybe one of only a few that'll understand me then lol 😂 ill be definately heading to wales a lot more this year & hopefully get some winter trips in tfw.
Lovely hike Andy, and so lucky to have cloud inversion as well. It’s actually my favourite mountain. It’s a nice spot to camp at the Cwm. Beautiful site in the morning when you wake up especially if it’s still with a stunning reflection. They also say that if you stay on the mountain over night, you’ll either wake up a poet or a mad man! I’ll let you decide if I turned into anything if I bump into you on the hill one day🤣. You’ve inspired me to go up it again now. Will go at the end of August as a birthday treat to myself 😁. Atb. Ian.
Hi Andy! So glad I finally got round to watching this one... absolutely awesome!! I love Cadair Idris and always like watching videos of very familiar places so this was extra exciting for me! I've been up there a few different ways and last time came down that steep scree 'path' onwards from the lake you were talking about, its not to bad at the start but gets worse and a few bits you have to lower yourself down with your hands. Loads of fun though, but very loose under foot lol. Infact it's in my last Cadair Idris video, well what bits I could film 😂 Great pitch pal and absolutely amazing with those rolling clouds!! 😍😍 Epic time-lapses mate 👌🏻 That wind was a bit different to the forecast, but was a great test for the tent and the storm shelter wasn't far at least should the worst of happened. What a stunning morning too... I agree you don't need expensive gear to go 'camping' for sure, but summit camping can be a little more testing at least like you said, so I think for that you should get the best you can afford to cope with the potential elements, that combined with your experience level as I bet a lot of people wouldn't know how to bail out on a mountain in the dark safely and get themselves in more of an issue. People who don't have an anemometer do over exagerate wind speeds a lot on here lol. Maaate absolutely loved it, THANKS!! Take it easy pal... ATB Chris 😊✌🏼🤜🏻💚🤛🏻
thanks chris yeah great trip this mate loved the place & ill be back up there for sure..does help having the correct kit in situations like that, wouldn't want to have been up there in my first ever tent it would have been destroyed lol tfw mate.
Fantastic Andrew, great to see you out in familiar territory. Fantastic conditions you had there…. Although, you’ve not experienced wales until you’ve experienced Welsh rain.. trust me , it’s on a different level. 😊ATB Daron.
haha ayy daron i bet it is..i can see why you spend a lot of time up there..got lots of plans a foot for wales & looking forward to getting back there tfw.
Superb mate. Certainly looked a slog up but worth it for those views. Can’t beat it when the clouds are rolling over the peaks like that. Looked awesome. Cricket doing the business too. Bet Scot is made up you recommended it to him 😉 great vid as always Andy. 👏🏻👏🏻
thanks craig..real slog up mate but its one of those when ure at the top its all forgotten & the views take centre stage..ayy cricket is great pal tfw.
Some stunning scenery it's a place I've never been I've done a lot in the Brecon beacons years ago but keep saying I'm going to have to go to Snowdonia but the crowds and finding the time and the weather never match up but that looked cracking route
There are many uncrowded and underrated peaks in Snowdonia. Get yourself over here. You won’t be disappointed. The weather is what it is. Much the same as the rest of the uk. Altitude alone has its own weather system to be respected. 👍😊
Time lapse was amazing. Impressed by the cricket in that wind. Will be interested to hear how you’re finding the atom pack vs the Exos. Didn’t catch if you got a framed one. Gordon
Hello Andrew, trio of happy coincidences here. One of my favourite CZcamsrs camping in one of my favourite locations and thirdly I'm waiting on the arrival of a Cricket Tarp from MLD. Stunning may be an overused word but it must have been difficult to think of anything else to say on this occasion. A stunning video indeed. Up there with your very best. Take care
thanks frederick yeah i do use the word a lot but as i say in this vid how else do you describe it lol..ull be impressed with the cricket its such a good shelter..it gave me such confidence in it taking those winds overnight & it looks so dam good pitched on a mountain top 😉 tfw.
@@AndrewBeavers Yea I can't wait to use the Cricket. I've been experimenting a lot with tarps recently after watching Papa Hiker on his channel. I've got the Hilleberg Tarp 5 and sometimes use that for one night stop overs if the weather is settled. However, now I'm nearer to 70 than 60 yrs of age, I'm looking forward to having the extra headroom the Cricket provides. My Alpkit poles extend to 150cm so by setting them at an angle I should be able to give myself a lot of usable inner space. Once again Andrew, thanks for this superb video.
I do wish I could edit vids as fast as you mate🤔😉. A fine looking mountain that Andy, with some tremendous conditions. Down the years I've done most of the Snowdonia ones but never Cadair Idris and it looks an absolute corker. Surprisingly it looked pretty quiet too, I had it in my head that it would be busy. Great vid pal, ATB, Chris
thanks chris yeah its a stunning area mate you'd enjoy this one..the route up through the forest & around the lower end was full of butterfly's i must have seen at least several different species..i would imagine wknds it'll be busy but midweek i saw no one til i came down..tfw.
Coming from Tasmania Australia I can't believe the lack of trees surely those mountains would have been covered in trees .? Have they been replanting any where . Great views still 👏 👌
im sure at one point in time the area like a lot will have been covered in tree's but not sure why there isn't currently..there are re-planting programme's going on in some area's which is encouraging tfw.
Stunning indeed Andy! That was one very special camp that will no doubt live long in the memory. I know you mentioned it was your first wild camp in Wales but have you done much day hiking there?
@@AndrewBeavers first time I went up there a few years ago I went up that middle steep route (big mistake) 🥵 then circled back down the route you went up to camp at the lake. Felt real nice to get in there after that sweaty climb!
@@AndrewBeavers yeah, I stupidly listenef to a bloke that said I could shave around 1hr off my route by going that way. It added half hour as I had to keep stopping! 🤣
Looks good pitch great looking shelter Yup an open shelter does make you think about pitching angles Nice time-lapse What frequency do you set camera to take photos for time-lapse? My gopro set fir half a second but surely that's too often 😕 many every five seconds or is that not enough 🤔 lol
Stunning, absolutely stunning. You’re right mate. No other word for it. Beautiful footage as always Andy. Made me feel like I was there. Catch you soon pal
cheers mate your'e right how else do you describe it lol..we'll get you up there for one sooner than later tfw.
Great time lapse filming, you must have been chuffed with that. Worth that sweltering trek up the peak.
What a fantastic way to spend some time whilst keeping fit. These videos are opening my eyes to some places I never knew about in the U.K. 👍 very nicely done

Atb. Ian.
thanks ian yeah great trip i really enjoyed this one..all ill say is im no poet lol tfw.
Infact it's in my last Cadair Idris video, well what bits I could film 😂
Great pitch pal and absolutely amazing with those rolling clouds!! 😍😍 Epic time-lapses mate 👌🏻
That wind was a bit different to the forecast, but was a great test for the tent and the storm shelter wasn't far at least should the worst of happened.
ATB
Chris 😊✌🏼🤜🏻💚🤛🏻
thanks chris yeah great trip this mate loved the place & ill be back up there for sure..does help having the correct kit in situations like that, wouldn't want to have been up there in my first ever tent it would have been destroyed lol tfw mate.
Great video ya big lump!
thanks & tfw 😊
Fantastic Andrew, great to see you out in familiar territory. Fantastic conditions you had there…. Although, you’ve not experienced wales until you’ve experienced Welsh rain.. trust me , it’s on a different level. 😊ATB
Daron.
haha ayy daron i bet it is..i can see why you spend a lot of time up there..got lots of plans a foot for wales & looking forward to getting back there tfw.
I’ve only done two camps in Wales. I was struck by really how ‘wild’ wild camping in the Carneddau mountains is. Spectacular place.
thanks & tfw 😊
Some stunning scenery it's a place I've never been I've done a lot in the Brecon beacons years ago but keep saying I'm going to have to go to Snowdonia but the crowds and finding the time and the weather never match up but that looked cracking route
There are many uncrowded and underrated peaks in Snowdonia. Get yourself over here. You won’t be disappointed. The weather is what it is. Much the same as the rest of the uk. Altitude alone has its own weather system to be respected. 👍😊
thanks & tfw 😊
Time lapse was amazing. Impressed by the cricket in that wind. Will be interested to hear how you’re finding the atom pack vs the Exos. Didn’t catch if you got a framed one. Gordon
loving the atompack it does have a stiffner bar down the centre which can be adjusted..tfw.
That Cricket is stronger than it looks.
sure is its a great shelter tfw.
Got to ask the Question WHO. Created The. Stunning. ♥️
no idea but the only way to describe such scene tfw.
Absolutely stunning pal 😉🤣
kin ell 🤦♂😂
@@AndrewBeavers 🤣😆😂
Hi Andy.
Would like to know what inner your using in the MLD cricket.
Much appreciated
Vince
Stunning indeed Andy! That was one very special camp that will no doubt live long in the memory. I know you mentioned it was your first wild camp in Wales but have you done much day hiking there?
done lots of day hikes over there anthony over the years but my first wildcamp..tfw.
It's absolutely gorgeous up there! Did you not fancy a dip in Llyn Cau?!?
i sure did fancy a dip it looked so inviting lol but i was eager to get up that ridge to the top tfw.
@@AndrewBeavers first time I went up there a few years ago I went up that middle steep route (big mistake) 🥵 then circled back down the route you went up to camp at the lake. Felt real nice to get in there after that sweaty climb!
@@GrizzlyGaz i bet it did that route looks a killer lol glad i didnt do it in that heat..
@@AndrewBeavers yeah, I stupidly listenef to a bloke that said I could shave around 1hr off my route by going that way. It added half hour as I had to keep stopping! 🤣
Looks good pitch great looking shelter
Yup an open shelter does make you think about pitching angles
Nice time-lapse
What frequency do you set camera to take photos for time-lapse? My gopro set fir half a second but surely that's too often 😕 many every five seconds or is that not enough 🤔 lol
A safe place to park the vehicle....... Please share the details
