- A playthrough of Gametek's 1992 Sega Genesis game show adaptation, Jeopardy!
This is a really good adaptation of the game - quite a bit better, in fact that the SNES version. The difference between them is a notable one for anyone who's a Gametek fan - this version was done by a totally different development studio than the one on the SNES (done by Imagineering). So, the Genesis and the SNES represent two different interpretations of the game show on competing systems. They look similar, but even with the scratchy voices and super pixelated portraits, the Genesis one feels closer to the show. That, and its answer recognition is nowhere near as rigid and unforgiving as the SNES versions. They're both good, but I definitely prefer this one.

My aunt and uncle had this for their Genesis. I'd play it with them every so often in the late 90s and thought I did a pretty good job in spite of my age. My uncle always picked the player character that you did: he was a dead ringer for my uncle, circa 1989. Good times!
Graphics mimics the grid set in the Genesis version perfectly, unlike the SNES or SEGA CD versions.

I don't recall another Gametek game differing so much between like platforms as this differs from the SNES version, which makes sense since they were developed by different companies. It's not often I prefer the Sega over the Nintendo on 16-bit ports, but this one definitely trumps its SNES counterpart!

If it was close it would usually accept it. The SNES version was a spelling nazi though :0
The Genesis game used an answer recognition system where if you punch in the answer in any order even with extra letters, the game will accept it. For example, if the correct response is "fire" and you enter something like "foot in my rocky driveway", the game interprets it as "f___ i_ __ r____ ____e___" and gives you credit. The Family Feud Genesis game has this as well since it was also made by GameTek.
