One of the greatest segments in topgear.....a wonderfull story about what Lancia is all about
I re-watch it every so often. My favorite segment in Grand Tour by quite a bit. A shame about the current state of Lancia, and makes me want a yellow 5 cyl Audi every time, which of course I can't afford haha.
Walter Röhrl is my hero. He won Monte Carlo on four different cars. Even his decision to just do 6 races is the move of a real bad ass.
well, after the success of films like: Ford vs Ferrari, Rush etc... this simply screams out for a movie-adaptation!

Amusing anecdote: When a man sees this, he almost forgets that Hannu Mikkola won the Rally Championship that year with Audi. While Clarkson and Röhrl explain how a car fits "like a shoe," the picture reveals that the winner of the San Remo rally was Alen with his Lancia. Röhrl finished more than 2 minutes behind him. Nevertheless, Lancia secured the manufacturer's championship.
I'm still a little bit perplexed he said ''my best rally'', then what did Alen do :) ?

Walter Röhrl was (still is) great driver. He is also biggest primadonna of rally history. "I dont like ze people looking me", "I drive only ze beatiful rallis", "i dont like ze lufttime in Finland".

I love it when people find those loopholes in the racing regulations because nobody ever thought that anyone would actually do something, so they never even bothered to make a rule about it

The Italians were and are very mocked by the Germans, so at that point an Italian starts thinking night and day how to deflate the Germans' balloons.

Lancia won and It was Simply fantastic. It looks then thousand Better than the boxy Audi.
I love boxy cars, but this Lancia is beautiful and intimidating at the same time. Just perfection on 4 wheels.
Yes, Italians build the most beautiful cars, but that's about it.
@@arnodobler1096 ...that's about it?😂 put down the whisky man. Lancia even today after decades of absence from rally, is the most winning team on history, unbeaten record. And what about Ferrari then? winning record in F1, and what alfa romeo 155 did in the German DTM? and in motorcycles ? ever heard about ducati...aprilia, MV AGUSTA ...MOTO GUZZI... so i can immagine that apart from beautiful cars, italians are able doing only pizza then ...
