  • Shortly after changing the alternator I decided to change the battery. Noticed an immediate difference in startup time and sound! So here's a quick vid on how to handle this super easy job. Useful info below...
    Make/Model: Toyota Camry
    Year: 2005 (Generation 5, 2003-2006)
    Engine: 2.4L Inline 4 - 2AZFE
    Problem: The car seemed to have a delayed turnover time on startup. The car would start but hesitation can be heard nonetheless. Assumed to be a weakened battery incapable of supplying enough start up voltage. The car recently had its alternator changed and so battery may have been affected in between alternators.
    Solution: Replace battery while taking care to clean terminals, contact points, and surrounding area of corrosion.
    Tools Used:
    - Interchangeable Ratchet Wrench (amzn.to/2lAzdyS)
    - 13 mm Socket
    - 10 mm Socket
    - Flathead Screwdriver (amzn.to/2lBIqXH)
    - WD-40 Lubricant (Optional, amzn.to/425mVid)
    - Safety Glasses (Protects from corrosion)
    - Gloves (Protects from corrosion)
    Thanks for watching!

    why did you connect your terminals to a different battery while you replace your batteries? I was planning to remove my dead battery and take it for return at Costco and install a new one. During this time my connectors will just hang loose. Is there a problem with this?

    • @MikeDunn
      @MikeDunn Před 2 lety +3

      Nope, no problem at all. He just did that so he wouldn't lose his pre-programmed radio stations, lol. So if you disconnect your battery, you will have to reset your radio stations and the clock.

    • @khan_xo
      @khan_xo  Před 4 lety +2

      no “potentially” lol, don’t touch both terminals at the same time with your bare hands as a safety precaution and definitely do NOT connect both terminals to each other (this happens accidentally sometimes with a metal wrench for example). When I go to remove the connection from the terminal I typically use gloves as an extra precaution against shock or corrosion on the terminals. You could also just remove the connection by holding the part of the wire that is covered by rubber insulation when pulling it off.

    • @khan_xo
      @khan_xo  Před 5 lety +4

      Grayer Hawes 2002 is actually included in gen 5 for America, my bad. So it should be the same.
      Generally speaking most car battery replacements are the same except for screw locations maybe.

      I think the codes you are referring to are the codes needed for stereo systems like in some Acura cars. If this happens you should have the code in your owners manual. If you don’t have the owners manual, you would have to go to a dealer to get the code.

    Hi,
    My car is completely dead. Do I need to just change the battery or jumpstart it as well?

    • @khan_xo
      @khan_xo  Před 4 lety

      Niyati chokshi if you change the battery to a new one, there is no need to jump start it. Before changing it out though, trying jumping the current one or using a charger to charge it up if you are unsure if the battery is bad.

      @@khan_xo Thank you so much. I don't have an option for jumpstart on this holiday today- IS it safe to take out the battery and take it to autozone for charging? They said they would charge it for free. It's my first time with a dead car battery and I am a little lost.!

    • @khan_xo
      @khan_xo  Před 4 lety

      Niyati chokshi if you plan on taking it to a place to charge, it would be good practice to keep the connectors separate from each other and exposed metal surface (I would just wrap them in a towel or something). As another safety precaution, the terminals on the battery should not be touched at the same time or connected by some metal. No problem, hope everything works out!

      Every time you disconnect the battery, the car needs to re-learn the proper idle rpm.
      To do this, all you have to do is start the car, put it in drive, then hold your foot on the brake for about 5 minutes.
