  • Fat dissolving injections are a permanent non surgical way to get rid of excess fat. In this video I discuss how they work, what the treatment involves, how long it takes, side effects and if they really are a good alternative to liposuction.

      not knowing much about your equipment here are two small suggestions I think will make a big difference.
      1. Different background color. the white is blowing out the exposure.
      1.5 the camera has a hard time focusing on you. And I think it would help if you wore colors that contrast with the back drop. Like you have this nice color combo with the white shirt and the camel cardigan but the and the back drop is white/too similar.
      2. The camera seems too low. Try zooming out, or lowering the camera enough, so we can see your hand gestures.

    Good video and important to know. I am in the process of getting injections of Kybella on my upper abdomen area, but notice not very much spoken on the kybella in the video just bits and pieces only the others really were talked about. You say the Kybella is not yet FDA approved. Question you think its ever going to be?

      Hi Kelly thanks for the feedback. Really excited about your Kybella journey! Would love to hear how you get on with it.
      The whole video is about Kybella and Belkyra which are the same product but in some parts of the world its called Kybella (e.g USA) and in other countries like the UK it is branded as Kybella. Aqualyx is another brand that I touch on briefly as it is the competitor to Kybella/Belkyra. Kybella is already approved by the FDA for use under the chin and doctors can use it off license for other areas (this is normal with many treatments/drugs). Kybella/Belkyra was not yet approved for use in the UK when this video was made although it is now and is being slowly rolled out.

    Can you make a video on Belkyra now that its been approved in the UK? Is there a difference between Kybella and Belkyra or is it just the name change, if there is a difference can you let us know if its as effective. Also the differences between Belkyra and Aqualyx as Aqualyx is usually the cheaper option

    I did belkyra about a year ago and thinking of getting my second treatment. Does it matter how long it goes between the treatments? Will I have to start from the “beginning” again now when I waited so long for my second one?

    • @CitySkinClinic
      @CitySkinClinic  Před 2 lety

      I'm not entirely sure. It depends on how you initially responded and if you have gained more weight since then. You may not have to start from the beginning as any cells that responded should be permanently taken care of. I'd discuss with your practitioner and see what they think.

    Does the fat dissolving injection travel to other parts of the body once it entered the bloodstream?

    • @CitySkinClinic
      @CitySkinClinic  Před 2 lety +5

      Great question! It shouldn't if administered properly. The injection targets the fat tissues and shouldn't be injected into blood vessels so if done correctly should not enter the blood stream.

    What are the reasons they may NOT work in someone? I've tried 8 sessions and nothing is working. Not one inch.

    • @CitySkinClinic
      @CitySkinClinic  Před rokem +1

      I'm so sorry to hear that. Its hard to say why I didn't work for you as I don't know anything about your case but normally most people start to see some results after 4-5 sessions on average. These should ideally be spaced 4-6 weeks apart. There is also usually a lot of swelling after the treatment that can take up to 7 weeks to settle so if you've just finished the last treatment then the swelling may be obscuring your outcomes. I would recommend going back to your practitioner and discussing with them your results and see why they think it hasn't worked in your case.

      1. The manufacturers state it MUST be exclusively be used in combination with a medium wave ultrasound machine. If this did not occur it may be a reason for non effect.
      2. Presumably- in some individuals the product may be inactivated or broken down by their own bodies including the immune system causing lack of effect.
      3. ? If Injected in the wrong plane- '' the injections must not be too superficial (in the skin)or too deep (into the muscles). Multi-depth injections arerequired to achieve optimal results .''
      4. Fake product being used.

    • @CitySkinClinic
      @CitySkinClinic  Před rokem

      Thanks for your comment @Kilo. Kybella does not have to be used with ultrasound. It's a a stand alone treatment and must be injected alone. It's also only licensed for under chin (submental) fat although doctors can use it (like any medication) off license for other areas but that is done so at their own risk.
      If this treatment was performed at a reputable clinic then the product should be genuine and not expired. You can ask them to check the lot number of the products they used on you (this will be in their records) and contact the manufacturer to check there was nothing wrong with that batch. In terms of wrong plane of injection, this is almost impossible to get wrong for everything injection point (usually there are usually up to 50 separate injections) for 8 separate visits if the person injecting was a trained medical practitioner.
      Metabolism breaking down the product sooner is a possibility in the absence of anything else but seems unlikely to yield absolutely no result. One thing I hadn't mentioned before is if you had it for double chin reduction and you have loose skin or an overactive platysma muscle in that area then this could also affect the results. Even if the fat dissolves, these two things could mask any outcomes. Also if the cause of the double chin was these two factors then Kybella won't work. I'd strongly recommend connecting with your practitioner to try and find out what happened.

    Is there any point on getting this in the tummy during perimenopause. Ive had 2 sessions and nothing has changed

    • @CitySkinClinic
      @CitySkinClinic  Před rokem +1

      That's really hard to say as there are reports that it can work on the tummy but it depends on the amount and distribution of fat cells there. Belkyra/Kybella do require multiple courses to see results so its not a surprise you haven't seen anything yet however I would sit down with your practitioner and ask them if at this stage in their experience you should be seeing something. Also if not then at what pint does it become clear if treatment will work or not just so you can have a realistic idea of how much time and expense you need to commit and if it's likely to be worthwhile for you.

    Can we use it to reduce breast !

    • @CitySkinClinic
      @CitySkinClinic  Před rokem

      Great question Marleine! Although it is not licensed for this, some doctors do use Kybella/Belkyra/Aqualyx to improve contour of the chest and specifically target excess breast fat around the edges t(the bits that bulge from the sides of the bra). However, the breast and its tissue can't be treated like fat elsewhere because it also has very specific functions and because of the risk of breast cancer. As such I don't think there is any evidence at the moment that this can be used to reduce breast volume safely. I recommend keeping an eye out as am sure there are some ongoing studies to see if this can be done safely. I suspect that even if it is found to be safe to use these injections to reduce breast volume, it will still be a limited procedure because it doesn't do anything to the skin. So just like this can't replace a tummy tuck, I believe it won't replace a surgical breast reduction for very large breasts because it can't shrink the skin and connective tissues. I will put up a video soon on breast reduction options so please let me know if you have any questions that I can address in the video.
