- We take the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk off roading at FCA's Lyman Trail, where all FCA off roading vehicles are tested for trail rating. These obstacles show you just how capable the Trailhawk is. Check it out.
It's the most beautiful off-road in the world. The silhouette is perfect.
For the people who hate Chrysler, just a FYI, they test these through much more difficult trails. This is a demonstration for journalist.
I love to drive the Grand Cherokee
So many people bash the WK2s capabilities. I only have a 19 Laredo E, with one size bigger tires, the basic QT1 4x4...I keep it in sport mode for lower gearing and i climb the same type of hills and go through same type of muddy water, even a wet water pouring down, hill and it climbed it.
Anyone else notice he never moved the QuadraLift into OR1 or OR2? Just draggin the beast over that "Clearance" section. LOLOL
Yeah like holy shit he didnt use the 11 inches of ground clearance in OR2!
Yeah man, idk what happened here.
I’m just drooling on the color coordination alone! And it goes off-road? SOLD
Though today's crossover vehicles don't have the articulation of the truck-framed SUV predecessors due to the fully-independent suspension design, they make up for that with well-programmed AWD systems with brake-actuated LSD and locker-like effects to transfer torque to wheels with grip. Thanks so much for uploading this, this is some of the finest crossover vehicle off-road testing I've found on CZcams!
It's not a cross-over vehicle its a proper 4wd.
Jason Moyle - It's not even a "proper" traditional 4WD, it's a full-time 4WD, which is just a glorified AWD system.
No it's not it is a prop[er 4wd system a subaru forrester is a awd car.
I'm sorry, but I'm sure many off-road enthusiasts would agree, that a "proper 4WD" is a 4WD that is part-time. No center differential, no "full-time 4WD", just a true, honest 4WD system that requires actual driver input to switch from 2WD to 4WD. I love my AWD vehicles, but know very well what constitutes a proper 4WD.
FWIW, it has a rear locker...
This vehicle would gain so much more off road credibility and respect if they just added a rear locker. If they can put it in the Cherokee, they can put it in the Grand Cherokee.
I agree. That is one of the downfalls. Everything else is solid. Must be if they put a true locker it would be a higher price. They would have to charge because they won’t eat profit for customer satisfaction lol
I had one of these, they have an ELSD that will do a 100% lock. It conquered black diamond trails in stock form easily. Didn't expect much but it surprised me.
It has a similar system to Range Rover. Doesn't need the locker because the ELSD replicates what a locker does.
@@TheStallion234 It absolutely does not replicate what a locker does. What are you smoking?
@@NemeanLion- The elsd is there in place of a locker like on a Range Rover because it will accomplish many of the same things.
great video I like the Jeep!
Jeep should've added real Diff lockers, front and rear, to make this GC even more capable. Otherwise, what's the difference between the Trailhawk and an Overland (Other than the colors) because i can get the same options in the Overland.
I definitely agree with you. The Jeep Cherokee has real lockers. Would be nice to see them on this. They might have had the design it differently to add Locker I'm not exactly sure
The difference between the overland and thee trailhawk is the off-road protection metals o the bottom to protect the Jeep against rocks
With the Overland, you don’t get those cheap looking decals and red tow hooks (that look silly on anything except the Wrangler). I know the hood decals are supposed to be functional for sun glare, but I think that’s a load of crap.
It's quadra-drive II system which makes the most difference between trailhawk model and all the rest trims, being equipped as standard! With this system, you don't really need lockers as it transfers power from wheels with no traction to wheel with traction up to 100% to just 1 wheel, in a smoothly unnoticeable manner without any slippage
Goes over pebbles "...you can hear the skid plates scraping, doing their job..."
Tests on the Rubicon and Moab are the real deal.
Teo P they have tested the GC trail hawks in both of those areas, check youtube

Bruh, my comment was a year ago, and on this video alone, not others.
The Glad is a true beast, they did an amazing job.
Cheers 😎👍
@@teop7887 all good bro, but they've had those Moab and rubicon videos out there for 2 or 3 years lol.
The gladiator is a beast, but it doesnt provide the luxury of the trailhawk. I like the balance between both in the TH.

I test drove the Grand Trail Hawk, with the Hemi.
Ohhhh what a machine that thing is 😁😁😁
@@teop7887 Ya the hemi version is the ultimate!
Let's be honest here, this trail would be easy for anything with 4x4 and more than four inches of ground clearance.
When I have favorites the one who is favorite makes me stay lol
"For autoblog, I'm Frodo Baggins."
I expected way more out of the "trail rated" trail - I feel like any AWD or 4x4 could do this
Terrible video. General comments, keep it steady....no information related to the jeeps capability. Why kind of 4WD allows it to not spin wheels in the air? Why it is good at water fording - sealed electrical connections? Learn something about the product and communicate some information to your readers. This was just a feel good video of you having a a little fun driving light offroad.
You tell em' Teddy.
Looks like every CZcamsr goes to Lyman trail to film these videos.
I use to be big into the rock crawling thing. When the Grand Cherokees went away from solid front axles I rolled my eyes. This is nice, its no hard core rock crawler but the quadra drive II system is quite impressive. Id love to have one for my wife, and steal it early on Saturday mornings using it to get me to my hunting grounds.
Its a good hiking vehicle or camping
Why you didn't teach us those knobs how it works useless reviews
Short people are like it’s definately illegal it never happened lol
yes, ".. stay nice and even .." - .. I usually have my car jump uphills or from a building lots of fun .. What BS is this here ?
👍👍😎🇺🇸
I wish they hadn't given it rear lockers like they did with the Cherokee trailhawk
There are no lockers on this. It's limited slip
Incorrect. The rear diff will eventually lock.
Looks like most of the time you're not even in off road 2
Wrong.
I was thinking the same thing, it looks like it's on normal ride height.
Looks like we got some Jeep haters. Very good video and demonstration.
None of that looked particularly hard or offroady that a 50k dollar car is needed.
N English But you can do it in comfort and style. BTW no one pays $50k. I got mine for a little over $30k, almost fully loaded too.
Ya cars cool but I’m an SUV guy
Not interesting.
Off road guys love to talk about "lines" more than coke heads do lines.
That is not an off-road vehicle
Could've done that in a RAV4. If that's really the course they use to qualify something as 'trail rated' - then it's a joke.
No. practicalmotoring.com.au/car-advice/just-jeeps-trail-rated-mean/
Lol. “Trail Rated”. a Honda Civic can get through this. Clearly he’s never wheeled in anything other than a mall parking lot. Ugh and that word “capable” get tossed around like the clap. My grandfathers previa all trac is as capable.
Lol i rally my STOCK civic through trails like that..no scrapping
