Apple AirPods: handy volume control tip
Vložit
- čas přidán 2. 01. 2017
- More details on how the digital crown of the Apple Watch can adjust the volume of audio played through Apple AirPods from any audio source.
- I'm using an Apple Watch Series 2
- The Now Playing app needs to be running for this to work. If you don't initially launch Now Playing, the digital crown will not adjust the volume.
- To keep the Now Playing app running, in the Settings app go to General - Wake Screen and select "Always" or "Within 1 Hour of Last Use". This ensures the Now Playing app stays running when the watch screen turns off.
- UPDATE - In Watch OS 4 the Now Playing app automatically launches when playing audio on your phone.
- To adjust the volume turn the digital crown. If the screen is off, turning the crown will first fade the screen back up, then adjust the volume.

1 minute of silence for those who don't have an appple watch
Press F for myself
1 year of silence fot those who dont have an iphone, airpods and apple watch u.u
Hope to buy all three at the same time next year.
I don't have that. I can't afford it. But I have gear s 3 lol
I have a Pebble, but I’m finding Siri to be very convenient way to control the volume. Guess that’s the way forward :) Fitbit Versa is a pebble successor that can do that as well, also with better battery life than apple watch

Thanks now I just need to spend $300 to get myself adjustable volume!
Exactly this fucking dumbass video
Sam Wong 😂😂😂😂

Great tip. Now i just need to buy that dumb watch i actually don't need.
This is the richest quick tip I’ve ever seem
I have a galaxy note 9 and the volume always starts out on full blast every time I watch a new clip on IG or video on CZcams. The shit is annoying and it hurts. Is there any way to have it always start out at a medium or low volume by default.?
Can you do this with every apple watch? Even first gen? And is this working only with apple's stock music app or also with other music apps such as Deezer,Spotify etc? Thank you in advance
What do you do if you have iOS 11, with which Now Playing is not compatible?
This works only if I am connected to the iPhone. What if I am connected to my fire tv ? With Apple TV it works(l have tested it) but not with fire tv. Unfortunately I don't have ATV.
My volume control is a bar rather than a circle, regardless of which app I use including music... how come it's different?
And when I turn the crown when the phone locks, it only brighten or dim the screen, doesn't control the volume... have the series 2... =(
You still have to touch the Watch anyway, I'll rather tap the iPhone volume buttons through my jeans
Juanito Liñares Bet you love touching things through your jeans.
Evan Bedford-Gaines
Fuckboy😂
Juanito Liñares I’ll drink to that (clink)
Evan take the pocket out and make a joke so when you put your hand through start hammering away
Great video. Subscribed. Keep it up man!
Do you mind if I share this tip to my subscribers?
How about while watching u tube ? I double tapped and flicked the page instead of voluming up.
Wow! You need another device to control the volume. The is called innovation 😂😂😂😂
Spend more and more of your hard earned money and make apple ceo rich.
There's also the volume buttons on the phone...
You sound so much like Jony Ive...
yeah...almost the same
I wanted to type the same :D
libertarianvoter he has an English accent. That's it. lol
I was just gonna see if anyone else noticed that. Also...
He sounds like Jony Ive, and is pretty much advertising both AirPods and the Apple Watch. There's only one explanation... it's Jony Ive in a disguise, trying to sell us products
@@Sebastian-richter They have a very similar English accent, not identical but they do sound more alike than if you chose two random Englishmen from random places in the country.
I didnt know this, super awesome! I have an apple watch too! Thanks
can you do this with an apple watch 0?
Oh thank you this a great tip! I feel a bit a wally tapping my ear out and about saying play louder! I have a first gen watch and it works fine!
Anyone know how to do this on I7-TWS?
Thank you for this advice
Awesome Tip! TY
@martin keen do you control the volume via your watch which is streaming music to your airpods or is the music controlling the music which is played from your iPhone?
Perfect thanks a lot! Much appreciated
Doesn’t seem to work when listening to CZcams on your AirPods though; only music.
Great, great, GREAT TIP!! But then I used them on my new iPhone 8 Plus... and the little volume circle isn't visible when I stream Pandora.... it worked fine on my iPhone 6S Plus (with iOS 11). Weird.
That was great tip never thought of that thanks
Hey Martin I just got my AirPods yesterday - this is a fantastic tip! I will be able to keep phone tucked away on commute still and not look like a fool telling Siri to change volume from track to track!
I like this video's minute edit detail in the end when he increases volumn on watch and video's in sync
Thanks for that tip
So to avoid having to turn the volume up by touching my phone, I need to spend another $500 to touch something else? Makes sense.
Thanks guy. I wish I could give you 1,000 likes!!!👍🏽
Gracias!
just got some. i love them!!
Pretty cool, but why would one need another 320€ device in order to adjust volume?!
brilliant tip I didn't know, thanks!
Thanks for the tip 🤗
What a great tip! Thanks!
Thank you!
Smart. Thanks for the tip
Why my aipods is no sounds?
Ty, your video was the only one that made sense about the volume using my andriod
Good video. You rock!
Brilliant..glad I found your video!
You can change the settings for touch within the Bluetooth settings
Had no idea, thanks!!!
Great tip - thank you very much.
Hey, great tip Martin. Hey, please help me out with this. What about "Hey Siri"? Does it work in any way? Does "Hey Siri" work if your iPhone mic can hear you? And then, you hear Siri through the Airpods?
Martin Keen Great to know. Thank you.
why can't slide on them to adjust vol.? a dumb thing i never going to buy unless it can do everything the wired ones can.
Nice. Thank you!
awesome thank you!
Thanks man! :)
Wow such a great tip!
very cool, great tip. Thank you. And your vid is great too, nice voice, moderated and good background music, volume good
good looking 👍🏿
I have an iPhone XS Max, an Apple watch 3 with cellular, and a set of AirPods and the way they all work seamlessly together without me having to switch device connections is just amazing.
I have other Apple products in my home of course and my AirPods work seamlessly with them too, but when I am on the go my phone, watch, and airpods are a joy to use together.
Because my Apple Watch is cellular, I sometimes leave my phone in my office or in my locker at the gym and my AirPods just seamlessly without any input from me connect to my watch so I dont miss any calls and can stream my music and podcast without my phone, and when I get back to my phone the Airpods just synch right back to my phone.
Of course having an Apple Watch makes controls for Airpods a none issue.
OMG he does sound like Jony Ive lol... great review cheers Ocean 🌊 from Australia 🇦🇺
Awesome!!!!
Okay I love my Apple Watch.
I really want Apple Ear Pods now!!!!
Would be much easier for my sprint sessions and gym sessions.
HE SOUNDS LIKE THE DUDE FROM APPLE THAT INTRODUCED THEM
Would be great if the volume control worked outside of the 'Now Playing' app for Apple Watch Series 2 but alas it does not.
What watch do you have? I have the first gen Apple watch and I'm unable to do this :(
Martin Keen what a bummer, maybe an update could solve this. Anyways cheers and thanks for the video.
Jeff Campbell I have the first gen Apple Watch and can confirm that this method does work for it as well. In fact, it's been working ever since I've owned it.
Yep. I also have the original Apple Watch and it's not working for me. I guess you need a Series 2. Not sure about the Series 1
how do you use it on your AW gen 1?
I have a gen 1. Its works with the Now Playing app open but not closed
Subbed
Great tip! I thought this might be the case but haven't tried it yet. Opening the "now playing" app on the Watch is more cumbersome than just managing the volume on your iPhone, but this is the best (better than Siri because it's finer tuning and always works the first time).
Good!
The now playing thing pops up automaticlly on my watch when my music starts playing so all I have to do is twiddle the crown. Job done! Cheers for the tip mate. Ideal! :)
you're a mad genius
Great tip! To pull pros out more easily, pull them from the back straight towards you.
Seriously? How have I not figured this out before now? 🙄😏 GREAT tip!!!! Thanks...
Apple is getting good at there tech.
Hi guys I’m new to the AirPods community!
Idk how to adjust my volume without touching my phone...,?
I searched all CZcams to find how to use the Apple Watch as my AirPods controller
Tnx for this tip
Very cool! thanks
That’s all fair and we’ll but they ARE Bluetooth headphones. How do you adjust volume if paired through a non Apple device?
Amaizing
I cannot use the telephone keypad whenever the AirPods are connected. For example; when I'm on a phone call and it says "press 1" for this or "2" for that, it never works. I hear the tone but it won't make a selection unless they are disconnected. Another flaw is that the keyboard reacts extremely slowly whenever the AirPods are connected. Additionally, AirPods are very easy to loose and Apple is making us wait for a "find my AirPods" feature. Seems like Apple wants us to loose them. They should have made sure that the user experience was better before removing the headphone jack on the iPhone 7.
You don't need to double tap. Just say hey siri. It works now even unplugged on iPhone 8
I had a lot of trouble adjusting the volume of the AirPods on the Apple TV. I don't use the Apple TV Remote because it is too hard to use. I can't use it in the dark. It's hard to feel where the buttons are, and I can't find the touchpad without using it, usually with unwanted results, so it stays in a wooden box. I have been using my TV Remote, which is much better suited to the job.
Now I have found a use for the Apple TV Remote! The volume buttons on the Apple TV Remote adjust the volume on the AirPods!
ok, time to buy an apple watch then
LOL
yes it’s what Apple wants
Steven Gouws yeah. Spend your money and make apple rich.
Or time to buy better headphones. 😂
Meaning to say you cant volume up without wifi coz u need siri 😂
Sweet I just need an iwatch to turn up my volume....
Who else has this problem where siri turns up the music all the way up when u ask it to do something while using airpods??? It blew my ears when i asked it to lower the volume can someone please explain I’m a bit pissed off :(
Good tip but it suck that wouldn’t be good for at the gym. Not too many people wear watches while working out
is it just me or does his voice remind me of Johnny Ive?? You could do apple ads you have a great voice.
I see that We can pair the airpods with iphone 6 and 7 really easily, just open the case and it will be connected automatically.
but I wonder how Iphone 5 is gonna be. Anyone got an answer to my question? 🤔🤔🤔
why would it work any different lol
huiAPPOAJ thanks! 👍👍
With AirPods, you can tell Siri turn up or turn down by percentage, "Siri turn up volume by 75%". It works at any percentage.
You don't have to unlock your phone or take it out of your pocket to hit the volume buttons.
So there is no way to turn the volume down without using another device as a remote. Smh.
I’m confused I thought AirPods just came out
Who’s watching with airport bc I sure am😁😁😁
Damn, they really didn't include a way to turn up the Volume on these with gestures? Guess I'll be returning these Airpods Pro.
So I just need a $300 dollar volume controller... awesome!
doesn't work with a series 1 watch. once the watch goes to sleep you have to wake it to have volume access
the watch doesn't change the volume IF THE WATCH SCREEN ISNT ON. other than that great ass video
Great now I wish I had an Apple Watch damnit
Cute
Who is try to talk to siri and it didnt work
Well next Christmas I’ll get the watch I guess
and what if you dont own / dont want to own an apple watch......
0:36 Cumbersome means large or heavy, I don’t think you’re using that word right
lol i knew about the watch tip but found out about the Siri one by watching this video.
If you can use the watch why not use the phone at that point
