  • My Bonnie was running poorly at low revs which points towards a blocked pilot circuit, so might as well strip and clean both carburetters.
I have an ultrasonic bath which makes life a lot easier.

It's just a standard ultrasonic from Amazon, the 15 litre version, looks like the price has gone up a lot though.

Nice video, should be helpful for those who haven't done it before. One small point, although you said you put the needle clip in the wrong position at first, the top groove (lowest needle position) is actually the standard setting for the T140V. I presume you have changed yours because you are running bell-mouths instead of the airbox.

Always ran them on the middle groove with no problems. Saying that I’ve never had a standard induction or exhaust system so it’s hard to tell.
Triumph also show different float level heights but I’ve never had any issues going with standard Amal settings.
Edit: You know what, I'm going totry them in position 1 and see what happens.

It looks like your choke has been either removed or never there. I presume it works great without one. Mine has a choke, but I'm thinking of not running with one. Any suggestions please?

When originally designed these carbs never had chokes, they have what’s called a tickler that allows you excess fuel to be pumped into the intake for cold starting.
If your bike is running fine with the current set up I’d leave it as it is.

Thanks for this I'm gonna change my monobloc to concentric on my Velocette MSS, anything to look out for? One more thing iv got a choke which I never use do I have to fit that as well?

If the carb has a tickler then no need for a choke. But this also depends on how easy the bike starts when cold.
I would leave the choke fitted and see how it goes.

Yeah there is a tickler on the old monobloc carb the bike starts easier with out tickling and no choke. Thanks for the quick reply
