so crazy how a game that came out over 20 years ago is still JUST flat out better then the complete waste of money 80$ beta ass version of D4 we got
I got a refund from Blizzard for D3, and I never bothered even trying D4 :P
I tried the D4 demo back in March '23 and while it had some promising ways, it also felt like something wasn't entirely right. I did play D3 thanks to my mom who wanted some couch co-op games on the PS4 I gave her (got my PS5 in April last year and she wanted the former console). D2Rez is a game that I'll always keep a spot in my heart since I grew up with D1 and 2. Ended up buying the Switch port for some Diablo 2 on the go on top of the Sony version since I have a friend who also bought it on that platform for some multiplayer

So happy to be playing D2 again. Just grinding my solo found characters. Finally have my Uber smiter geared out. It took awhile but I'm going to get me some torches!! Thanks Phil for all your tips, tricks and knowledge about the game over the years.
Yeah I just did my first four Uber run ever. I f... up one time, so only got three torches. Couldn't get back to my body - Mephisto keep one shotting me when I entered Tristam. Unfortunately none of my torches is for mage. I got for Necromancer, Druid and Amazon so I need more key running.

Great video as always phil, was wondering tho, like the nightmare act 2 merc for holy freeze, does the normal act 2 merc have a higher prayer aura as opposed to a nm/hell act 2 merc?
Aura level is based off of merc level. So the hell merc will start at a hugher aura level due to their higher starting level.
what about porting to trone and crossing nervous souls with that spec ?

So really the big difference for the Infinity nova sorc which has been my main Char for like over a year now which the clear speed is faster than anything I have come across is the healing and curse removal factor from your companion yeah?

Hey man, great job as always 👍, may ask a question if the set player 8 gives 450% for solo player, is that mean that at level 98 will get 5% xp instead of 0.5% ? Or it doesn't work that way?

It is 450% * 0.59% = about 2.65% of monsters base exp (0.59% is rounded 98 lvl penalty).

My fav sorc build is the dual Blizz/Chain Light, just sad you can't get synnergies for dual specs

Yeah I also have a Nova Sorceress. Don't have Infinity so I use Crescent Moon sword and spirit shield. I also use the three pieces of Tals set. Belt, armor and amulet for magic find. It not strong enough for Chaos Sanctuary, but good enough for pit at players three, and keys farming. Hopefully I will some day get the Ber's needed for Infinity.
I myself have a self wielding infinity sorceress and wear a griffons, magefist, 2 sojs, arachnid's, and crafted caster boots and it just melts players 8 games im in!

My favorite is 200fcr with Inifinity on the merc. Instead of coh, I have fortitude...Cure is an interesting option, which I may try, atm I am with Andy visage with a poison facet + phoenix on swap, it literally acts like a rejuv potion

Im gonna be swapping my chain lightning to this build, as soon as a i find a eth scythe base. You mentioned Lidless for offhand +1 skill, and how theyre a pain to find. To keep strength as low as possible, try a Splendor runeword in a 2 sock Small Shield with a str req of only 22! Buy one from charsi, and who hasnt got Eth & Lum kicking about by the time you're building this build!?

Not speaking for Phil, but that is usually why it is done. Overall your gear has very low strength reqs unless you use boots that have a higher req, I use silkweave and it is my highest gear requirement at 65 strength, so save 91 stat points that can go to energy

I’m having a tough time finding gear. I’m building off of a level 63 holy shock paladin. Currently looking for crescent moon base. Any tips to help out for my single player pally?

I first made a Hammerdin this ladder, then respecced to FOHdin, then i made a Sorc and now i have made Infinity for her and it rolled very good -53 320ED. And i have a perfect upped Vipermagi, and today i bought an 18 15 Griffon which i need to socket and then i still have no 5 5 light die, need 2, then i have no light skillers yet. But i have the rest.

What would you consider a decent budget alternative to CoH for the merc?
I use Griswolds with 2 sol and an ort. (Prayer merc+insight+cure) No life leach, but dude never dies.
You can use "Skin of the Flayed One" has 5-7 life leech, but I don't really think you need life leech to be honest. It is better to have high res on the hireling.
After 20 years today i made my first Infinity ever. And i am using it for my nova sorc now :D

Skin of the Flayed One is BOS for a Prayer Merc, just chuck a Shael in it to help him with his FHR.
Since you have max lightning mastery and all the prereq skills for Thunderstorm, you should put 1 skillpoint into Thunderstorm
It Is an Aura that Hits one random Monster every two Seconds. Not impressive but a little additional damage.
Its so little damage compared to the nova spam it wont even be noticable.
I did that too. Its fun when you rush players in Normal. Just tele arround and everything dies :)
What would you recommend as a replacement for Cure? I play Non Ladder
If you're still online you can wait until ladder resets and trade for one. If you're single player you should be able to make non-ladder runewords no problem. Otherwise the standard options. Something with resists and life steal. Stealcasque, Crown of Thieves, Vampire's Gaze, Andariel's Visages socketed with a Ral, or the cheap and easy to find Tal Rasha's Mask.

You have a shield that pretty much will do, but change the topaz for a UM, and find some small all res charms. Focus on lightning and fire.
isnt infinity enough to make all monsters light immunity gone? why you have a lightning sunder aswell? also isnt forti ethereal better than coh for merc? or for this build coh is best?
He explains that CoH is for the life leech.
Conviction can't break all immunities. Certain uniques and champions will spawn with unbreakable immunities.
Im on soft core -so i dont have cure :(( but the build is SICK everything dies within 5 secs unless i get the curse that takes health on cast.. but my question is can i do ubers with it online - softcore???

I know this isnt meant as a leveling build but i did it anyway. Nm A5 is rough with 190 hp and low ranks in energy shield....at what point does it become "tanky"?

i usually run 200fcr with infinity on merc. insight is uneeded when your dmg is high enough

Cures from prior ladder exist, can't make it on NL til after S5 starts hopefully.

You fucking die instantly in Trav 😂 happened to me once, now I ES the moment the game starts even before cta buffs in case I forget

@@A_state_of_PJ crescent moon sword griffons eye diadem with light facet spirit shield vipermagi armor upped to wyrmhide mage fist or trangs gloves for fcr or plus to fire skill to boost warmth for ES maintain. Gold wrap belt for MF aldur boots for fire res and run walk. I have a cta on swap but rarely use it as it's a low roll on BO. lightning sunder charm gheeds charm Anni charm no torch yet offline a couple skill charms and some mana life grand charms and I fill the rest of the space with res and mf small charms. On the vipermagi you can use a face for more damage or put an ort rune for light res if you come up short.

Maybe I missed this, but I don’t believe you explained why the self wield infinity is better than merc wielding it and sorc holding normal wep + spirit. Is it because conviction applies quicker or something?
Because infi has -55% enemy lightning resistance which is far better than +5 skills (oak + spirit)
@@ateenschen1577 i wonder if crescent moon + spirit (-35% Lres + 2 skills) + Infinity on merc would be better than self wield infinity with -55%? since you don't just get plus skills but also other vastly good bonus with equipping spirit like resistance, life, mana, and best of all, 35 fcr; which mean you are more flexible on choosing more mf gears

@@PLDUS1310 You can get Insight from a Metalgrid iron golem. Metalgrid has bad stats otherwise though.
@@v-long2136 Negative, +2 skills only give around 15% enhanced overall lightning damage, but infi can give additional -20% enemy lightning resist which is still far better than +2 skill. However, if you use crescent moon, you can use shako and 105FCR at ease, it will give you better MF when you doing 3pp mf in pit and cow with a2 merc using insight only. A very decent choice in ladder start.
My biggest problem is that I've found exactly ONE sunder charm and it was poison :(

Strength is such an undesirable element to develop in this situation that it is even advisable to lose your bonuses

With the sunder charms, I prefer a spirit+eschuta build with 200fcr for the final breakpoint on my nova sorc and cta+spirit on swap. Infinity seems unnecessary now and having 200fcr is a lot of fun.
Of course, it is hard to get a decent amount of mf though. In fact, my nova sorc only has 150ish mf. I also have everything socketed with facets, but perhaps you're right that it might be better to socket for mf instead. The extra -5 +5 is nice, but not super neccesary.

I am running the Griffon's Eye, but i am still only at 200 mf. would it be fine to run my shako, which has 74%, which would boost me over 250 mf?
choosing between 200mf when using griffons and 274mf using shako, I would choose the griffons and 200mf.
200mf is enough. You're near diminishing returns
I built this but found it hard to do damage in hell. I had no skill charms so it was rough with only around +8 to skill with gear. I respec to blizz and can actually kill stuff easier. I miss the full screen static though! Makes group play faster!
It's a fun build very fast paced play style. I can't wait to respec back!

I play SP only. I turned my lightning sorc to ES self wield infinity nova sorc. I find it much funnier to play.

I dont play much SP so i understand the Mancatcher, but Brandistock is better cause its -20 speed not -10 as scythe and that helps if you wanna self wield it also on trapsin.
You wouldn’t put a scythe or Brandi stock on an end game merc

D4 is unplayable for me for some reason all of a sudden. Ordered more ram. I've still never made my own infinity on singleplayer hmmm...
It does rely on the end game gear for maximum efficiency, but once you get there it's possibly the most OP Sorc build in the game. I remember playing this around 2010 on ladder & it wrecked everything back then too.
Well now you have sunder charms which really make a big difference, significant buff to modern sorc
Splendor is good cheap +1 skill shield if you have low str. You can make it any 2 soc shield

Probably the fastest build in the game. Javazon is a bit faster killing monsters but teleport speed is unmatched so overall sorc is the more faster build.
How much mf do you have with that setup? a good amount which seems to kind of top you out is around 300-350 mf, is that possible with this setup?
ofc you probably kill faster than a blizz sorc can, so maybe it evens out :D and for runes mf doesn't matter anyway so it's def. better with a light sorc for runes
He has around 150, basically impossible to get above 250 with self wield infinity without 2/20 amulet etc
trident is best in slot for self weilding infinity. Lowest strn required
Because he uses a mancatcher, he can also put it on his merc without sacrificing damage

A 5/5 faceted plus 3 to nova Ormus is far better. I mean either way melts players 1….I ran vipermagi until I could trade for one and I haven’t looked back. A powerful and fun character . Great key farmer too 😎
Idk you lose too much,
Ormus you lose 10 fcr, so you have to drop a soj losing the huge mana boost, and +1 to all skills
You lose 13 magic damage reduced by, very important for surviving as energy shield sorc.
You lose the +1 to all skills from vipermagi… so that’s 2 nova, 2 lightning mastery (from the 2 to all skills) you lose for 3 nova and roughly the equivalent of +to lightning skill damage as one level of lightning mastery.
Not really much of a gain, big losses.
Also really hard to find a 3 nova in single player, and you can put a -5/5 in vipermagi too. I wouldn’t even keep the 3 nova in single player
Also lose +2 to frozen armor, +2 to warmth, +2 to battle orders, +2 to Thunderstorm with Ormus
@@southhouse8420u don’t lose a SoJ get an FCR ammy. I’ve done it both ways and since resists are irrelevant Ormus is better in every way. If u are after raw damage that is the BIS armor for this build.
This is with a 10 fcr ammie that I figured that, unless you mean a 2/20fcr caster ammie which is impractical in single player simply for how bad the odds are of ever rolling one. You’d have to trade for one to get one in multiplayer and they go for a lot. I’d still use vipermagi with +3 lightning skills +10fcr ammy. Resistance on vipermagi isn’t too important but 35 poison resistance isn’t something to ignore on nova sorc, and 13 magic damage reduced by is the more important stat
Although I admit I could see where you’re coming from if you happen to have a 2 sorc 20 fcr amulet with nice other rolls but I thought those were like 40jahs+ in value kinda rare. Was never that rich on ladder and switched to single player a while back. And it would still be defensively worse, unless the ammie was gg

if you make a build video of a nova sorc, dont get lazy at the infinity. you waste way to much stats to wear that version of infinity.

You gotta put one skill into thunder storm, it does over 2k damage per hit. There's no reason not to have it, especially since it's passive.
