  • Here comes the third episode of the Bering Life Mediterranean edition. The next stop was Symi island, which, several hundred years ago, was making money off sea sponges, and before that, it was mentioned in Homer's Iliad’s chip catalog. Alexei Mikhailov and the Bering crew came to Symi Bay, where many Mediterranean letters in the bottle thrown in the water swim to. Alexei takes a 50-knot-per-hour Bering Marine BM28 hydrofoil-supported catamaran to hunt octopuses and cook them in the galley of B92 Papillon in the evening.
Bering ladies visit the sponge shop, owned by one family for over 30 years. They learn about what kind of sponges inhabit the waters around Symi and how long it takes to grow to a specific size. The next stop is the Takis leather workshop, where master Takis creates beautiful pictures using hot tools. He speaks about his craft and opens up on the issue of success and fame. The last stop before dinner is the Holy Monastery of the Taxiarch Michael Panormitis, where our guys walk the uncrowded monastery and enjoy beautiful icons. Finally, there was the dinner with the octopuses and local wine, which was always above the expectations.
An overnight march to Crete and four days on this beautiful island… Subscribe to our channel to see all the upcoming episodes!
