#gaming #gamereviews #2024 - Hry
I'm glad you're still reviewing older/smaller RPGs. I know most viewership is hyped for big titles but I always apreciate having a proper YT channel with awesome reviews of indie/AA RPGs
If he didn't, the channel would have less character. It supplements the big reviews quite well.
Still won't touch blobbers (first person dungeon crawlers). Probably because they tend to be story lite (with some major exceptions).
I love games a lot more than I love views, playing games that look interesting to me and expanding my own field of knowledge is what I see as most important. Makes for a nice robust back catalog for people to watch as well.
Will you be reviewing shadow of the erd tree?
The only real question
I think he forgot it was coming out
Buddy has too
Given that he reviewed elden ring and like it a lot , i think he will . Plus he generally reviews expansions or big updates .
My tired ass eyes read that as Shadow of the eel turd. I had questions.
In Fallout 3, I've always liked the radio speeches from the President John Henry Eden character that were definitely inspired by Roosevelt's "Fireside Chats". The delivery is baffling (it sounds like a southern drawl in 2x speed) but that kind of adds to the experience.
Now do a "My Next 10 "Next 10 Reviews" Videos" video
I do those at the start of the year!
You thought you had him with this one, but it is Mortismal Gaming you're talking to.
One of the leads on Star Wars Outlaws recently said that some of the story inspiration came from Martin Scorsese’s dark comedy After Hours. That made me raise my eyebrows a little, in a good way.
Running about in a Ubisoft open world Star Wars game made by the makers of The Division? Yeah, admittedly I’m already down. But the idea that it may also surprise a little in substance is welcome.
I played Fable so much way back when I was a teen when it released. Will be nice to see you cover this gem.
I am keeping the tradition of recommending Nier Automata at these sort of videos :D
Such a great game, I only played it once but I still remember so much of it. The tone of the game just hit right for me, one of the few games I wish I could play for the first time again
I'd recommend the original Nier as well, excellent game.
Well I for one love all of your videos and I'm looking forward to watching each of these upcoming reviews! I wish you nothing but the best of luck, pal and make sure to take a break every now and again!
Take care, Mort and thanks for updating us all!
Invisible Inc. and Satellite Reign are both really good, often overlooked trpgs
Completely forgot about Satellite Reign. It scratched that Syndicate itch well enough. I played it to completion and liked it.
Thanks for the roadmap for your reviews.
Fable 1 is a nostalgia trigger for me. The music, the atmosphere…
I thought Black Myth was scam cause it has that "too good to be true" type of look.
But it's turning out to be a real deal so I'm more than happy!
We are now entering true next gen games. We’ve had some like Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarock, Spider-Man 2 & Final Famtasy Rebirth.
@bigzachful Yeah visually we had pretty great years for gaming lately.
I hope I could say that to optimization part too.
@@bigzachfulall cross gen games are except Spider-Man 2
When's it "finally" releasing?
@@hyperbloq5163 August 20, 2024
"Next few months are pretty light anyway" = "I'll just 100% 20 games a month, instead of 30."
So awesome that you're going to cover Fable!!!
I love the variety of genres you cover. Literally, there is something for everyone on your channel
Love the channel Mortym! Keep up the good work!
As someone who has been subbed to you for a while and started pathfinder wotr just 2 days ago and, completely by coincidence found out that you made videos about it like 2 years ago, I am insanely happy about the fact that there will be some more content from you about that game.
Well I don't want to brag but I was like 'the' guy for it for quite a while. In fact all of the guides on how to unlock all the mythic paths came originally came from me. These days Slandered Gaming and CRPGbro put out great stuff as well.
Always support you covering legacy RPGS.
Not many cover those games anymore
There is this new CRPG 'Vendir: Plague of Lies', I dont know if you knew about this game but its quite good
I'm glad to see you're getting into Phantom Doctrine. Other than Persona 5 probably my most played through game.
Needs Kenshi! Such a unique and excellent RPG experience. That game needs a Mortismal review!
Holy shit a kenshi fan in the wild
Ive been looking into it and I think it would be difficult to review in my normal style just because of how the game works. Would likely be something more akin to the 'my thoughts on _____' series
@@MortismalGaming oh that’s super unfortunate. You mean just because it doesn’t have many achievements? It’s a very in depth game with lots of lore in a unique world setting. It just doesn’t hold your hand at all. The lore is presented Elden Ring style and you are left to make your way in the world however you wish.
I really do hope you’re able to find a way to do something on it. I think you would really enjoy it.
I thought Greedfall 2 was coming out in the next few months, but it looks like it's just "summer"
Fable remains somehow my favourite game of all time. It makes no sense, and I can't even really explain it. So I am super duper looking forward to your review!
WH40k Boltgun and Star Wars Outlaws are both ones I am looking forward to.
Speaking of your oldest videos...I enjoy watching those the most. The voice sounds completely different and it all just has a different feel to it! You make a few like your old FO4 videos just for nostalgia!
Curious about Still Wakes the Deep. I’ll remind myself like I always do once in a while and humbly suggest that you give Pathologic 2 a shot, that game deserves a Mortismal review!
Looking forward to the fable review!
Solid list Mort.
Thanks for the video. I look forward to your FO3 review. I'm kind of cagey about saying it, especially on your channel, but I do think it's the strongest entry in the series, at least since the switch to first person. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
Just the other day I was wondering if you had played the Fable trilogy, glad we'll get to see you cover it soonish.
I'm happy to hear you're getting more interested in Warhammer 40,000. The whole setting is a ton of fun. I'm playing through Rogue Trader right now and I'm really enjoying it. Space Marine 2, soon :)
I'm on Martyr inquitor rn can't wait for space marine 2 😎😎
Would you recommend rogue trader for a w40k noob?
@@JulesNekro Well, it's a great game. Are you somewhat familiar with the cRPG genre? If you are, it'll be a breeze to get into. 40k is an incredible setting and you will learn a good bit about it just playing the game. I'd say go for it, take your time, and have fun. If you'd like to learn more about 40k in general, I'd suggest other youtube channels like Leutin09, Weshammer, and Baldermort's guide to warhammer. All fun channels with lots of entertaining videos about the setting.
Yes ! Drakensang and Wukong ! Nice nice nice 🙂
Looking forward to Pathfinder WotR final review and the subsequent lore videos. Such a good game that I just want to see more content for it.
I can't wait for fable 1 review
I tried playing Fallout 4 recently, turns out I am not a fan and seems I like the OG 1 and 2 much better
Try New Vegas then, altho booo, fo4 rocks :)
@@Tangomango1720 Not saying it's not good, just not for me. I did not like Skyrim either, and I like these types of games.
I think the trend is OG players tend to like New Vegas more, while new players like FO4 more. Not set in stone, and of course some like all of them or the other, but I think you'd like New Vegas with some mods.
New Vegas is the best Fallout since Fallout 2.
Looking forward to your Black Myth and story of WOTR content. Cheers.
Phantom Doctrine is one of my favorites of all time. Very excited to hear what you think, even if you don’t like it.
Good morning, Mortym!
cant wait for Black Myth Wukong
Fable!! I absolutely love that game and have been patiently waiting for the reboot. So glad to finally see the release window during the Xbox showcase. Looking forward to your review!
I'm certainly looking forward to horror game. Been a while since I played something, honestly scary.
Finally wotr story video :)
Fable 1 was my fav too. It had the best spells.
Looking forward to the Wrath final review
As a new crpg player i love your chanel. Played bg 3 and loved it. So had to find a new crpg and pathfinder is awesome. Thank you for all the great content and helping me find a new game i can get lost in.
Happy for you. The games in the genre tend to age well, so you can always go back and try the games you are interested in without them feeling too dated.
Love you channel! Personally, I am most excited about your Grim Dawn review. I am eager to hear your thoughts and feelings about the game, especially given how much you like Diablo 2.
Interested in the Fables and Star Wars reviews. Any new Wrath content is sure to be awesome. Maybe a couple new build videos off that last run?
I really enjoyed Phantom Doctrine. Good time and doesnt wear out its welcome
i spent 115 hours 100%ing phantom doctrine. it wasn't the BEST but has some cool unique mechanics im eagerly awaiting you covering
Hey man, watching your videos for a while now and loved pretty much every one :D so keep up the good work :)
BUT I wanted to say that i would LOVE a review about Battle Brothers. Since you play a lot of TRPGs i thought you´d like that maybe :) Cheers!
Its on my list
Can’t wait for the path of righteousness walkthrough and do your builds too
WotR you will have a nice ride. last DLC is ok, a nice goodbye, but "The Last Sarkorians" that is very good. And adding 1 new character from chapter 1, with his questline and special maps, is also quite a bit of content.
Interregnum: False Prophet is due out June 18th in Early Access, Is a tactical RPG.
Hey i am a happy few that you will review it. An amazing story.
yes !
I wasn't a fan when I played it a bit, but I'm interested in the review for sure. I think I missed a lot.
Got a feeling you'll have a great time with Fallout 3, it's basically Oblivion with guns (minus the guilds) so it has that secondhand nostalgia to go for it lol
I was really surprised by the Flintlock demo. Seems a game with a good variety in gameplay and the demo was really fun.
I think that the Fallout 3 review will be very interesting.
I'm excited for Fable. I remember playing it on the Xbox when I was really young. Would be great to play a modern version!
I am a big fan of Phantom Doctrine. Supposedly a sequel is on the way.
Would like a Trails series review from you in the future!
I really liked We happy few's concept more than the game itself
never heard of phantom doctrine. i love trpgs :3 ill put it on the wishlist.
I enjoyed Phantom Doctrine quite a lot, it's rough but has some neat ideas 👍
when will we see freedom force ?
Maybe not the review we deserve, but definitely the one we need... Some day, it will happen.
Eventually
Still Wakes The Deep hype!!
Hope you have an amazing day too.
after the SMTV promo, it would be cool to see you cover stuff like smt3 nocturne (featuring Dante from the devil may cry series) or other jrpgs on the channel
excited for the fable review!!! hoping there may be fable 2 & 3 reviews if a console is readily accessible :P
You can stream them to PC, but I actually own 3 from it's initial steam release and can play it natively
@@MortismalGaming woah! now there's something i wish i could say 😅 glad to hear it!
Yeah Drakensang!!!
*Cries in Avernum*
(Looks like an interesting list of games though regardless)
Oh Drakensang The River of Time, will have to find out how to run that game.
Ive heard its the same as the first in that you need to launch it windowed on windows 10/11
Surprising we havent heard anything on PD2, but that is fine looking forward to your review.
I dont think you have done a Klei ent. review, but you should add Invisble Inc or Supergiants Transistor as an old game to review. Both excellant games made by 2 devs studios who never dissapoint.
Ooh phantom doctrine has been in my library for years without being touched, I think I got it in a bundle and know pretty much nothing about it, will be interested in your thoughts.
Ahhh, original Fable. I really miss the Jack of Blades voice from that version of the game. I found it much more menacing than the deeper approach from The Lost Chapters and Anniversary editions of the game
pathfinder - love it
Unless you have to wait a week because some stuff was broken in the update. Not mods, actual base game things.
@@maxrobe Paused my playthrough to wait for this DLC, there any breaks really bad?
@@uhobme2028 Only really if you like pets. They don't level properly and there are some problems with mounted stuff - which probably related to said pet problem in general.
I would recommend Moonring, It's really polished and a lot of fun in my opinion.
Hey Mortie, have u ever thought of doing a top 10 of your favourite lore within gaming? Could be a fun video
I've jsut started my WOTR rerun as well, trynig the new class,s the new stuff, everything. I've not played through sakoris DLC, none of the new stuff so it's a great time!
Also, Phantom Doctrine is actually pretty cool, there's some good mechanics in there that come from outside the typical move shoot hide of the genre. Pretty interested to see the review!
Phantom Doctrine is a great little game! One of only a handful of games I bought on more than one platform (Switch and PC). I'm looking forward to seeing your take on it.
Should call this type of video the review preview 😉
Gotten bit by the 40k bug eh? Was the same after playing Rogue Trader. Not sure how long I'll stick around the universe but been checking it out.
Man, I loved Klei Entertainments Mark of the Ninja game which led me to their other game Invisible Inc that I loved so much I needed to find a game like that and it led me to Phantom Doctrine. It's a typical spy game nothing ground breaking in any way but what a fun game, love that style of game and can't wait for you to cover it as well. Next year I'll be upgrading my laptop hopefully to the modern era and will finally be able to play the game on max settings instead of just the bare minimum.
It's a good gameplay loop although it did get a bit cookie cutter by the mid game once you had all the systems figured out etc, I'd say a solid 3.5/5 type game that's a worthwhile fun ride for the amount it cost tbh.
So, I have never played Wrath (I did play Kingmaker and Rogue Trader). I now have it in my steam library together with both season passes.
Been watching Mort’s old vids on it to get ready. Look forward to the new one.
Given how much there is to the game now with all the DLC, starting fresh with zero experience is daunting.
Anyone have some quick advice to make a first playthrough fun from a RP prospective? I believe I saw that Nenio is hilarious?
I have Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous and Boltgun on my Pile of Shame. I have to play them soon.
If you like the Warhammer 40k Universe i can recommend the first Space Marine and Dawn of War 1 and 2. Amazing games that aged very well.
Good show sir
You should check out Airships : Kingdoms Adrift. Hidden gem
I'd recommend the toybox mod for getting footage
Doesn't add any features, essentially just adds a lot of console commands etc, whixh would allow you to speed up reconatruxtion of those save files.
Yeah Ive used it before back when I still was covering it a lot, certainly an option
excited for phantom doctrine review because it was very hard when i tried it. Have you considered Reviewing Rise of the Ronin at some point?
If it ever comes to PC
@@MortismalGaming oh yeah my bad, will probably take awhile.
I'm really excited for the Drakensang one! Lots of good games on this list.
PS: Haven't done this in awhile...The Banner Saga Trilogy please
Have you thought of reviewwing Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess? It's releasing in july and is a tactical game made by Capcom which is a pretty unique combination since the studio is primarily known for action combat games. It's also got a really rad aesthetic.
I might take a look at it but a review is doubtful currently
fallout and fable? damn great job
You should check out Interregnum: False Prophet. It releases tomorrow in early access and looks quite decent.
I can still only recommend the Spellforce series to you! I hope you get to enjoy those games as well!
Knights of the Chalice
You must have serious energy levels to get through so many games and i dont even know how you platinum everything on top of that.. Id be exhausted
Interested in your We Happy Few review, I heard the game got much better, I played it when it came out and it seemed like a mess. From the other game, definitely interested in The Still Wakes the Deep game. Seems interesting.
Hey Mort any chance you can fit in Dungeon of Naheulbek? i've been obsessed with it and would love to see what you think
Its on my list
Phantom Doctrine is cool.
If you're doing (and have done) Drakensang, might I recommend the original Realms of Arkania games? Blade of Destiny, Star Trail, and whatever-the-third-one-was. Always thought Star Trail was super neat, though I seem to recall you needed to be familiar with the TTRPG to get the best out of your party, hahah.
I'll be in line for your Flintlock review! The more I think about the game the more I want it lol.
I'd really like to hear your impressions on Shadow of the Erdtree, as well, considering that your review of Elden Ring proper contributed to me taking a chance on a game I now love :D
If you get Fallout 3 to run please talk about where you got it from and which mods you use. The one thing I hear about it is that it is really hard to get it running on modern machines.
