He was in a band doing covers of Journey in Manila......their guitarist (Neil Schon), when searching for a replacement for their previous replacement singer (Augeri?), was scouring youtube in its early days and found him. Great voice, haven't seen them live in Pineda but did see them with Augeri before he had to leave the band (I think it was infection that damaged his vocal chords, maybe injury). Augeri sounded like Steve Perry as well.
For our generation they find arnel Pineda,and continue the legend of the band journey!.. Thats it.â€â€â€

Perry is a great singer but the full stadium I was in with Arnel last night shows that there is in a fact a Journey without Perry.
Journey songs are songs with the vocals out front and clear. Not necessarily typical of all bands. Top bands pull it off.
Arnel will never be perry, But perry will never be Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams,Ledzep, Axl Rose, Queen,toto, Chicago, Roxette, Air Supply,acdc,hearts, Survivor, bolton,scorpion, eagles, aerosmith, and more. Arnel can copy those voices and still making his own voice heard. Arnel have one of the best voice texture and raspiness that ive heard. Fyi he start his career with journey at age 42 not his prime and still going strong (55 years old now)

I just hate it when some one tries to sound like some one else..He will never even come close to Steve Perry.. Most people who cover some ones song makes it there own, they dont try to sound like the original. its always a fail.
