As a father in a personally orchestrated crisis in my life, this conversation has been cathartic. Thank you both for your candor and courage to come out as you both have.
I Love the way you phrased that,... good luck with your impending resolution.
I knew Roy from The Daily Show. Years later I finally watched some of his stand up, and he is legit one of the funniest stand up comedians of all time.
He’s my favorite guest/person to listen to in the last two years. It really felt like an intimate conversation, he wasn’t elevating his voice to be heard or playing to podcast listeners. I wish everyone could be as equally soothing, knowledgeable, and captivating to listen to as RWJ is.
Yes!
This is fast becoming a must see podcast every week for me. Roy slayed it.
Same
I also like the old podcast Neal had where also interviewed Roy Wood
I truly love Roy Wood Jr as a person and a comedian, he's so legit as a comedian and a normal guy.
I thought there was no new Blocks episode today and I got real sad. Then I refreshed the page ten minutes later and there it was and this is officially my most anticipated pod of my week.
Wow, really appreciate Roy's depth and vunerability.
LOVE Roy Wood, Jr. - I was hoping he'd take over hosting THE DAILY SHOW! So bright & funny.
This podcast illustrates who I guessed Neal is... A very tuned in and intuitive person. I'm so glad he's doing this.
Have you listened to his old podcast the Champs?
Such a unique way he processed that shit with his Dad. A beautiful perspective to finally conclude to. What a wonderful human being. Love the podcast!
Roy has a smile that looks so kind and warm. Wish him all the best and good luck in his career.
Thank you for this! When Roy talked about not wanting to take up space and not asking for things I felt that to my core. Thank you. This is helping me move through that
What an amazing guy. Roy is so genuine, so thoughtful, so kind, and so f**king funny! Gotta love him.
I refreshed too much to see this show. Leading me to believe not getting this show is a block of mine
Thank you Roy for being the opposite of Steve Harvey (won doesn't look at us like we're people) when it comes to portrayal of Asian guys. Your pod cast with Ronnie about Asian hate really meant a lot to me. I love your material. I love your approach. I love what you have to say. And I love what you stand for. You have my full respect and I will always watch anything you put out.
Thank you for being you. Please remember, you are greatness personified.
Ohhhhh!!! Roy one of the best right now!!
This resonated hard. Roy is a class act and a killer comic his last special was amazing. Thanks Roy!
This is truly becoming my favorite podcast
Thank you, Neal, for my new favorite podcast
One of my favorite comedians. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself Roy!
Roy is one of our modern greats.
This is truly one of the best podcast ever. Thank you for being so sincere, Roy.
man I love Roy so much can't wait to see this one❤
Love hearing perspectives from other childhood traumas that come with us into adulthood. Thank you for sharing! ❤
Not gonna lie… I’ve been crushing on Neal HARD since the special, and more so since he started this podcast. But having Roy on - man oh man what an impactful episode this has been. It’s given me a whole new perspective on my mother and, in turn, on my own parenting journey. Thanks so much to both of you for this. And yeah, still crushing on Neal 😆
my favorite guest on the champs, and now my favorite guest on blocks.
Without a doubt, the best blocks pod so far! Roy is the man
Have you listened to Neal’s old podcast the Champs?
@@brandonb3174 I have not. How is it?
Identified with so many things as someone with a parent who has unresolved trauma-great episode.
I can't even express how much this podcast is helping me, thank you Neal!
Roy wood Jr. You make perfect strangers adore you, thanks for stepping into your due spotlight!
roy, own your greatness, dude. own it. 😻
Neil's BLOCKS▪■¤□ provides the best quality content from comedians of any podcasts created.
One of the best conversations I've watched in a long time!
Roy is a great comedian. His take on hosting the Daily Show is interesting. I never understood it in that way before, that you are leading a team, not just cracking jokes and accruing glory. But I hope he finds that perfect fit because he's more than earned that right.
love you guys, thank you for sharing!
This is one of the best ones so far.
What a beautiful conversation.
Awesome. Thank you
This is my favorite episode so far. What a great conversation!!
Another great conversation. Love this ✌️
Roy has a new fan!
Love y’all. Ty!!
Love the studio.
Wow I relate to Roy so much. Thanks for sharing your journey man, ❤.
This episode was incredible. I appreciate the conversations you share with the world. Thank you.
Related a lot to Roy's hang ups. Thanks for posting this.
Great episode It went by so quick
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and FANTASTIC conversation! Well spoken and concise ❤️
Fantastic.
This is the perfect podcast for people like me that are always listening to comedy podcasts. The format is so great. Thanks Neal and podcast team!
Have you listened to Neal’s old podcast the Champs?
This is my daily dose of therapy. Also how is Neal Brennan putting these out so quick. Goddamn Neal Brennan
Love Roy, love his story, love his comedy
Great ep! This one hit home for sure.
Hey Neal, I really enjoy your podcast, standup, and other work you have done. Thank you.
Wow.. This went deep. So enjoyable.
wow this was really great to hear, i relate to roy a lot in the making myself small sense. it was like hearing my inner monologue lol
Roy is one of the best humans!
Awesome, this was just some really high quality content, the deep thoughtful stuff-and I treasure Roy Wood Jr's comedy and insight. Thank you for this :)
Thank you
Thank you for deciding on set/ light, much easier listening now!
Roy dropped the "s" from his last name to distance himself from his father Tiger Woods.
Great episode
great work all
Amazing interview.
Almost cried with a lot of what Roy said, he really loves his family
Doing gods work Neal
This belongs in the example list of dope conversations.
Great pod🎉😊
Still working my way through his old podcast and bummed out to know it was no-more, and thrilled to find out "The Blocks" was happening. Unlike 99% of podcasts which you hear once and never think of again, Brennan's podcast have so much valuable info that they are all worth listening to again. That's saying a lot. Roy Wood Jr episode is especially deep.
Great conversation
this is indeedy therapeutic
Omg this is heartbreaking 💔 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Good stuff
Like a lot of comments here so just gonna add, YES this is a necessary podcast for people who want harsh and healing truths and for people who know that Mr. Wood is an extraordinary human AND comedian. Love love love love this. Thanks Mr Brennan.
Agreed, this is so good.
I probably commented this before but that damn outro music is soo good.
Thanks to @nealbrennan for showing we're all fckd up in some way! Another great episode.
Neal (velvet rope you're chasing) is the Fraiser "Door Jam" episode. The grass is greener (where you water/tend to it). You want the exclusive thing so you can check it out. Just don't walk into an emerald door *wink*
Roy is so calming. Dude has to do a meditation voice over lol. The conversation about generational trauma (specifically Black American trauma) is so important. And might contribute to Roy's imposter syndrome (being small/not boasting about his accomplishments).
Our parents and grandparents did the best they could with the tools they had in a MUCH different time. Mental health conversations are relatively new. Some traumas are so painful people have burned the box for which they are contained and expecting them to relive it is cruel. "Calcified Emotions" is a great way to describe it. We have to do the best with all the tools we have and show past generations some compassion/grace. One day we will be the boomers asking younger generations to forgive us (probably for the environment and human rights).
Roy wood jr. you are a mentor in any business
I used to love Ari Shaffir's 'This Is Not Happening' show - Then he was suddenly replaced with 'some other guy' who i hated because he was not Ari,... and it was SPECIFICALLY Ari's show!
I don't know how he did it, (i do),... but he won me over to the extent that i sought out ALL his stand up specials.
And NOW it seems like i've known him forever.
I was really impressed with this episode he got really deep, deeper than he would have liked i bet, but the conversation was important and helpful. - Thank you so much for this.
It's good to be considerate of others.
BeST OnE! - Love Roy! - he can come BACK
- Thank u Neal, helpin Me learn mental/emotional . . . Perceptions for , uhhhhhh - YoU Know 🤟🏾
there's great different between elicit cooperation and gain control, in parenting. Once we understand that and how it can benefit parents and kids, it changes things, for the better. But it is very hard, for most people, because it takes work and consistency.
Hi Neal, I was thinking that a wonderfully interesting crossover would be having Ryan Sickler of The Honeydew podcast on. Your therapeutic approach along with his "highlight the lowlights" could produce some great content. Thanks for everything, you really do make a difference in some of our lives with what you share.
Neal was on HoneyDew about a month ago. It’s a great conversation.
I'm just watching NPR and AP content and assuming everyone saw it. 😄
Oh and PBS, everyone watches PBS right? 😄
The only word to describe this Podcast is INCREDIBLE. The brilliance of Neal to take his stand-up concept of him recognizing his “Blocks” then creating a space for friends and or acquaintances to do so as well. It’s just getting better and better.
And I’ve yet to find the words for the Santino episode.......my god. I love you Neal Brennan
Have you listened to Neal’s old podcast the Champs?
@@brandonb3174 I did but it wasn’t at this level of communication and conversation with friends / peers.
Hey Ray, I so related with your story of your dad. I had the same relationship with my mom. She died when I was 20. I’m still fkn mad at her and I’m 58. My half sister (who is only 3 years younger than me) has a totally different view of our mom- and we grew up together…mostly…some of the time…there was a solid 6 years of living together.
Anyway, when it came to parenting, at difficult times I’d ask myself, “what would mom do?” (based on my own experiences, of course) and then do the opposite. It worked. My kids are pretty confident in who they are. The phrase, “because I said so!” never crossed my lips. If my kid could reason with me and win, he got what he wanted. He earned it and he was rewarded for it.
Roy is a funny dude. Good ep.
Roy has some good insight, he might not be that leader of the comedy troops, but he is a cruise missile of funny. Great show!
I like Roy.
“Who has a beat in their head and who has a voice in their head” was a casually brilliant statement.
every week a home run when it comes to guests
I don't know this comedian but this hit me so hard.Coming to terms with the relationship we have with our parents is something we don't often look back at.
It didn’t really hit me until my mom started getting sick this year, and I’m almost 30.
The work podcast has arrived
That looks like Prada hardware on Roy’a jacket. We love to see it
I want to see the life story movie of his father so fuggin bad!!✌🏾
That blue chew ad read was hilarious
20:30 We do that all the time. "Did the boy text you yet?" "What time are you picking up the girl?"
Roy cool as hell wtf
Gratitude is love! Happiness is a choice?!
Roy might like some IFS therapy!
Everybody convincing Neal to have kids!
I think a lot of people believe that showing confidence may either feel like arrogance or construed as arrogance and normal people don't want to be perceived as arrogance. Also, believing in yourself and your talent may make one fear failure so it's easier to believe you're not good enough than it is to believe you're good enough and then falling flat on your face
I have heard Roy’s name from other comedians but am not familiar with him, however I really enjoyed this episode. Seems like a really interesting person. Great episode!❤
Check out his story, "Golden Corral Saved My Life."
Look up his old podcast called Roy's Job Fair. It's great and I miss it. He shut it down when Trevor retired.
If youtube was reduced to just this channel, I'd be happy.
