The best part of this episode is how both Blitz and Stolas misunderstood what the other side meant in what they were saying
They’re both miss communicating, I think Stolas should’ve stayed a bit longer to let blitz process it ESPECIALLY SINCE ITS BLITZ WHO DOESNT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE HIS EMOTIONS PROPERLY
That's the thing, they didn't misunderstand, the two were as honest with one another as possible. They just didn't communicate their feelings in the right way. Blitzo was WAY too aggressive and yelled too much which probably triggers some PTSD on Stolas thanks to Stella and Stolas, well he was a bit too naive to think that Blitzo would just accept the new status quo without saying anything plus he dismissed Blitzo and his opinion way too quickly and didn't even give him a chance to talk calmly.

And the way that stolas wanted to make things right by giving him the right to chose, but he thought himself as not enough so bad that when blitzo didnt reciprocrate the feelings instantly, he assumed the worst and took the right of choice away from blitzo AGAIN. If stolas had just a bit more of faith in blitzo and in himself to repeat what he said and to say that it was serious, things would go so differently, but by striping the choice from blitzo, he triggered the worst response blitzo could have said...
I got the opposite feeling, seeing it as both said the exact things they meant at the end, yet it still went wrong.

I really appreciate that Alicia was the first reactor I've seen who really understood Blitz. That his anger and shouting at the end is a desperate cry for help. He wants to stay, but he doesn't know how to say it. I love it because I'm the same way. I retreat from emotional or complicated conversations, and my kneejerk reaction to emotional confrontation is anger. I relate to Blitz so much.
I noticed that she is very good at analyzing emotions and the reasons people behave in different ways. She has a lot of emotional intelligence I believe.

Same with me but for Stolas. I tend to take words at face value and shut down if anyone yells at or even gets mad at me. So I'm glad when people are able to see both sides. Luckily several of my main reactors I watch could, but I always get frustrated when people completely take one side and villainize the other. Some of my favorite analysis channels were coming down really hard on Stolas imo

But he's afraid of that, which is honestly in character considering his first crush ended up bursting into flames in an accident he blamed himself for for years and his first (theoretically the first at least) relationship with Verosika end up really bad, It is understandable that after so many disappointments he is really afraid of feelings, which he DOES have, he CARES for Stolas, like, he's ACTUALLY in love with him, he wouldn't be chasing him around the castle If he wasn't, but he's so afraid of being rejected that he thinks It's easier to just pretend he's not interested
I see a lot of people in the comments talking about how Blitzø's outburst could have reminded Stolas of Stella's outbursts but I actually think it reminded him of Striker. Blitzø said some of the exact same stuff that Striker did when he called him a pompous rich a-hole and talked about his status like it defined him as a selfish and greedy tyrant. Considering that Stolas is still wearing bandages the Striker incident probably wasn't that long ago and it probably struck very deep to Stolas.

notice when Blitzø was screaming at Stolas, Stolas was flinching and hugging himself tighter every time. They pointed out that its likely Stolas was having flashbacks to when Stella would scream at him. Blitzø is literally triggering Stolas's PTSD from his abuse from her, and thats why Stolas kept trying to get away from him.

I guess it makes sense why Stolas felt like he needed to throw Blitzø out. I definitely think he should have let him stay so they could talk things out, but with all his trauma, I really can’t blame him.
Let it be known Luna was adopted as a teenager, she is currently in her early 20s, 22 I think.
Probably 23 since she was 1 month short of 18 and it took 5+years for the hell-bies shot
Remember that episode when Blitz and Fizz were tied up in a cage? Blitz was ranting about how Stolas calls him all the time and asks how he is, and other things, and Blitz kept ignoring all the signs, thinking it was all just part of the novelty of dating a low-born imp.
Then there's all the text messages Stolas sent him that we saw back when he was hospitalized.
Finally, we have that moment after the date at Ozzy's when Stolas invited him in, which Blitz turned down.
I hope that Blitz looks back through all of these moments from the perspective that Stolas actually had genuine feelings for him. He yelled at Stolas for "springing this feelings bullshit on him", when there were so many signs that he ignored... not that he was capable of realizing it in the first place.
And now his self-hatred will escalate even further. Yet another relationship that he feels like he destroyed.
The thing with Blitz is how can he ignore something he never truly felt before? Dude has no experience with love
the thing is, stolas was never actually open with him. he was trying to act romantic when their deal was still there, ofc blitz would think it's just an extension of that. in his pov stolas just sees him as a "fornication" partner and "novelty" bc of his low status, and this is based on exactly what stolas has said to him and treated him as. if anything, blitz sees this as stolas just wanting for him now to play romance since he's divorced now and it's convenient to do that with blitz since the deal is there.

I want to talk about the text messages, because they're actually not as obvious as people make them out to be. Stolas is very vague and wishy washy in them, a very 'you could come over- but you dont have to i dont want to inconvenience you and honestly forget i even asked in the first place!' esque. And Blitzø doesnt go no contact. He does regularly respond to the text messages. Overall, the intent isnt clearly communicated with them.

Stolas thought Blitz thought low of him when it’s the exact opposite! Blitz hates himself and couldn’t imagine anyone, let alone a royal big shot like Stolas having genuine feelings for him. Stolas “setting him free” just feeds into his abandonment trauma, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy: Blitz expects people to leave him so he detaches and doesn’t admit his true feelings to them which in turn causes them to eventually leave because they get the wrong perception of him not having feelings for them 😭

42:48 To be fair, yes, Stolas did just spring this on him. WE saw that he has feelings for Blitzø, but when they were together, Stolas still treated him like a plaything. He never actually told Blitzø he has feelings for him until now. What's more, Stolas just dismissed him without giving him any chance to process this revelation or explain himself. Both of them could've communicated a whole lot better. Also, Blitzø never knew anything about Stella or Stolas' dad, otherwise I doubt he'd have gone that far.

But then again, you can’t really blame Stolas. Blitzo being Blitzo he doesn’t share what he thinks or how he feels he just dismisses everyone and even his own’s feelings so Stolas could never really tell when he was being honest or how he really even felt. I think this break up was needed so that when they get back together, they hopefully have their shit sorted out, and are willing to sit down and communicate.
To give extra understanding to Stolas He has shown ever since Ozzie's that he does care we see him try to get Blitz to do more non horny stuff, we see through their texts that Stolas is making an effort yes he hasn't been blunt about his feeling but he is scared so it's understandable. Also Blitz told Fizz that Stolas has been very caring and romantic tho Blitz deluded himself into thinking it was lies. So no Stolas didn't just treat him as a plaything at first it's clear he leaned into the horny stuff, but it has been shown and told that he has changed since Ozzie's.
2nd while yes Stolas didn't give him a chance to explain better, do remember after he initially dismissed him he didn't teleport Blitz away he let him stay there and then started to explain his feelings better. This to me at least implies Stolas deep down while he felt like he failed still wanted Blitz to fight and explain so he didn't send him away until Blitz confirmed all his worst fears when he attacked the fact Stolas used him and never cared for anyone lower class than him which hit Stolas so hard he shut down.
In short I think Stolas' reactions are completely understandable and much less of a fail for someone with his mental state, however they both still fucked up since Stolas definitely could have brought up this whole subject a lot better and made it very clear from the jump how serious he was.
Also as Blitz said, he never even gave him a chance to process the information. Stolas never really ASKED Blitz what HE wanted. Started the conversation by putting Blitz on the mental defensive and then, when he didn't get the response he wanted Stolas instantly got dramatic.
I love Stolas, but he handled this VERY poorly.

Blitz going from confused about feelings to absolutely furious about being denied the chance to even say his piece about all this. Given all his emotional neglect as a child I would not be surprised if he has BPD. Cuz that whole argument hit really close to home for me. Both him and Stolas have valid reasons for how they reacted. I just felt more "mood" with Blitz because I have BPD. Man Cash Buckzo really messed him and Fizz up if both of them had that "I can do better" reaction to things.

This needed to happen. Yes it was rough, yes it was sad, yes it was heartbreaking but it NEEDED to happen. Now, hopefully, the healing can begin. Also I just want to say, I think the two plots of this episode should have been separate episodes.

I didn't notice it earlier, but Blitz is (unsurprisingly) lying about "I skipped a few rounds with you in bed because I was busy" when he flat out said earlier in the episode that he chose to skip the meetings with Stolas.
Damn it, Blitz.
I mean, both can be true. He could have been busy and skipping to take some time for himself. One doesnt cancel out the other necessarily.
However, the way he phrased it (intentional or not), made it seem like a lie
Blitzø finally looked his way…..and Stolas missed it. God it fucking hurts because for the first time, Blitzø wasn’t even (knowingly) self destructing! He just….he didn’t believe *anyone*, much less a prince, much less *Stolas* from the top of that pedestal Blitzø put him on, could sincerely love or want him. He was clinging to the book with all his strength because he needs the excuse! Because why the fuck would Stolas want him around without one?

Did you notice Blitzø was genuinely excited for Full Moon night for the first time since we’ve met him? Even dressing up, JUST BECAUSE?
It’s because Stolas gave him the freedom to choose to honor the monthly arrangement or not. That was all Blitzø needed to be comfortable enough for his natural affection for Stolas to rise past his issues.
I really think that if Stolas had saved the big conversation for pillow talk, he might have realized Blitzø lived him from the new attentive vibe from his lovemaking.

It's sad to see ppl so quickly blame Blitz for the "talk" going bad when from his POV these feelings DID come out of nowhere. Stolas the first season would only degrade blitz by calling him his "itty bitty imp" only after Ozzie does he truly feel conflicted and wants to change things but even in the talk he completely controlled the convo and DISMISSED HIM when he couldn't immediately reciprocate his feelings, Stolas goes about correcting himself in the worst way. too Stolas, instead of just summoning Blitz like he's been doing to actually plans things out together he instead gives Blitz obvious outs to avoid talking to execute this elaborate scheme and only does summon him when HE's ready, If u read their messages u can tell Blitz isn't really smart, misspelling very simple words (probably never had proper education growing up) which is another part of the main reason he never did catch that Stolas was being genuine. Also, Blitz has no idea what Stolas is going through and vise versa, they never talked about ANYTHING outside of sex before this, no genuine date, dinner, nothing, which what makes Stolas revealing his true feelings to Blitz even more insane and the fact that ppl are more mad at Blitz cuz he for very understandably didn't like being forced into a life altering decision out of nowhere is crazy to me
One of the things I haven't seen anyone talk about yet, is that everything went wrong, because Stolas expected it to. He was so worried it would go wrong that he was already on the defensive. He took the book first, he gave Blitz the crystal before talking to him about his feelings and lets not forget he was ready to leave so fast when things went wrong. He was so prepared to protect himself, he put up so many defences for this interaction that Biltz had to go on the offensive.
From Blitz's perspective, it WAS sprung onto him out of the blue. And we see Stolas control the conversation, making up Blitz's mind FOR him without giving him any time to think and expecting him to have his mind already decided right then and there. Stolas did NOT communicate his feelings or intentions well enough and certainly not before this point. As we've seen in this episode, him giving Blitz space can EASILY be misinterpreted as something else. And Stolas has rarely if ever made any indication that their relationship was more than sex, even in S1E7 Stolas killed his chances to establish this at the end of the episode when he hid in shame of Blitz. Both sides are incredibly valid, but I don't like to pretend like Blitz is the only one who's in the wrong here.

This episode's emotional climax was so good. The build up. The dialogue. The voice acting. And all with "Sex" as a backdrop -- not as a fetish or as a plot point that could have been substituted for another thing -- but for what it is and how it can make people feel. Shows like this that can address these sorts of emotional conflicts that real people deal with every day are rare, but it's so good to see them thriving these days. They NAILED an often underrepresented form of communication around this subject matter.
And what's more, Alicia perfectly identified the subtext of their conversations and put those emotional performances and feelings into words. Thank you for being you Alicia! I'm looking forward to the next episode as well as your reaction (whenever they are ready).
Their song emphasizes the way they each deal with their problems: Stolas obsesses over the situation, while Blitzø just ignores it and hopes it goes away.

A strip of red cloth notched like the comb of a cock (rooster), which licensed jesters formerly wore in their caps." It works on multiple levels: Asmodeus's design is based on a rooster (a.k.a. a cock), Fizz is a jester, and the first syllable sounds like "cocks".
So both of them were already handling the situation super badly, but the fact that Stolas was apparently unmedicated and that Loona had put the idea that Stolas was bored with him into Blitzø's head certainly didn't help.
You know, when Cleetus mentioned the Exorcists, it got me thinking: When does Helluva Boss take place in relation to Hazbin Hotel? My guess is that it comes before Hazbin, because the truth of the Exorcists extermination still seems to have been hidden from the Cherubs. My best guess is that most of the angels in Heaven were told that the exorcists only exist to stop demons from killing humans on Earth, even though that isn't what they actually did.
They've shown Charlie singing in the show. And other residents of Heaven didn't really know about the exterminations of human souls. Only the seraphim and exorcists knew until the show.
@@rosenrot234 Well, sure, most of Heaven's residents didn't know about the exterminations, but even before they found out, they still knew that the Exorcist army existed. They just didn't know what they were for. Also, when you say "They've shown Charlie singing in the show." are you talking about the pilot? Because the pilot of Helluva Boss is no longer considered canon by Vivzie.
Well, before Hazbin got picked up, Viv fully planned on doing a crossover between the two, which explains the references to each show. In the (now non-canon) pilot episode, Loona was watching Charlie's interview on her computer. In S1 Ep2: Loo Loo Land, Robo Fizz impersonated Charlie's performance during his song when he stood on the piano cutout. In Hazbin's official first episode during the song "Happy Day in Hell" the truck that Charlie hopped on had the logo "Helluva Post" with a decal that resembled Blitzø's horns. In the original version of S2 Ep2: Seeing Stars, Blitzø's calendar was supposed to say "Visit Hotel" but was later changed to "Have the Talk". Both shows were supposed to parallel each other and run at the same time, so it makes sense that the Exorcists would also be referenced.
Our favorite danger noodle has been shown in boss as doodles in blitz's office, travis (the director of valentino's movies) was in the line in spring broken after blitz put up the flyer, and angel dust's poster is in the alley in ozzie's after blitz got bounced away trying to sneak in.

I do recall in Ozzie's, that Blitzø had a newspaper that had a picture of an Exorcist on it while he was stalking M&M. So the Purges were probably still happening, though they could have recently ended.
It is a bit conspicuous that the Purges havent been mentioned at alk, given I.M.P. works in the Pride ring and their customer base is Sinners (people who want someone on Earth dead for some slight)
..Hmm, maybe Moxxie mentioning that business is peaking might mean its after the Purges stopped, but thats just speculation.
If you noticed, their confrontation happened under the chandelier they were under as kids, but it’s covered with cloth. A really symbolic way of saying their relationship is so veiled that you can’t see what it could be

45:26 What? No Blitz never interacted or saw stolas' father and the only time he ever saw his wife was when he fell on her dinner table on the pilot and admitted to fucking stolas. He literally never saw her again and there was never any implications that stolas talked to blitz about his family besides Octavia on the rare occasion.
Blitz briefly saw Stolas' father when Blitz's dad dropped him off in Episode 1 of Season 2, after Stolas' father purchased Blitz.

Bryce has such a powerful voice that I can't help but get drawn in to his songs or even just his speaking. When he gets happy, I smile. When he is hurt, I die inside.
man, i feel so bad for blitz. i feel bad for stolas too but he dealt with that in the best way for himself- but the WORST way possible for blitz. He immediately put blitz on the defensive about the book and change, and he said it himself- the fact blitz couldn't believe for a second the feelings were genuine is about HIMSELF. In reality blitz literally can't think someone loves him, it's a personal issue due to trauma and has nothing to do with stolas making certain actions or not- blitz is literally incapable of thinking he EVER deserves love.
The fact stolas didn't see that and only viewed it through a selfish lense, while understandable, is so showing of his character flaws....and I love it
Something I haven’t seen anyone bring up is how what Blitz yells at Stolas is very similar (in words, not intentions) to what Striker was saying when hurting Stolas. Like, that attack was recent, Stolas is still recovering, and to hear the person he wants most thinks of him the same way as the guy who hospitalized him…
“Blitz I think so very highly of you, I didn’t realize you think so low of me…”
It was at this moment Blitz knew he fucked up
Now we've heard both Blitz *and* Stolas say they don't think they're worthy and that they're afraid they're going to die alone.
To be perfectly fair to Blitz, as... truly awful at this as he is, he actually had a very valid response, and needed time to process what Stolas was telling him. He was not ever going to immediately reciprocate Stolas' feelings, he has too much to fear here about losing the one relationship he thinks "works". He needs time to feel out how genuine Stolas is being. You can actually see Blitz rethink his reaction when he starts to apologize, but Stolas is already taking it as a rejection and is just trying to get away from the hurt.
It's important to note that BOTH of them are filled with issues and that neither of them handled this situation well.
Blitz is far easier to see as being "in the wrong" because he copes by going straight to anger, while Stolas is mainly sad.
But taking a step back Stolas handled this situation in an incredibly hypocritical way.
He starts okay, demanding the book off the bat might have been a bit blunt and he could have been more gentle, but he handled it well enough and got his point across.
Blitz disassociated and assumed it was RP, and Stolas just said "Fuck it, I have my answer"
The problem is his behaviour after, when he thinks he has his answer after seeing Blitzs reaction he just leaves, and says "we're done".
Blitz after processing that it isn't a joke and Stolas was full on serious, tries to talk to him about it.
But Stolas just straight out dismisses him and what he has to say.
Blitz outright says "I need a minute to think about this" which is reasonable but Stolas just keeps repeating that he already has his answer.
Blitz reasonably gets mad at this, for as much as Stolas claims he wants Blitzs opinion he just says his side of the story, makes his own mind up and does not let Blitz have a serious conversation about the subject.
Blitz is right when he says " You don't just get to dismiss me like one of your butlers".
He outright tells Stolas, in anger but valid anger, that he can't just make that decision for him and that he won't let Stolas just decide and run.
Which is exactly what he tries to do, and despite Blitz hurting his feelings in his anger doesn't mean he's wrong about demanding to say his part.
And Stolas just kicks him out, at no point is Blitz allowed to say his part about the breakup.
The transactional part is resolved right at the start. But not the emotional one, Stolas went off about all his feelings but then decided for himself Blitzs feelings never actually letting him say what he wants.
At no point does Blitz say "I don't want to see you anymore" Stolas just decided that were his feelings and ignored every plea Blitz made for them to have a serious talk about their relationship.
Facts! Both are in the wrong, and I’d personally say Stolas is more in the wrong since he is being hypocritical. Blitz is being honest, even if a little harsh.
Exactly. Stolas is assuming that Blitzø would react the way that Stolas would react, despite them having basically opposite stress reactions.
Stolas has been agonizing over their relationship for months, searching for ways to resolve the problems in it, so he assumes that Blitzø must have been doing the same. If Blitzø had come to Stolas with a way to fix the power dynamic Stolas would have jumped at it immediately.
Of course that's not how Blitzø's mind works at all-- he has been desperately _avoiding_ thinking about the problems in their relationship by any means necessary. So when Stolas brings them out into the open like this, Blitzø is caught completely unprepared. He tries to deflect further, and to Stolas this looks like disinterest.
Then Stolas immediately shuts down to avoid being hurt further, and to Blitzø this reads as Stolas brushing him off and belittling him. They're both _trying_ to communicate while coping with strong emotions but the ways they do this are so different it's like they're speaking different languages. It's honestly tragic.
to play the other side a bit, blitz's reaction to genuine emotions being a burst of anger is absolutely the wrong response. he gets it under control fairly quickly, but that initial outburst that carries him down the hall after stolas was a bad response.
it's a response born of misunderstanding, but if blitz had been calmer or stolas had been less sensitive to the possibility of rejection, this probably would've played out differently.
I think we need to keep in mind that Stolas absolutely hates himself as well, but he’s a little better at hiding it. This is not to mention that Blitzø screaming at him the entire time probably triggered some sort of PTSD in him, which is likely why he threw him out so quickly. They both need to sit down and communicate, and Stolas should have given Blitzø a chance to process and speak, but the yelling I think was what caused everything to go awry toward the end.
Dude, everyone already knows Stolas is madly in Love with Blitz except Blitz himself. He had months to think about it and realize, Stolas confessing shouldn't be a shock to anyone.
And Stolas has every right to be mad at him, he confesses his feelings and is clearly telling Blitz that it's his choice, but then Blitz treats it like an act, straight like a joke.
Stolas has every right to end the conversation then, more even when Blitz started screaming all of the sudden, insulting Stolas and in the end, doing the same shit Stella did to him during their marriage
I've seen SO MANY people just brush past the little things like Stolas not having anymore pills to deal with his unhappiness and the hallway as Blitz is chasing after Stolas where Stolas has covered up all other portraits that have him in them and the only one he hasn't covered up is the one with Octavia...this episode hurts...

But blitz assuming that stops is just trying to do a romantic role play isn't just something from out of nowhere.
Back at the end of season one, in ozzys, when stolas distanced himself from blitz after everyone in the club started judging him for sleeping with an imp; that was something that absolutely destroyed blitz. In his mind that just wrote in stone that stolas only wanted blitz for the societal taboo of the sex. So that's what blitz thinks this is.

Yeah this, my partner and I had our own version of hashing out the breakup since I relate to Blitzø and he relates to Stolas and he was like "Stolas has tried to reach out and make attempts to make it something more, like Ozzie's and the text messages" and my autistic ass is like "Yeah WE know that but if I was in Blitzø's shoes the way Stolas acted embarrassed of them at Ozzie's ruined everything about that night to my mind in the aftermath." Like you can see the way he acts in the car it's all that's on his mind. He immediately goes home and essentially self harms via looking at things that hurt him. The texts are a good attempt imo but still texts can be hard to interpret. A lot of people see Blitzø as BPD rep but I've always seen autistic traits in him. Not saying he is but my headcanon is autistic with CPTSD and I've yet to see anything to dissuade me.

This has never been a healthy relationship. It was toxic AF for a long time and to turn everything on a dime wasn't gonna happen no matter how things were phrased or who said them. Blitzo's gotten better, true, but that doesn't mean he's ready to be mentally or emotionally there for Stolas's feelings in the matter.
They're talking to each other and that's good but it's like they're on two different wavelengths. On top of everything else Blitz is yelling out of confusion and panic. While Stolas is still seriously depressed (between him and Lucifer, Hell's royalty really need a therapist) and is reacting to his belief that it's all or nothing in this thing with Blitz.
It's so sad and neither side is right or wrong.

Stolas would have been communicating well if he was talking to an ordinary person. But Blitz is anything but. He has so much self-hatred and anxiety that Stolas needed to push through much more than he actually did. He took Blitz’s response as reflecting badly on himself, when that wasn’t at all what was going on. Neither Stolas nor Blitz actually understood what was going on in the other’s head during that conversation.

And the worst part is seeing that Stolas is now covering himself out of all his pictures in his house, just like Blitz does. He has not developed the same self loathing Blitz had and Blitz doesn't even see it.
when Blitz says "after everything you put me through" I couldn't figure out what he could be referring too. The only thing I can think of (and I may be wrong) was Blitz is referring to Stolas being out of touch for the past few months and although Blitz said he was busy, he could've easily spent that time worried that Stolas no longer wanted to see him. Unless there's some other instance I'm forgetting.
Well Stolas was the one who proposed the arrangement purely for sex in exchange for the grimoire in the first place. Stolas dragged him to Looloo Land and outright fetishized him so much his daughter walked away for a bit. Heck when they were kids Blitzø was literally bought to be his friend. Of course it was Stolas's "Dad" that did that not him, but from day one Blitzø has been essentially trapped. Has he royally fucked up and made a ton of mistakes? Of course, he's not blameless at all (especially Ozzie's which wouldn't have happened if he hadn't stalked m&m) but the point is Blitzø has been put through the ringer, in general and in the relationship where he was a sex object. I wish so much that both of them talked way before this point but this is the direction Vivzie and team wanted to go. Fingers crossed they are able to reconnect and honestly understand each other in future episodes!
It went about how I expected it to go, you know they weren't going to not have the trainwreck that their miscommunication was producing. Now it's just a question of what character(s) are going to try to repair their broken relationship, I'm thinking it could be loona or fizz talking to Stolas about how broken Blitz really is or maybe them talking to blitz. Either that or both blitz and Stolas will be trapped together and argue/fight their way out of whatever situation and realize that they had misunderstood the intentions and emotions of the other.

I feel like overall the plan of 'setting the guy with severe abandoment issues free' with literally no warning that this conversation was coming in the first place, was not so good (and an amazing writing choice).
This confrontation shows so much of their characters. I can point out so many things that could have and did set Blitzø off into blind panic and desperate defence mode, while I could also point out many things that made Stolas completely shut down. They truly dont seem to grasp how the other functions, and it results in a trainwreck of a meeting.
