Today we are watching the strength training of Olympic Discus Champion Daniel Stahl, we were unbelievably impressed by his insane deadlifts, squats and push presses! - Sport
I love the detailed commentary which covers all the important points in the video. Eoin: “I feel like that was for multiple sets” Dare: “I feel like he’d look great with a mullet” 😂
That actually is Daniels mom who used to be a powerlifting european silver medalist. In a Swedish article from 2020 his best lifts in the gym are Bench 200kg, Deadlift 350kg x5 and 320 squat. His weight is listed to 155kg.
Nah, 320kg squat was for a triple.
At his heaviest he was 170kg.
Daniel weighs around 160kg I think, I remember him sitting at 155-160 a few years ago but he looks bigger now. Daniel used to be quite good at ice hockey I'm pretty sure before he started focusing on throws and dropping insane bombs, his PB increase per year from the low 50s is legit
His coach Vesteinn Hafsteinsson doesn't really have his athletes catch any cleans or snatch iirc, all about moving heavy weights fast
I remember chatting to some big boys and they were saying Daniel went away for 2 weeks for Xmas and he went from 154kg to 166kg so big boy can eat ahaha
He just won the Gold in Budapest , World Champion! Now hes Both Olympic Gold medalist (Tokyo 2020) and double World Champion (Doha 2019 and Budapest 2023) So i think hes doing something right with his training.
Gentlemen, the world of thrower strength is opening up before you! Joe Kovacs, Chuk Enekwechi, Stipe Zunic.. these shot putters are next!
Not to discount yourself, you've got a fair share of horsepower ahaha
@@electivirethrows4298 Nick was a beast even in high school!
Daniel is brutal in every way. Racking up the gold metals, lifting really heavy in the gym and seems to be SUCH a nice guy. The definition of down to earth but super professional.
The changes in javelin was that they moved the center of weight further forward so it dips faster
I'd love to see you react to the old training videos of Werner Günthör, dude was incredible
and doped to the max...
@@teknoaija1762 most people in these videos are
And why wouldn t they be?It s pro it s about money.I knew a local dealer who sold gear to many track field athletes, even many women.@@bacon66277
After putting the shot 50 feet in high school, I was a shotputter for a year in community college, where I learned that the 50 lbs I'd lost in the Marines, my love of running at 220 lbs, and my refusal to use PEDs made me a mediocre candidate to keep throwing in college, after which I quit. Years later, my powerlifting/strength training and interest in discus throwing led me to start throwing at 27. Within two months, I threw nine feet beyond what I'd thrown in college. Having had back surgery on a bad low back disk the year before, I could only do heavy vertical leg presses and front squats, which didn't make me strong enough to throw the platter any better than a good decathlete. It really saddened to give it up after that one season, but I wasn't willing to destroy my spine further to start doing the Olympic lifts and heavy squats that would have given me the explosive strength to get lower-level competitive without drugs. It took a lot of self-discipline to walk away, but I did. Now I really appreciate being able to critically watch T & F throwers and have been satisfied with that. I know that I squeezed all I could out of my physique with the physical limitations that injuries and surgeries caused me.
guys! PLEASE do Werner Gunthor!!
Do Joe Kovacs, he's done a set of 4 squats over 800lbs.
Also Stahl came from powerlifting into throwing
And Daniel just won the world championships again, making Sweden proud once again! And with a competition record too (not world). Still on the top!
The gym at 9:30 is actually called "gruvan" which means "the mine" aka a cave
Werner Gunthor? Impressive lifter, better thrower, greatest mullet
Ah nice, i wanted to see this!
Holy hell, I have seen him throw before because I am a track and field fan. This guy is so so explosive but that's what you need to become a thrower
Another favorite Swedish discus thrower of mine is Ricky bruch.
'Also you pronounced Ståhl perfectly
Humbly requesting a reaction to the training of Werner Günthör. There's an incredible series on his periodised training.
They changed the weight distribution on the Javelin and made it have less bend in flight to make it fly a shorter distance. The distances with the "new" javelin are starting to get way there also.
I'm here for it again, loving every moment of it❤️
Only logical next step is you guys trying throwing, just saying🤷
so gnarly, the speed is insane.
Please make one on USA shot-putter Joe Kovacs!
I love how hype this guy gets after he destroys the weights. This is the good shit.
Could you do one on Alexander Karrelin? He is the GOAT heavyweight wrestler, has a throw named after him, and was just an absolute mutant who weighed 3kg as a newborn baby. [Edit, it was 6.8 kg not 3, not sure how I got that one messed up, but I misremembered that one.]
I second this!
Would be interesting to get a video on Karelin, but I just wanted to say that 3kg is absolutely middle of the pack for a newborn boy. 4kg+ is really big, and on the extreme end you get some at almost 5kg.
@@clarkkant5322 I was wrong about the weight thing, looked it up and it was 6.8kg. Which is insane if the average baby is about 3kg.
@@Mbstr1 holy shit, yeah that's insane
@@22448824 It really just implies that he was an extreme genetic outlier, which probably played a massive role with him obtaining a record of 887 wins and 2 losses during his greco roman wrestling career, but I suppose that that is not a virtue either?
What a unit
You should see Joe Kovacs Benching 600lbs or Ryan Crouser Hip snatching 140kg. There is even videos on Luke Warning doing Bulgarian Split Squats with 500lbs, Thrower Strength is another level.
Love for you guys to react to shot putter Tepa Reinikainen. Lots of Olympic style lifts, with big numbers. Video can be found with a caption "tepa reinikaisen harjoittelua 1999-2004"
Agreed. That video is amazing.
Tepa was too doped to be counted.
he used aa lot of steroids and test.@@Meritokratiabest
@sikastrength a bit late but the Scandinavian basement gym is my club, Stockholms atletklubb. Daniel is a member and ive seen him do 170 for hang power cleans and i belive 120 kg power snatches with ease
6:20 that squat was so explosive there was a bit of air time at the end
Can you do a video about Leonidas arkona
Can you do a video on Nathan Damron?
would love to see you lads take a look at Kyle Snyder and his training. he is an olympic freestyle wrestler for USA who does some impressive training lifts
Please can you do Isiah Rivera? Dunker with a 50' vertical jump 🦘
Damn Daniel
the most crazy shot putters are udo beyer and christian cantwell
Would love to see a reaction to Ryan Crouser!
A video on michael chandler from the ufc, he is a freak athlete
Would love to see the current Shot Put WR holder Ryan Crouser covered lads 💪
The javelin, uwe Hohn from GDR threw almost 105 meters, then they moved the center of gravity a bit forward so it now dives sooner. And sgain, chech out Ryan Crouser 2x240 in front squat
Он, вроде бы, жмет лежа это вес! И это - далеко не его максимум!
This dude is fucking unreal.
So how do I get this strong ?
5:30 holy crap he launched the bar off of him on that last one
A finnish 1970 s discus thrower Pentti Kahma supposedly still has worlds fastest 40 meter clocked dash but time isn t found anywhere so it s pretty out there?Daniel won 23 world champs but his bench is weak.I did 8x180 kg at 230 lbs or 104 kg.220kg raw comp bench at same weight.(only minor russian 5 mg interference)
Those bench sets had me wincing a bit tbh.
they moved the javelin centre of gravity forward so it comes down quicker
Should look at Joe Kovacs Shot Putter
Just search on CZcams Daniel Ståhl cleans. First video is a small 200kg
There is also a 130 snatch, 3x300 squat and 5x190 bench on his instagram.
owh yeah ... that looks like raw viking power...
Riku Kiri, former strongman. Like an oax. Over 300 bench etc
So much weight needed to throw 2kg disc!?💪😁. All you need for it is rotation speed on puck ring.
"surely this is some kind of push press. I'm sure theres no way he'd be squatting something so light" 170 is light lol. just insane!
It would be cool to see a vid about how strong the strongest female throwers are
Absolute UNIT👹
Georgian wrestler 'Revaz Nadareishvili' could be an interesting specimen to examine
Lol I saw a picture of that dude the other day, he’s a fucking freak
Do him and the whole georgian wrestling team. Tbh. Other dudes on the team that make Revaz look like a shrimp.
Sika?
When you say “you don’t want to be doing super grindy reps”, what are you basing that on? Surely if they’re getting enough practice being explosive (doing their sport practice) then they’re doing enough to not get slow?
I’d be grateful if there was any research you could point me towards
Ryan Crouser, Jacko Gill, Werner Gunthor for example. They are shot putters!
Ryan Crouser please
His listed weight is 155kg
Georgian wrestling team
When squat university meet father Ted = Sika strength 🤣🤣
Johannes Vetter
Artem okulov.
I mean he's obviously big, like really big, but he doesn't look like he should be that fucking strong.
Two words - Deanna Price. Watch her.
Tennis ball on the end of a javelin...certainly not as aerodynamic as it would be without...according to the algo.
of course his Name is Stahl! Meaning Steel in German
UDO BEYER and GEOFF CAPES were stronger, but Danny Stahl is the strongest Discus-Thrower ever...
Pretty good prononciation of his name, just a bit of a German twang on the S, otherwise perfect!
Looks to me like he did 7 reps on the deadlift...
Check out Joe Kovacs. He is significantly stronger than Daniel Stahl.
Vitaliy Feschuk is an athlete that people dont know about outside of calisthenics
Dude weighs 100kg at 182cm right now or this year and does:
305kg conv deadlift
200kg+ squat
175kg dip
100kg pullup for reps
One arm pullups
Planche
Frontlever
And all kinds of crazy stuff
There is a compilation on CZcams from noa man workout called is this the most complete heavyweight athlete featuring all this
Bw in the first part is around 100kg and in the second part when he is younger around 90kg
Absolute HORSE and i think an interesting person for this format
He’d be way too powerful with a mullet.. 😬
he just like me fr
Ståhl... STÅHL... Not Stahl... BIG difference
